Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

Everything I've read about Enns tells me to ignore his numbers and just wait. From what I hear, he's a soft throwing (not like low 80's but still) lefty without elite command, so he's basically the version of Keuchel that was getting lit up earlier this year without the upside of him having previously shown the command. He's got a low K/9 and too high of a BB/9 to get too hyped up on, and that's at AAA. His FIP is 3.49. Kap I just don't know, now that he's hurt all I can see is Brackman. I'll see how he does when he comes back.

I'm watching Sheffield closely though for sure. We've had such highly touted prospects even in the past and they flame out at the major league level.

When the time comes Hal better pony up for my boy Shohei Otani, though thats a few years away I think. I will NEVER forgive Hal for Moncada, just ever. No excuse, we had the opportunity to literally buy a top 3 prospect in the game and he let him go to the Red Sox for like 5 million or something. That is just garbage. We can never let him live that down, he better pray that dude doesn't become the beast he already looks to be.

Yea, Enns is clearly not a power pitcher, maybe he can make a impact regardless. Acevedo and Tate are young projects, Clarkin is hurt.

What I've learned is it's hard as hell to develop quality pitchers, especially for the Yankees.

Yes on Otani, Hal better do everything necessary in his power to get him when the time comes.

I know the book on Clint Frazier is he has great bat speed but wow, just look at this:

8/19/16: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Clint Frazier slugs a no-doubt shot as the RailRiders host Pawtucket

I was reading an article on him at work the other day, I thought I posted it here but I guess not and couldn't find it. It was just talking about how he signed as like a 16 year old and has basically learned to catch from scratch. It had a few quotes from Cashman, on how he thinks having a kid may have made him more mature and devoted to baseball, and how hard he was working to learn English to talk to the pitchers but would still use translators for the media. I know stuff like this happens all the time but it still blows my mind. Being 16, given 3 million dollars and moved to another country, having to learn another language, and being groomed to be an impact major league baseball player it's just insane. I already love the guy.

We always seem to do that, refuse to lock up young players early like smart teams. This was one of the few times that actually hurt us, but it's still not smart.

The mistake with CC was giving him the opt out. We offered the most money by a lot and obviously would have signed him without it.

The 2014 signings I'll defend Cashman a little, since for 2 years prior to that ownership wanted him to get the payroll below the luxury tax number. Then last minute, they said this team isn't good enough, go out and spend money. If they hadn't made that budget, there were much smarter signings we could have made earlier. Or if they had stuck with the plan, we would have avoided those terrible signings. Worst case scenario.

Brilliant moves made out there by Girardi, just brilliant. It's almost laughable, you bring in human pinata Swarzak, in that spot?? I'm really not sure I want this guy to be the manager going forward.

Girardi is a clown man, there is no logical explanation for the handling of the bullpen tonight.

Did the same **** against Toronto. It's honestly laughable.

Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

I come back to the same thing that I did with trying to bring in the new guys, we need to phase out these trash relievers, just give up on them.

Every major league system has a few guys that throw in the high 90's and could be impact guys out of the pen, we just insist on using scrubs instead. Why is Swarzak even on the roster? Meanwhile my guy Ben Helper was supposed to be an impact reliever we got from the Andrew Miller trade and he's in AAA. Why? What is the reasoning behind having Swarzak at all on a team that is trying to fight for a playoff spot or trying to move toward the future? He doesn't fit in either plan.

EDIT: just got the update that Swarzak goes to the DL and Heller is coming up LOL, what are the chances? Side note, Tacoby Bellsbury is slugging a clean .363 and collecting 21 mil this year. Sorry, just can't get over that.

EDIT 2: Saw this on a Pinstripe Alley article and had to post it here.

In fact, General Manager Brian Cashman told reporters during the Winter Meetings that he would "like to unleash the Kraken, which is Gary Sanchez, on our roster in 2016 if I can."
Thinking we gotta crown this nickname ASAP I love it. UNLEASH THE KRAKEN. Somebody get this to John Sterling, his Gary is Scary call sucks.

Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

It's Don Mattingly appreciation day for me.

I'm reading a book on Selig's tenure, and The Boss is prominent in it, but they use Donnie baseball to illustrate a guy giving everything up for the strike. Declining legend first baseman for a legendary franchise never played in the post season, finally plays on a team that has a shot and then the strike hits. Unfortunate, and then obviously the rest is history.

Random stat check, slash line in 86, 352/.394/.573. Played in 162 games, 31 homers, 53 doubles, and only struck out 35 times. It's the strike out total that stands out to me, that's a bad month for a first baseman in today's game.

Unrelated, the idea of Steinbrenner running a team of replacement players is next level entertainment to me, could be a sitcom. The level of player movement, releases, and firings wouldve been unprecedented over a full season lol.

It's pretty good so far, I really just wanted to learn about how much of a scumbag Selig is/was (a giant one) but all of the little Yankee nuggets are great to read. It's just opening my eyes, like the Mickey Mantle thing. The Boss is just my guy though, good or bad. I'm going to get into a biography of his next.
