They cut the guy, said he's retiring in a statement, and basically no one has stuck to that story. Michael Kay asked him if he was done and he said "I haven't thought past Friday".
If he signs with another team, yes, then the record means more.

The Yankees are releasing him based on the assumption he will retire and take the advisor / instructor role.

But he'd be foolish to commit to anything too soon. It definitely isn't his choice to be released.

Despise the way Arod is being treated. No point in it. I guess Joe forgot he came back and hit 33 homeruns last year.

I don't think the Yankees are doing anything wrong. To me seems like they tried to part on good terms with A-Rod, agreed on a reasonable plan with him, and then he just decided that it wasn't enough for him.

Sanchez going deep to center in Fenway with a faint Yankees sucks chant in the background...

          I'm ready for the future.

Also, JUDGEMENT DAY will soon be upon us. Aaron Judge keeps raking. Hopefully when we cut the cancer out on Saturday, we can DFA Hicks and call up Judge and Tyler Austin.

Did I miss something? When did he say it wasn't enough and he's going to sign elsewhere?

Last I heard was the press conference. Haven't followed since.

All he said was he was disappointed, because he wanted to get a few more ab's before he retires. and I get that.

Look he's only here till Friday, Girardi, and the Yankees need to just swallow their pride, and let him end his career gracefully.

              Girardi's comment was pure hypocrisy.

In addition, I'm getting sick of Girardi, I'm not saying fire him, but his decisions have not been stellar, he failed to challenge a play last night, that could have been game changing, and continues to play Hicks, that dude is not the next JBJ Joe, I'm sorry.

A-Rod is a half a win below Hicks (A-Rod fwar - 1.1 bwar - 1.0, Hicks fwar - 0.8, bwar - 0.5) in 30 less games without playing in the field. It's difficult to put into words how garbage A-Rod has been. What do you want to put him in right field? I don't like Hicks either but he's not the one in A-Rod's way.

I'm saying demote Hicks, let Arod play these last few game at dh, and move on. It's not like it matters, and Hicks has proven nothing, I cant stand, watching him start another game, I'd rather see Gamel out there getting ab's.

Is it even Girardi's job to control demotions ? I'm honestly not sure, but I doubt it.

No it's not, lol I think we've learned Girardi has absolutely no pull whatsoever.

I'm not saying Gamel comes back up, and hits 300, but **** man, I can't take watching Hicks anymore this year, I'm willing to let Refsnyder go try it out there, just so I can see somebody that can consistently put the bat on the ball.

Like I said, I hope he gets dropped after A-Rod, the experiment is over and it was a failure. Tyler Austin has been mashing in AAA all year and Judge is as hot as they come, both ready for corner outfield spots, plus Frazier hopefully this time next year will be getting his first taste of big league action. There's no reason for him to be on the roster. I read somewhere that he's one of Cashman's projects, not sure how true that is but I believe it given his playing time. For a large part of the year, MAYBE they could get away with the no one is ready excuse for Gamel , but with Austin and Judge mashing, what's the excuse?

I completely agree I'm ready for the youth movement, get Judge and Austin up here with Sanchez.

I'm sure we will see them in September though. I know Judges knee injury slowed his ETA, but I don't know how much longer you can keep Austin down, he's as hot as it gets right now.
