    Future is here!

Austin and Judge first players to go back-to-back in their first plate appearances.

Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

Well I witnessed history today, the last few days have been a rollercoaster of emotions.

There seemed to be be a magical presence in the ballpark today. With the Yankee legends, arod's retirement, and the baby bombers called up.

Austin hits that homerun, I got chills, mouth wide-open, blown away. Then Judge comes up blasts one to dead center, and I asked myself is this a dream?

It took me a couple innings to finally compose myself, and then Hick's does the unthinkable, and I started laughing.

My heart was literally racing for half of the game. Oh yea, Castro and Didi went deep too. This should be alot of fun from here on out.

Have no fear the baby bombers are here!!

I listened to that whole game on the radio yesterday (thanks GWB traffic). Man that must have been something to witness.

What has gotten into Hicks? The man is possessed.

Girardi brainwashed him with hours and hours of JBJ highlights, and he evolved into him. There are other theories, but that's the most realistic one.

Yankees sent Severino back down to AAA. Thank goodness, that guy is horrible. Really hope they don't call him right back up again, give him some serious time down there to try and work out his issues if he can. Have a feeling he might end up a bust. Well at least a bust compared to what he was supposed to be.

At worse, he's a bullpen arm that just couldn't cut it at a starter.

Betances looked just as bad his first couple times around.

Eovaldi having 2 surgeries, going to miss all of next season.

                    Whatever.

Of course it's still way too early to say anything for certain but Gary Sanchez is looking good. Looking like the catcher of the future for the Yankees. Not saying Judge isn't looking good too but Judge literally just came up like days ago.

Disappointed Eovaldi needs surgery. Had a bad feeling about him though when he got hurt.

Girardi says Sanchez will catch more often than not going forward, McCann to DH.

Side note, the Yankees subreddit has been keeping me alive this last week or so. After every game, someone posts a flaming hot take based on what's happened? It's a joke but they're so ridiculous I laugh every time. The last few:

"Is Gary Sanchez already better than Posada? "

"Will Aaron Judge hit 40 homers this year?"

And my 2 personal favorites, they basically sum up life as a Yankees fan on a day to day basis.

"Will Chad Green win the Cy young award this season?"

"Is Anthony Swarzak the worst pitcher in MLB history?"

Note on the other side, Shreve is just a mess. Ridiculous, from a guy who was lights out in the 7th for the first half of last year, to a guy who couldn't get through a dull inning at the end of last year, to now a guy who literally couldn't record a single out last night. Joe didn't even look him in the eyes when he took him out, he was just looking around the infield like "One of these guys I bring out should be able to get us out of this". Not much to take from last night because for the entire bullpen to implode like that is so improbable , but damn was it hard to watch.

Just checked FG for the slash numbers:

Shreve in the first half last year:.177/.263/.301

                        Second half:.290/420/543

                        Unreal.

Not sure what went through Girardi's head that made him decide to go to Swarzak.

CC needs to be the next Yankees veteran who isn't any good anymore to announce his retirement. I geuss since this team isn't really going anywhere anyway this year I geuss they might as well let him stay and just let him eat innings, good or bad but I really hope they don't bring him back next year if he dosen't call it a career and retire. Release him if he won't retire. You can find a younger guy to do what CC's doing. It's a shame but his velocity dipping ruined him.

12 ks 7 runs, but they don't tell the whole story. Headley made back to back bonehead plays, and Didi slipped, should be 3-3.

Was just coming back to edit my post a bit since I figured maybe I was being a bit harsh saying they should just release him but they should definately at least stick him in the bullpen next year assuming he will still be playing. Maybe he would be better coming of the pen for an inning or two at this point. Seems like the Yankees refuse to put him in the bullpen though.
