Maybe Cashman can find another decent guy off the scrap heap like he did with McCarthy and looks like he did with Eovaldi.

The issue with trying to compete this year is that Chappie's deal runs out this year, so he's basically a shoe in to be traded. There's just no reason for us not to try to cash in on some fringe contender trying to lock down the back of their bullpen. I think he's the best option because like I said his deal is running out, he's 28, and going to be looking for big money. I don't know what too many closers are making but I looked up Kimbrel and saw he's making 13 mil, Chappie is already making 11.something, Miller is only making 9, 31, and signed for 2 more years at that price after this one. Dellin hasn't even hit arbitration, trading him to me would require a great package obviously and be a last resort, no need to deal him. The other side to Chapman is the end of the season, we give him a QO, and someone else signs him do we get a draft pick? I'm not sure how that works with us just having had him for this year. So IMO we trade/attempt to trade Chapman first, if we can deal him and have enough time to get a deal done for Miller, we dump him too. If someone blows us away with a crazy package for Dellin, go for it, but I think he's actually super special in how many innings he can eat. How many closers can go 100 innings in a year?
I agree with the first paragraph. I know we could make a run at the playoffs but in my opinion it's not worth missing out on the prospects Chapman could bring back just to barely get into the playoffs and end up knocked out. I know all you have to do is get in to have a chance but as you said it's unlikely they will win a title without getting another reliable starting pitcher.

Ackley done for the year. With Tex's health at a question mark, are the Yankees in the market for a 1B, preferably a right handed bat?

I would say yes and no, only if they can get someone off the scrap heap for cheap that's a even close to relevant otherwise I would say bring up a kid from the minors and plug him in and see what he's got, I'm not tracking any high. Prospects at 1B in the system so bring one up cost nothing and see what he's really got before you let him ride out to the sunset and hope Tex stays healthy

Actually why not bring up Swisher he can play some first base since you got him down there in AAA

Agreed. I don't see them in the market for any 1B they can't get cheaply or easily. Today they called up Parmelee so I geuss that shows what they think of Swisher right now. Parmelee's still an upgrade. How worse can he possibly be then Tex has been this year. I was hoping that since Tex and Ackley went down that Swisher would get a shot but I geuss the only chance of that is if Parmelee gets hurt or somehow finds a way to be worse then Tex has. Hopefully he is ok though and dosen't need surgery. I'm still hoping he comes back and can start producing again, but who knows maybe he's just done. It would be sad to see his Yankee career end this way, or his whole career itself if he truly isn't capable of producing anymore. Tex is one of my favorite current Yankees players. And the mets just had to scoop up Loney themselves right before we lost Tex and Ackley.

It's about time Refsnyder is getting consistent opportunities. I like his bat.

Cashman saying if the team falters, he'll advise Hal to sell and Hal saying we'll be in it at the end of July...if these dudes hold on to all of these assets past August 1 so that we can either slip into the wild card game and lose again or miss the playoffs by 3 games I'll be pissed. Start the rebuild...now.

Judge down in the minors mashing on a hot streak, 6 homers in his last 11 games at AAA, a far cry from the struggles he was having earlier in the year.

I wonder if Beltran gets dealt could we see him up before the end of the summer. He's 24, gonna have to see what he can do in the bigs at some point. Im intrigued.

And Tex comes back from injury and goes 0-3 against the Twins. Honestly Teixeira should have went straight to the bench today instead of back into the everyday lineup. As I've already said, I like Teixeira but in my opinion Refsnyder deserves to be the starting 1B based on what he's done so far.

Looks like they finally got sick of TV viewers looking at a half empty Yankee Stadium for every game and are getting back in bed with Stubhub. This was pretty inevitable, but it was funny to watch the Yankees try to do it their own way and then insult their fan base trying to justify it. Next step, lower prices.

WOW, now the details are out and they've ****ed up again. This is unbelievable. Now there's no option for physical tickets, and digital tickets still can't be printed. They basically swapped out TM for Stubhub.

It's okay. They'll see things won't change and Levine will have to eat crow again.

Man, such a favorite thing of mine, to see Levine back peddle from his comments.

Now he's going on about people not knowing how to run a team. Because Levine has done such a swell job of that.

New York has some of the dumbest executives in sports.

Price floors too. So if anything the secondary market just got worse. Still going to be tons of unused tickets.

                          State of the Yankees:

                          todaysknuckleball.com/inside-baseball-with-jon-heyman/yankee-intrigue-trade-gap-arod

                          Main points:

                          - Cashman may be looking to sell but ownership is against it (big surprise)

                          - Other team officials believe 50-50 shot we hold on to Chapman and re-sign him (...honestly don't know how I feel about this, just doesn't seem to make much sense if we can get a decent prospect for him and then re-sign in the offseason and we already have 2 elite relievers)

                          - We're asking for so much for Miller that no one thinks he'll be moved (don't have a problem with this, he's a really valuable asset, and one we don't need to give up for less than we think he's worth)

                          - A-Rod is still washed up, retiring early or accepting a buy out is out of the question

Hal out here looking like Jim Buss.

Apparently the sale is on. Chappie, Miller, Gardner, CC, Beltran, anyone that's not nailed down in Monument Park is up for grabs. Should be interesting how everything plays out and to see what we can get.

Where did you see that? They didn't trade anyone to signal that and Cashman said they are open to everything and anything but said they aren't going into a selling stance. Did you get the sale is on from that?

There was a report that we're now fielding calls and getting trades prepared for when Hal gives the signal. There was also one that we've got an aggressive offer for Chappie right now that they're considering. This is all from Buster Olney.

Also, apparently one of our top prospects, Jorge Mateo 21 yo SS, got suspended 2 weeks for "mouthing off" to the execs. He apparently complained that someone else was promoted to AA instead of him. Don't know what to make of the suspension other than he must've really gone in there and cussed somebody out to get suspended for 2 weeks over this. I do have a problem with this information being public. Why is the team letting it get out the reason this all happened? Tighten the ship.
