**The Official New York Yankees Thread**

Yankees trade for Paxson from M’s, give up Sheffield and 2 other lesser prospects, he’s signed through 2021.

Really good move, and now I think Cashman is locked in and set to get this thing going

Surprised to see Sheffield moving already. But hopefully Paxton stays healthy this year and this will be a great move.

Yea I was at first to but I think Cash is thinking they won 100 games last year with mediocre pitching, if they felt Shef wouldn’t be really ready for 1-2 more years then it’s a waste to hold on to him, miss the window they have now and then he be not the stud they thought, better to get a proven commodity now

Next comes Corbin hopefully. I'm for resigning Happ as well.

          Paxton
          Corbin
          Sevy
          Happ
          Tanaka

That would be really solid. Better then solid. Still have Sabathia.

The more I read the more I like the trade. I hadn't kept up with reports but Nem mentioned and I'm reading a lot of articles that Sheff's now projected as a number 3, possibly a full time reliever. That's worth it for Paxton's potential. He's another guy who you expect to see some time on the DL, so Corbin and Happ are both still in play for me, CC can spot start.

Re: **The Official New York Yankees Thread**

Yankees have to go in with six or seven starters this year.

Corbin has to be the next target. And I agree I would like Happ back.

You add in Montgomery from injury at some point and that's seven guys. Let's do that.

It's pretty much necessary when you see we had probably 30 games last year started by Jonny Lasagna, Luis Cessa, or Lance Lynn. I forgot about Gumby, that's great that he should be back down the stretch. I want to see this team at full strength so bad.

We basically traded the last 2 and a half years of Andrew Miller for the next 2 years of Paxton. I'll take that. Also got the 2017 Greg Bird bomb out of it. Wins all around.

I think not getting Corbin is a blessing in disguise, his numbers really aren’t that great, and that’s pitching in the N.L, a move to a much more hitting A.L let alone A.L East may not have been good. 6 years upwards of $125M is too much for him imo, he’s not a “game changer”

I see what you're saying, but I'm just not trying to hear that right now. His numbers were very good, and pitching at home in a park that's every much as hitter friendly as ours. He got strikeouts and suppressed homers, perfect for our team. He is getting paid now basically what Ellsbury is. This is a disaster.

I wonder if we're in on Kikuchi.

His numbers were good in one year, his contract year, he’s almost 30 and a number 3 at best, I’m glad they passed

I feel where you're coming from but getting the guy is winning the off season, only. The Yankees need a guy that's going to definitely win during the season. And they need more than one.

Corbin is not at Sale's level or even Porcello. Heck, he's not even David Price and we've seen how up and down that's been for Boston.

Happ, Lynn, Losaiga, etc. are not the answers either. But someone was going to miss out on Corbin. We don't even know for sure if the same offer would have landed Corbin.

I'm not going to ride on the coattails of the **** reporters in NYC that Corbin being a Yankees fan mattered. Maybe Corbin is such a big fan he knows how quickly things can go south if he doesn't live up to expectations. And in New York, if he's 3-3 with a 3.89 ERA after 10 starts, you know the media and fans would be on him for not being elite.
