That was a rare example. And I'm not declaring anything, but logically there's a realistic chance they make the playoffs. Obviously it's a long season, injuries can change the course of a season, but the Yankees have so much depth and a great farm system, I'm confident this team will be playing in October. I'm a believer now.

      I agree.

What's going to be interesting is near the deadline if it's a tight race (division and/or WC) what moves Cashman will be willing to make to get what most feel is a starter they will need. Does he say hey we're "ahead" of schedule and full of youth and we go as far as we as is. Or does he say ok log jam here and here so move this guy or that guy and pick up a key starter (or other piece) and go for a 'ship!

Of course all hypothetical and way too early, a lot of other factors like who's available and what specific need(s) but that's where I think the real first big decision comes about this team moving forward.

Hopefully C.C can turn this around and be league average. He's really been the only real blemish so far on a incredible first month and change.

Yea very true. Would it be good to use him and say Warren as a combo on his turn. For instance CC goes 4-5 innings or 2x through lineup and then Warren comes in to bridge the gap and keep CC mediocre stuff from a third time through lineup? Idk I just don't think he can go more then twice through, and if it's a more set say 4 innings you don't have to wait for him to get rocked then get a guy up in an instant to get ready, they would both know going into the game their role. I know probably a dumb idea lol

CC has for the most part been a player the Yankees as an organization like. But they may need to ARod him and move on.

Well... That performance was one of the worst starts I've ever seen from a pitcher. I don't know what the hell that was.

Next Tanaka start will be telling. Love that the offense never quits. They nearly sparked a comeback again.

Still holding first place, off to KC we go.

So the nerd in me did further research on Tanaka. First game of the season Tanaka gives up 7 ER to Tampa. Similar to last nights god awful outing for Tanaka.

The next four outings he gives up just 7 ER total in four consecutive outings.. Which includes a complete game shutout against Boston. So April was pretty damn good minus the ugly game in Tampa.

Fast-forward to May, he's been incredibly average. Until last nights game against Houston which inflated his ERA significantly.

It's really strange to look at his overall body of work. There's just no consistency. I don't think he's injured, I think it's mechanics. Now your guess is as good as mine. But, it's truly baffling to look at.

Never too early, lol. If we can get a consistent Severino and Pineda and pick up a solid starter through either trade or call up then it might not be too early to get that 2018 tee shirt
