I think yea he pulled the trigger on the deal as the GM and yea Ellsbury has been a bust but it goes more then just on him but to the culture of management as a whole then. It's more then coincidence that the 2 biggest growth spurts in modern Yankees history in the farm is in early 90's when George was banned and last few years as George has passed.

He was great owner don't get me wrong and rest his soul but I can only imagine the heated debates between him and his "baseball" people on who stays and goes and why

I always blamed Cashman for not shopping Cano for a haul of high grade prospects if it was known they weren't going hard to resign him.

Cano was also my favorite player, but watching him wheel and deal lately, it's hard for me to imagine he was responsible for the Cano fail or the Ellsbury disaster.

It seems Cashman has an amazing ability to negotiate and create the scenario he wants. I'm blown away by what this guy has accomplished.

He's also loading up on international money. I think he's got someone on his radar.

Sitting here watching Severino just blow through this Indians lineup (minus the Brantley HR) this kid at only 23 could become something real special

I feel lucky to have seen some Frank Thomas as a kid (some because he wasn't on the local team so mostly playoffs or highlights). That man was capable of hitting low line drives over the wall for homeruns and I was always in awe by his power.

Aaron Judge is the first player since I've felt that way about as a fan. Incredible.

During Yankees road games I listen to the opposing teams feed on my MLB.tv and it's interesting to hear other teams announcers take on Judge as well as other players in general. When he hit that oppo line drive hr the Indians announcers stated "there isn't a lefty in baseball that could hit that ball that hard to RF and he did it oppo style, wow"

Homers like today are almost more amazing to watch than the towering 450+ footers. Just looked like a double into the gap and it just never goes down

It's great having Hicks back, big HR to spark a rally and a huge throw to nail Nunez at 3 to help an again struggling Chapman

I was definitely expecting to miss Clint Frazier a lot more. So far, so good.

Our good friend Jeter should trade us Stanton for Ellsbury straight up.

I went to fangraphs to see Judge's splits:

July: .230/.365/.483 with 18 walks and 39 strikeouts.
August so far: .147/.326/.396 with 9 walks and 17 strikeouts.

Oddest thing on the whole page to me was that he's slashing .163/.379/.442 against lefties on the road. Surprisingly abysmal for a right handed hitter. It's been a slog out there for him lately, even expecting a slump I didn't expect this. He's almost last year's version again.

Whenever it is, Girardi will surely realize it about 2 months later lol.

Seriously though, the insistence on continuing to use him to close games is bordering on insanity. No reason he should've been out there for the 10th.

Flashback.... Chapman goes out there in the second game clearly doesn't have it. Walks everyone. It takes two straight walks for Girardi to realize. Oh I might need to get somebody going on the pen. Chapman nearly blows everything. Girardi sticks with him regardless. And lucks out.

Last night Betances works a flawless inning. And nope we can't let him try to finish this out. He's not the de facto closer. Bring in Chapman. Chapman proceeds to blow it.

But hey let's trot him out there to start the next inning. Then bring in Kahnle with inherited runners.

Ok you get my point. Joe has no ****ing concept on how to use a bullpen. He probably misses bringing Clippard in big game situations.
