**The Official New York Yankees Thread**

I think Headley gets phased out to a situational bench hitter especially if Frazier plays good early.

I honestly would like to see Romine as everyday catcher, convert Sanchez to 1B to keep him healthy and spot catching, as I think Romine is the better catcher defensively anyway. Then when Bird is healthy (if ever) let him light up AAA pitching then move him before he gets hurt again.

I also think they should move Betances while he's still favorable trade bate, he's going to command too much money and he's showing that sign that relievers have such short dominate shelf life's to justify large contracts, and they already gave one of those to Chapman which might already bite them in the *** sooner then later

Gleber Torres takes 3rd next year once healthy and things are pretty much set minus a legit #1 in the rotation, but a Betances and few prospects deal could/would solve that issue

Great outing by Severino, I think we're watching the making of an Ace right before our eyes, after going toe to toe with Sale he follows it up with a gem in Sea against King Felix. He seems to go 7 with 3 or less runs every outing. Regardless what a turnaround from last year

I hope so. It's about damn time the Yankees develop a good starter of their own.

Man Clint Frazier looks really good so far. I really hope the talk of him going down when Hicks comes back is wrong. Even though I know it's probably better he plays everyday in AAA then sit and play part time in the show. I just don't understand why they keep sticking with Ellsbury.

Either way the outfield of Frazier, Hicks, Judge looks real promising for years to come

They've got 21 million reasons a year to try to get some kind of production out of Ellsbury.

Yea I know, I just refuse to remind myself. Maybe Cashman uses him as a reminder to not go down that road of overpaid guys who get old and unproductive long before the contract is up

Yea. .. they better not send Frazier down. He can hit major league pitching. He belongs.

Yea but this is the type of player he's been for 3 years now. At some point I think you just gotta accept that he's a sunk cost.

His contract is too bad for that. We still owe him 60+ million before that last year buyout. And a full no trade clause. Such an awful deal. I'd love to get rid of him, believe me. But I understand why they keep their fingers crossed that he'll do something.

Cashman did great for us in the trade for Sonny Gray. For the big return Gray would supposedly command and the type of package the A's were seemingly trying to hold out for this is a steal in my opinion. Kap and Fowler are both coming off major injuries and are both pretty big risks. Pretty much traded 2 of our most risky well regarded prospects to bet on becoming important MLB pieces in the future.

It does sting a bit to see Mateo go as he's rebuilt most of the prospect hype he had and lost before. He was blocked though so that makes it easier to see him go, along with the fact that we have Torres who was doing great and nearing a promotion to the majors before he got injured. I do think they may end up regretting trading Mateo in the future though. Obviously you need to give up something good to get something good though.

Overall Cashman did great once again. He's moving the right prospects for the most part in my opinion.

Unreal trade for us. I don't know how the hell we went from Torres down to Florial. Down to this package. But Cash is a master negotiator. That's for sure. So much depth in this rotation now with Gray and Garcia.

Great deal indeed, I say run a 6 man rotation now and see where the hot hands are going into the playoffs. This pickup could put them over the top to take the division imo. And kept all the biggest prospects too

I was pretty confident we'd get the deal done, and it wouldn't include Torres or Frazier. Definitely thought we'd be giving up more than that though. Great trade, and all around great job upgrading the team the last few weeks while not destroying the farm.

I'm glad Cashman is getting the chance to show how good a GM he is when handling prospects and trading (for) them in deals.

Hard for me to know how much the big money free agent contracts are his fault though I think it's widely accepted that Elsbury is on him.
