We've got too many capable arms. We just need to abandon rigid roles and use guys in their best situation. Too many quality relievers to have guys forced into arbitrary designations.

That Devers homer was just a body blow. 103 up and in to a rookie lefty and he takes you deep to left center in Yankee Stadium? ****ing fate lol.

Exactly, and we have the luxury most teams do not. We have a outstanding bullpen with multiple options.

We don't need a de facto closer. There's no need for that. Chapman is not very good right now, that's pretty evident. Saturday night was a clear indication if any.

And then you bring him back for the ****ing tenth?! Maybe I dont know... let Kanhle start the inning with no inherited runners? And if he doesn't look like he has it. Which he really didn't. Have Green and Warren ready to go. You have an assortment of weapons Joe. So ****ing use them.

I imagine Girardi is being careful not to ruin Chapman's confidence. Removing him from the role might do further damage. I get it but we also have to consider the long term effects.

That being said, it should be made clear to him that any signs of trouble, he's pulling him out. Let him build some confidence back.

Last night was a weird situation. Chapman felt good. Throwing absolute heat. Then an unfathomable home run. I would figure the chances were like 0.01%

After that Chapman clearly looked defeated. His mind was racing. I can't even succeed witg 103? And he started worrying about a game winning home run.

Those are the moments Girardi needs to get up and pull him. ASAP

Seems like just yesterday we had Andrew Miller willing to come in to the 5th with 2 outs and 2 in scoring position and ready to mow them down through the end of the 7th.

Yes the Devers homerun was probably just unfortunate luck. But why the hell would Joe bring him back to start the 10th? That's the mind numbing stuff that I can't understand. He's already blown the save, what else are you trying to see out of Chapman?

Then you expect Kanhle to come in and clean up Chapman's mess instead of starting him with a fresh inning.

Jeff Sullivan on Chappie, basically he's being very aggressive in the zone, but he's had a crazy rise in contact percentage. What used to be unit table is now being hit at basically a league average rate. Velocity is down as well. Gotta wonder how much is because of the rotator cuff inflammation earlier in the season.

EDIT AFTER THE HOME RUN IN THE 9TH HE JUST GAVE UP:

Chappie out as closer, according to Girardi. No set closer, says he's gonna play match ups. Should be interesting to see. Break out the binder.

Let's just get these boys healthy. Starlin looks great. Bird looks great. Small sample size, but you can see Bird is confident and able to plant his foot down now with no issues.

Get everybody healthy and iron out the bullpen a little bit. And this is a damn good team.

Crazy to think Severino is only 23 years old and he's this good already, especially after all the troubles he had last year

How about "Deadley Headley" homered off Kluber and Sale.

The atmosphere in the stadium last night looked and sounded like a playoff game from old yankee stadium, it was great to see.

Yea Judge will be fine, unfortunately his criticism is a product of his historic success early. They bring you up only to tear you down. He's surrounded by great talent and personalities he will be fine
