The protection Judge and Sanchez will have now can't be quantified into a single stat.

You can't pitch around The Judge anymore.

Sabermetrics say best hitter should hit 2nd, through combination of the more at bats from being higher in the lineup and hitting behind a (hopefully) high OBP leadoff hitter. Stanton actually hit there for 110 games last year and 47 I think of his home runs. They say 4th is second most important because 3rd comes up too often with the bases empty and 2 outs whereas the cleanup hitter starts off a new inning more.

I'd like to see how Gardner-Stanton-Sanchez-Judge-Bird-Didi works. I can't wait to see whatever they come up with though. Just got a reason to pull The Show back out for sure.

I like it but I get the feeling Judge will stay batting 2nd.

I would stick Gregorious hitting 2nd.

Only problem is we have to wait till spring training to see this lineup and team in action! Can we just skip the rest of the offseason and go right to spring training please?

Am I the only one that hates Jeter the owner? Of course as a Yankees fan I love Jeter as a player and it’s great that he basically handed us the NL MVP for nothing but not a fan of what he’s done as owner of a team. This guy basically comes in, buys a team and then starts tearing it apart. Wth? Say what you want but I don’t think the Marlins were THAT bad. Certainly not in need of drastic action like this.

He’s ruining a team for years. He traded the face of the franchise for barely anything. Why was an ownership group that lacks the financial power to continue operating a team at it’s current state even allowed to buy it in the first place? If I was a Marlins fan I’d be pretty pissed.

I have not been impressed with Jeter as an owner especially in handling the firing of staff. Asking someone else to fire staff who in turn will also be firing is really douchey. Grow a set and do it yourself.

I don't know what their books look like. If they're truly 400 million in debt or whatever, they've gotta slash expenses. Long term, that contract was unsustainable from a business standpoint. Loria made out like a bandit.

They had 2 deals in place for what we assume were better returns. Stanton, using the NTC the other ownership group gave him, rejected them both and gave them a list of 4. The Astros don't pay people like this, there's 3. The Cubs have Heyward already and probably don't want to spend big money on Stanton. The Dodgers payroll is already outrageous. We were the only team out of the 4 that this could happen with right now it seems. Cashman saw that and attacked.

As far as the broke ownership stuff, who knows man? That's just how this stuff happens. Remember when Mark Cuban wanted to buy the Cubs and couldn't even get the owners to sit down with him? It's an old boy's club kinda thing, the same way Loria was a god awful owner with the Expos, and still was given another team in the first place. They pick the guys they like to join their club.
