I feel really great about the team this year. Anything less then a return to the ALCS would be a major disappointment in my opinion. On paper it’s probably the second best roster in the league behind Houston. As for Boone, time will tell, not really much to say about him yet.

Really excited for opening day to see this squad in action for real. Haven’t been quite this excited for a Yankees season in a while. Looking forward to their first spring training game vs Detroit on Friday.

Yeah, I'm really excited. Last year, I was excited but I didn't think we'd go nearly as far/have the kind of season we did. After last year's success, I feel like 2018 could be a special year for us. I agree with what you're saying in that anything less than an ALCS return would be very disappointing.

I'm excited but the expectations need to be pulled in.

I think it's too easy for Yankees fans to think the sun revolves around the team. There are good teams in the AL and it's easy for the Yankees to be the 2017 Indians this year.

I want this team to compete and have a real chance. They should. But balls bounce the wrong way sometimes.

Yeah I see a lot of fans downplaying the moves the Red Sox are making like they weren't a 90+ win team last year and didn't just add a pretty equivalent bat to Stanton. It's hilarious to me. We are not some untouchable powerhouse that's going to run through the AL.

I'm just happy to, at this point, have a team that will have a shot in every single game this season, barring injury. The ping pong balls bounce in weird ways once the playoffs start, but as long as we can get there, I like our chances as much as anyone else.

Exactly. And sorry I wasn't trying to say we shouldn't be excited. I reread my post and it sounded a bit like I was trying to rain on the parade.

I'm super excited too. And goals like a ring or the ALCS are great to have. I guess I'm dreading the possible "Yankees were a major disappointment and sucked" comments if the Yankees don't make it to the ALCS.

It's nice to know management only believes in one goal, and fans are game to believe in the same. But I want to remember that this team is ahead of schedule.

Exactly. I didn't expect the team to make the playoffs last year and I felt like we were surely going to lose to the Indians. I was very glad to be proven wrong.

No matter how far they get this year, the team is going to be very fun to watch. The other competition in the AL only makes it that much more entertaining, especially the Red Sox.

I am really excited for this year! It's a breath of fresh air to have a new manager, I was Girardi'd out. I am not super confident in our rotation though, I think we need reinforcement. We know going in CC and Tanaka will be on the disabled at some point.

I'm very excited. I really hope I get to go to at least one game in the summer. I agree about the rotation and health concerns and we will probably address that down the road via trade.

We traded for Brandon Drury: Souza to ARZ, Drury to NYY, Yankees' #8 prospect Solak to Tampa

On the Michael Kay show today, Brian Cashman mentioned that he's had his eyes on Drury for years. The hosts on the show brought up how hilarious and great at his job this guy is. He makes a deal for the NL MVP out of nowhere to fill an opening they don't have on the roster, but he's had a player most Yankees fans have never even heard of on his mind for three years. Gotta love Cash.

I just hope he dosen’t end up starting over Andujar or Torres when the regular season starts. That’s probably what is going to happen though.

Those two could probably use a little more time at AAA.

Torres is most likely going to start in AAA unless he has an explosive Spring due to them getting more controlled time through arbitration with him starting season down there. I see Wade and Drury starting the season at 2nd and 3rd, and then them letting it play out from there based on performance imo

Makes sense to keep Torres in AAA in regards to service time. A couple injuries could change those plans though.
