Jeter...as a player he was Mr. November for New York. As an owner, he's Mr. December (credit to Rich Eisen).

Don't forget that Jeter owns like 2% of the team. He isn't the one making the final call on firings. He's the face because it softens the negative perspective of the management.

This guy basically comes in, buys a team and then starts tearing it apart. Wth? Say what you want but I don’t think the Marlins were THAT bad. Certainly not in need of drastic action like this.

He’s ruining a team for years. He traded the face of the franchise for barely anything. Why was an ownership group that lacks the financial power to continue operating a team at it’s current state even allowed to buy it in the first place? If I was a Marlins fan I’d be pretty pissed.
I don't feel bad for Marlins fans. They are mostly fairweather fans and won't even show up when they get a badass new stadium.

You have Stanton for that long and you can't even get fans to show up?

Tampa Bay and Miami don't even deserve MLB teams.

Maybe Jeter won't be a good owner. But he did have to get rid of Stanton and he pushed himself in a corner.

Sadly I think the death of Jose started the domino effect of the Marlins unraveling. That was such a blow.

Boone out here living his best life:

"I was about to interview a coaching candidate, Cash comes in and says 'I think we might be getting Giancarlo.' And I was like, 'Wow, this job is pretty cool so far."

This guy is such a bro, I love it. Can't imagine a more regular former major league player.

Makes me glad Girardi got his ring early, I would hate for him to get compared to Mark Jackson if this team wins a ring.

Any early thoughts on what John Sterling's home run call for Stanton might be?

I saw someone on Reddit say it would almost certainly have something to do with hitting it to Staten/Stanton Island.

"Oh no. Watch it go". Another homerun for Giancarlo. Stanton hits that one to Scranton.

And the Yankees lead the Red Sox 800 to 0.

What do y'all think about trading Frazier for Cole. For it or against it. I feel like that may be risky. Then again... we do have a glut of high quality outfielders.

I’m not against trading Frazier, just not for Cole. I just don’t think he’s consistent enough. I’d rather package Frazier in a better deal and just sign CC for 1 year and put him in the 4 spot with Montgomery at the 5 and see how Adams and company do in minors and give them a chance as needed

I feel really good about both. The team is obviously mostly the same one that went to a game 7 in the ALCS last year, plus the reigning NL MVP. 2nd and 3rd still up for grabs I guess.

I don't think the manager is a huge deal, but every time I see Boone I'm convinced he's going to be great with the young guys and building camaraderie in the locker room. I'm sure Cash has sent him to boot camp to get up to speed on analytics and what they want done in specific situations. I'm very eager to see how it all plays out.

I feel really good about both. I think even if some of the banner year guys have a slight drop in overall production numbers they can offset that with higher then average baseball IQ and overall team balance. This offense has the potential to be amazing but if it’s just short of that then the starting pitching is deep enough to pick up the slack, when they have struggles the pen is dynamic and dominate. This could be a special year!
