Last night I turned the TV off in disgust in the first inning watching Prior groove his pitches and give up three HR's. Played NCAA football, then online saw the score on the ticker on the bottom. Glad to see him settle back down.

One alarming thing, which doesn't suprise me is that 46% of all Cub runs scored this year are via the longball. That's the same as we were last year about. The Cubs again do not have the ability to play station to station, which means we are vulnerable to streaks good and bad. This is why we will continue to have problems until we get a real leadoff hitter and a few more OBA guys.

Ya I painted this weekend so my house is in shambles. I had no TV hooked up and had the radio on and was shocked when he gave them up. I figured he was hurt, but he did settle down nicely. I agree with the long ball, but part of it is because their two best players are absolutley killing right now and hitting tons of homers. Ram is hotter than DLee . I do agree though, a top of the order guy who steals is needed.

        Dusty Baker = Man Genius

Guys on 1st and 2nd w/ Burnitz up. OH, LETS BUNT.

This way we have two guys on for Ramirez who has been ultra hot. But wait, we bunted to open up 1st base. Baker is so lucky all that garbage worked out.

They wouldn't have had to use that garbage if Ramirez was behind Lee...There is only one other 3-4 combo other than Lee-Ramirez the Cubs should be using...you guessed it, Ramirez-Lee...
In fact, I think this would be the best set-up...one on, ARAM at bat, hitting .320+, Derrek Lee on-deck...right now, Burnitz is batting behind Lee, and that is not what I call quality protection...pitchers aren't terribly afraid of Burnitz, especially compared to Lee...of course.

How can such a bad decision maker and strategizer be a MLB manager?!? Really, I could do it, and I will be honest, I have only the slightest clue...but for the love god, Dusty...Is the TRIBUNE telling you what to friggin do?

oh yeah, are we gonna play Gerut? I know Hollandsworth vs. Gerut is not a great set of options, but they're both lefties, right? correct, I mean.

Neifi magic again. Good win. I would love to see Merton get a chance. That .350 batting average at AAA must not be good enough. Karen Wood on the DL and to the bullpen. Ouch babe!

Wood out of the bullpen?!?! This is gonna be hilarious.

The guy can't throw strikes. Those walks are gonna kill in late innings.

The ONLY way I would want Wood back on the Cubs is if he takes a WHOLE year off baseball to rehab. Season and all.

Michael Barrot hits a huge homer to tie the game against the Giants at 2 in the bottom of the 8th. Maddux gets his 3,000th career strikeout.

Yeah, I had a feelin...clicked on gametracker, saw Barrett at the plate, and kinda knew...Strange, I used to do that with Sosa, I KNEW when he would K and when he would go deep with uncanny frequency...

Also, can we ditch Burnitz? He hasn't been awful, but Murton is 3-3 tonite, and Burnitz has been stinking it up for about a week or more, let's check out Gerut...If nothing else, Burnitz should be batting 7th or 6th, I would prefer to see Neifi in front of him...When the Cubs face RH SP we see Burnitz in the 4 hole, and it sucks like all hell.

Burnitz needs to go. He hasn't done anything to improve this offense lately. It's been a long night. I'm still watching the game and it's 12:15 AM.

Now it's raining very hard at Wrigley. It's tied at 2 in the bottom of the 8th. If this continues then they'll have to finish the game later today.
