Lawton is a leadoff hitter. THat is the reason we got him. His career leadoff stats...

      I stand corrected, then...
Though I thought we really hit a stride with the lineup we had about a week to 2weeks ago...

I just saw on chicagosports.com that Jerry Hairston's been put on the 15-day DL with a torn ligament in his elbow. Could this mean the return of Corey Patterson?

They're not bringing up anyone to replace Hairston, for the time being. Garciaparra was activated from the DL to replace him. In other moves, Mitre was sent back to the minors, and Remlinger was designated for assignment to make room for Wood and Williamson.

              James Miller on Garciaparra:
It didn't look like he was ready for this. After his first at bat, he looked like Gabby Hayes on the way back to the dugout
...This was a quote from the Cubbies Board...i must've laughed for a good 10min!! :y4:

Labor Day Monday. I've been offered tickets twice (I am a huge parrothead and Cubs fan), but sadly the tickets are too expensive and that is my 2nd week of class.

Just another year. Been seeing this for 30+ years. I'm sure next year when they do nothing again in the off season, raise prices, scalp tickets, blame the media and fans etc. There will be idiots in February lining up outside of Wrigley for bleacher tickets. Blind homers proclaiming how 2006 will be the year.

It's happened every year, including this one. Next year will be no different.

What an embaressment this team has become. They take after their manager. You can **** up everyday and you will still be playing. Cant turn my back on Holly and Macias dude. From top to bottom a flat out joke. I hoped they could turn it around but they dont have the guts or the heart. I am proud I didnt give them 1 cent this year.

Thank god the Bears were on. I got off work late, saw they were down 9-0, laughed and watched Kyle Orton.

In Chicago, baseball always ends when the Bears report to camp.

In the 90's, football usually ended when the Bulls reported.

The Sox fans will have double duty this year, but I was already thinking Football back in February.

I gotta say though. I have a feeling there's going to be a MAJOR shakeup this offseason. Just a vibe I'm getting. Feels all too familiar to me.

Yeah, I've got the same feeling. I saw a Hendry interview the other day where he was talking about how Baker shouldn't be getting all the criticism, because it's the players who aren't performing. Sounds like some heads are gonna roll, which is needed. I think this team has quit. Maybe they did that awhile ago, but getting pounded by the Reds like they did only confirms it, in my mind. It's been a long time since I've seen a team that was such a disaster in every area of the game.
