Perhaps the esteemed buddy and Dusty humper would like to explain the elections of several esteemed black politicians (Obama being the latest) that have been wildly popular in Chicago, including the last two mayors before Daley. Not that any of these positions are more important than BASEBALL MANAGER!

    Get over yourself Dusty.
And not only that but the downtown library is named after M. Washington.

So Kerry Wood was supposed to throw yesterday but couldn't cuz...his back hurt getting out of bed!

Boy I wish my boss would accept that one!

What a fricking pussie. I can't stomach this team already and we haven't even gotten to opening day. I just can't wait to see who the 'bad guy' is this year with Sosa, Alou, and Steve Stone gone. Who will they blame it on?

Well it looks like nothing ever changes. LaTroy you are a joke, go back to Minnesota you pathatic crybaby. Good to hear the fans still booing after unexpected failures by players who have never won a damn thing. It was Chip Carey's fault.

No, Evil Stoney. But hey I saw the new seats they put in by the visitors bullpen. I'm sure those aren't too cheap.

No not at all, but since it makes them a boatload of cash they figured it was ok to open the vault. . Did you see the signage behind home plate. They claim it will give them the needed revenue to sign free agents.

Yeah of course it will. The sick sad thing is, if they only got a closer, and kept Matt Clement they probably would be in the mix for the division. But they were soooooooooo fixed on making Sammy be the bad guy that they didn't fix what really is wrong.

I know it wasn't popluar, but I'll say it again, they shoulda kept Sammy. NOT because he's great, but they are paying his salary anyway. Take the money they spent on Burnitz and more importantly used that time to court Percival. Move Hawkins back to setup man, put Dumpster...I mean Dempster back in the pen and boom, there ya go. Sammy was a scapegoat for an organizational problem.

What is so ironic is that the Cubs has screwed themselves. See they never won before so nobody questioned anything. They could gouge anybody they wanted and got away with it because there were no expectations.

Now with what happened in 2003, expecially being 5 outs away from a world series, there is LOTS of pressure. Last year was a nightmare They played their cards and tried to blame it on Sammy, the idiot fans that are always there bought it hook, line, and sinker. They ran the broadcasters out of town as well. Then added more seating, raised prices across the board and hired two corporate shills to broadcast the games. (Brently said that Maddux pitched BRILLIANTLY the other night )

But, the media and enough fans are savvy enough that this year will be even more pressure. As the team collapses we may see Dusty run out of town. ANd what's even funnier, is that 'Evil Stoney' isn't going away. He's more dangerous than ever. He'll be working every game on the radio, but NOT for Tribco! Ooooops! Kerry Wood is already crying about it. Hey Kerry! How about throwing strikes and not crying about the media for once!

My only question is what will happen more? Kerry Wood walks allowed? Or Corey (our leadoff guy)Patterson strikeouts?

Very nice post Jistic, I agree with you on every point. It'll be interesting to see how Sammy does this year. Obviously my view on the Cubs is slanted with being a Sox fan but I too think they should have held on to Sammy atleast until they could have gotten a good bullpen guy for him. Getting Hariston Jr. didn't fill a need at all.

Carlos was nasty today. I love the intensity he brings. If Prior could stay healthy i wouldnt care if Wood only won 14 games a year. As for corky this team is better off no matter what we got for him, now if we could just trade Dusty.

So will you say they're better off even if they lose more games this year and don't make the playoffs?

Yes I would because they didnt make the playoffs last year or win any titles with his sideshow. The addition by subtraction is that you get rid of a me first player who cares more about hitting 700 home runs than winning a title. Its been hashed t death. Yes I wish they could have gottenmore but his salary dictated what they got.
