And I predict that Yankees finish in last place in the AL East and the Wild Card."It's just Manny being Manny, man."

sad to hear Bellhorn is gone. We wouldn't have won that championship without him.
Thanks for the memories
on to bigger fish though.....
Foulke struck by line drive
By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff | August 19, 2005
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Red Sox reliever Keith Foulke was hit just above the right elbow by a batted ball as he pitched batting practice to Trot Nixon Friday afternoon.
Sign up for: Globe Headlines e-mail | Breaking News Alerts Foulke, who is recovering from knee surgery, was pitching batting practice to Nixon, who's recovering from strained oblique muscle. Both players are on the disabled list. Foulke was not using the protective screen that many batting practice pitchers use and he was struck on the arm on the third pitch he threw. The session was then cut short. Nixon said that Foulke told him the ball hit him just above the right elbow, striking the fleshy part of the arm and not bone.
Foulke was icing his arm in the clubhouse before Friday night's game.
Nixon also said that he's expecting to go on re-hab assignment this weekend, maybe playing for Pawtucket Sunday. He hopes to then rejoin the Sox in Kansas City Tuesday.

What a weird past 24 hours for the Red Sox. They're up 1-0 right now over the Angels in the fourth, hopefully the offense busts through one of these innings against Lackey as they've let him off the hook in each of the first 3 innings.Comment

Red Sox designated second baseman Mark Bellhorn for assignment.
It's unlikely that anyone will take Bellhorn's salary. He'll probably clear waivers, remain with the organization and rejoin the Red Sox on Sept. 1How 'Bout 'Dem Boys From Beantown: 86-63Comment

Ortiz has been doing this crap all season. He needs to realize that just because he didn't swing, doesn't mean it's not a strike!Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment

Great 1-2-3 ninth by Schilling. After getting screwed out of a strike three on the 1-2 which was the same pitch Ortiz and Manny struck out on, he came back and threw a nasty split to get the K.Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment

Re: Official Boston Red Sox 2005 Thread
That third strike was right there against Ortiz, I don't know what he saw. Maybe Rickey Henderson was his favorite player growing up, because both guys seem to think there's no such thing as a called strike. Too bad that outburst is going to cost him some games.
That 8th inning really irritated me, only because I personally knew they were going to try and the double steal and it seemed like Timlin/Varitek weren't even thinking about it. Its one thing to put the tieing run on base, but you can't let him get into scoring position at will. At least they won and Schilling dominated. I want to see more of that Schilling and less of that guy we saw in Detroit.Comment
