Re: Official Boston Red Sox 2005 Thread

Anyone else watch the Pawsox on NESN tonight? Great game for the offense. It's 12-2 in the 8th. Pedroia has 2 hits and a walk. Shoppach had a double, HR and 5 RBI's.

Joey Gathwright(sp) for Durham is as fast a player as i've seen, but man does he stink in the field. He misplayed 2 balls in the outfield that were just pathetic. BJ Upton wasn't very impressive either, keeping an inning alive when he couldn't get an easy DP ball out of his glove.

I would just like to point out, in my first post in this thread, that with the Baltimore loss to Toronto tonight, the Sox are now .5 games back in the AL East.

Another great win for the Red Sox tonight. A pair of 3-run HR's by Mirabelli and Manny for the 8-0 win. Wakefield was dominant with the 8 inning, 2 hit shutout.

In the 3 games since Mirabelli came off the DL Wake is 2-0, and allowed only 1 run and 13 hits in 22 innings.

Yankees lost to Pedro and the Mets and Baltimore loses to Atlanta.

Red Sox are in 1st place in the AL East for the first time since last April.

Sorry Baltimore, the jig is up.

Is it just me, or was Wakefield's delivery tonight slightly different? Like he was slinging his arm more? Keep in mind I only got to see the 8th inning. Great win though!

Nice win for Petey too. He sure shut up that Yankee crowd after the Jeter homer to lead off the game.

Darn it, I wanted Baltimore to win :P Anything to frustrate the Yankees and keep 'em falling further and further back is always a good thing

Renteria to Bellhorn to Ortiz just looked like Tinker to Evers to Chance.

It's 100 degrees in Boston and the Sox are just as hot...life is good.

Ortiz has played a solid 1B so far this year. Everyone assumes he can't field but that is definitely not the case.

Another impressive win for the Red Sox. If you had told me they'd only allow 1 run in the first 2 games in Philly, I would've laughed. Manny is on a tear with his average up to .275 and another HR today.

Philly didn't look comfortable at all today. Utley had a couple poor plays and the CF badly misplayed a ball early that led to some runs.

What was with that play by Utley? The one where the ball was hit to his left but he moved to his right? That was pretty bizarre. Another great win for the Sox though and a Baltimore loss, thats all I care about!

One really can't add anything worthwhile to Red Sox discussion lately because there's nothing to kvetch about. You can only add so many "Wow they're damn good"'s without sounding redundant.
Everything is going superb with this team right now. If this hot streak can carry into the All-Star break, that'd be tremendous.

Hopefully, when this streak of hot starting pitching comes to an end, people don't start complaining about how this team isn't good enough like we saw a couple weeks ago. I think it is now clear that this ballclub will put up a strong title defense.

A healthy Curt Schilling is the best mid-season acquisition we could make. His arm should be nice and fresh going into the 2nd half. Hopefully the ankle holds up.
