Re: Official Boston Red Sox 2005 Thread

Cora has another year on his contract after this season, worth 1.4 mil. It was basically just a salary dump for Cleveland. Stern has to be on the 25 man roster this season unless we trade for his rights with Atlanta. I don't think it would make much sense for Stern to be the 4th OF, seeing as how he bats from the same side as Damon and Nixon. Chip would be a much better replacement, as he bats right handed and could do basically the same thing Jay Payton did.

Just heard Gammons on EEI saying that he believes JP will be heading to Oakland for a reliever.

The younger the better from that organization. You have to think Kotsay is closer to the door if they want a piece of Payton.

Yeah, hopefully Kotsay isn't going to NY....

The deal would be a steal if we got Cruz, but seeing as though Beane isn't a tard it'll just probably be a good prospect.

That was one bad lineup last night, Mr. Francona. I hate to see a game cut short by the rain, especially one that was that close. Oh well.

ESPN.com is reporting that the deal with Oakland for Jay Payton will be for Chad Bradford, but the deal cannot be announced until after Bradford is activated from the disabled list.

Ohplease ohplease ohplease ohplease. This guy has a career ERA of under three and a half and while last year was one of his worst, I think this is about all we coulda gotten for Payton at this point.

Is there any truth of Millar demanding a trade?

I would like to trade him to ATL for Kolb. I think Kolb could still be fixed by Wallace.

Yes there is truth to it.

That would make sense since Rem Dog said last night that there's a clubhouse rumor that Payton was already dealt to Oakland for someone currently on the DL...

If Leo can't help Kolb, nobody can. He just sucks under pressure.

But hey, if you want him....all the better.

Yeah if Leo can't fix you, you may want to start thinking about life after baseball.

I never thought WEEI would be this good, I think it's the "Big Show" on right now.

Really good stuff, alot better than Sporting News radio

The Yomiuri Giants have put Gabe Kapler on waivers, and once he passes through them, he'll be eligible to sign with Red Sox on the 15th. Looks like Stern needs to make a pretty quick first impression, or he's going back to Atlanta.
