    Re: Official N.Y. Mets Thread

Looks like after last night, the New Mets are the same as the old Mets, with a nobody completely dominating the Mets lineup.

Time will tell if Joe Blanton can turn into some guy I've never heard of at the time on the Twins that turned out to be a fantastic pitcher in Johan Santana, or if he'll turn into Jimmy Anderson.

Beltran looks more injured than he and the team are letting on. Maybe a stint on the DL would help him out.

How can this team only manage two runs in two games with Joe Blanton and Dan Haren starting? What is wrong with this team? Why is this team looking more and more like a 100 loss team all of a sudden instead of a team that's supposed to be in it but ending up around .500 or a little bit over it?

It makes me a little steamed that the Mets can't beat a team that the Yankees dominated this season.

Willie needs to shake up this lineup. There is no reason why David Wright should be batting 7 or 8 to "pay his dues". He is our most consistent hitter and he needs to be up when runners are on base.

I appreciate all that Piazza has done for this team, but his career is over. Move him down in the lineup. I also think that Beltran is NOT a number 3 hitter. His salary should not dictate where he bats in our lineup. He should be batting number 2.

Overall, I think Willie has done a decent job, but I have never liked the lineups he puts together.

Well, despite Beltran not being really healthy, he hit a nice little homer So far the Mets are getting the runs back they lacked in the first two games against Blanton and Haren. Keep it going

Pedro is being outdueled by a 2-8 pitcher??

            Why?

WHY DOES THIS TEAM KEEP PLAYING TO THE LEVEL OF THE COMPETITION???

Even without the injuries, I mean, I know a team is in trouble when Brian Daubach is in the lineup. There's a reason why this guy's in the minors and all, but all in all there is no excuse for being shutout by this guy.

This team's gotten back to the frustrating, lifeless ways of the last few seasons, and there is no end in sight.

Franklin with a shutout through 5. THROUGH FIVE?? WHAT GIVES??

                Another 0-4 night foir Beltran.

If they can't put him on the DL.. put Cameron in Center and Diaz in right. Beltran is obviously still hurting, so why's he playing? You really can't risk that injury becoming a career killer.

Good series win over the Phillies. I'll be at the Yankees game on Sunday... its been 4 years since I've been to a Subway Series game.

                      Big win tonight!

Pedro looked like the 100-ish pitch Pedro early on, but settled and dominated, looking as motivated as he has been all season.

Several nice defensive plays by Cameron and Beltran helped. Beltran looked like he knocked himself out on that amazing catch over his head.

Looper should stop giving me heart attacks, darn it. That four pitch walk was awful. Tino had a good swing though on that high fastball. The Cano groundout kind of spooked me, but they got him out And Wright making that play off of the bunt.. charging in like that, showing a ton of hustle.. amazing. He may still make mistakes in the field sometimes, but he can also make some great plays. A-Rod doesn't make that play, IMO

Bottom line is that this team is ENTIRELY different on the road. They seriously need to pick it up on those "long" road trips, particularly when they head out west later. We look much better at home and we need to carry that over.

                            Let's Go Mets!

BTW, Petit pitched another good game today. I'm looking forward to seeing him and Milledge at the Future's Game!

Watching on TV, it looked and sounded like there was a lot of Mets fans there. Was that the case, or were the Yankees fans so depressed after the TB series that they weren't making any noise? The announcers commented that the Yankees usually try to limit the # of tickets that go to Mets fans, but it didn't look like they were too successful this year.

It was good to see Pedro get a win in Yankee Stadium. Seeing him shut down a team like that when he doesn't have his best stuff really makes me wish he was still in a Boston uniform.
