Why the hell did Willie sit out Flyod today? He didn't need a rest, he too hot to sit.

We are treating him like Piazza. No afternoon games following an evening matchup the night before. Just don't want him to reinjure his side.

You can tell tonight's a good game when Zambrano is on the mound and the Mets are winning 6-1 . They are playing great despite Zambrano's best efforts.

Zambrano only had one bad inning last night. It was actually one of his better performances which isn't saying much.

Get Heilman in the rotation and designate Zambrano for assignment. Scary thought that yesterday's start was the best one Zambrano had in a Mets uniform.

EDIT: What's the status on Barry Zito's contract? Maybe the guy needs a change of location to prosper this season?

today was rough. We didn't deserve to even be in the game and we still had a great shot to win it.

That's a sign of a good team, but you can't win all the time with games like that.

Kaz Ishii might bump either Zambrano or Heilman from the rotation? I hope it's Zambrano, but I don't think Ishii is the answer. Again, I have to wonder about Zito's contract. With Beltran locked in at CF, I'd think Lastings Milledge would be available. He fits the mold of what the A's want, a cheap ballplayer. Milledge and a couple of mid-tier prospects for Zito would probably be a good trade, since the A's are pretty much TERRIBLE this year(well, right now anyway). Zito could be rejuvenated in Shea with his old pitching coach, so in this case, depleting the farm system a little bit more might not be a bad move.

Completely agree. At least we have a chance to win the game with offense if Heilman's on the mound.

That's tough... if we shopped for him, and he was on the market, I'm sure that's a definite deal that would need Cameron... and I'm still on the mindset that you don't want to get rid of Cameron until the last possible minute. He's producing, more than we thought he would, and Diaz can't replace him. He's a decent filler, but no Cameron, especially defensively.

Heilman had a decent start today, not great, but not bad.. 7Ks, but that Mabry homer was a killer. The offense just didn't get much going today.

I don't know if Cameron would be the 'moneyball' player the A's require to make the deal. He's not exactly cheap, which is the only thing that he has that would keep him from being a bargaining chip. He does have everything else needed. I would be surprised if the Mets decide to negotiate with the A's to get Zito the heck off of that team and the A's would want Cameron in return. Cameron is producing right now but he is making a bit too much for the A's to take on. If he was making half of what he makes, then yea, they will go for him.

Heilman is growing on me. He's gonna be a nice #3 in a few years.

I agree with you fsquid. I think Heilman needed to find himself again on the mound. I heard that Peterson changed his delivery more back to what he was doing at Notre Dame and that has helped his consistancy. I would rather keep him in the rotation, so something with Isihi and dump Zambrano now. If anyone would give us more than a pair of cleats for the guy the Mets should take the deal.

Trading for Zito would be nice, but I dont know how much he has left. I thought I heard one the ESPN guys say he lost some speed on his fastball and the batters are able to handle it now. I dont know if you can fix that with just getting him back under Peterson. A trade involving Cameron would be fine, but the Mets would have to eat some of the salary.
