Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Word starting to leak out that Leslie will re-commit to NC State. Disappointed to hear that, but wish the kid well if that happens.
I hate when kids are influenced so much by people that don't have the kid's best interest at heart. Unfortunately it is a BIG part of these kid's lives until they can get out of college and go pro. But then again, it probably continues to happen.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Yeah, really. Let me guess. You are going to talk about WWW again. Wow what a shocker.
Let's think about that for a second. The only thing that ANYONE has ever said that WWW does is council a kid. He advices him which school/coach would be a great fit for him, what he needs to do to work on his game, and then the kid decides from there. What do you think happens? WWW calls a kid 100 times a day begging him to go to UK, Oregon, where ever?
And that is a WHOLE lot different than what happens with a lot of kids whether it be a parent or otherwise pushing a kid to go to a school that will accomplish nothing for him besides being closer to home.
With that said, I am not condoning WWW. He is (or was) what he is (or was) and there is nothing I can do about it. If I knew or thought that he was doing more than advising kids to which is the best school/coach for them and giving them contacts to better their career, then I would have a lot more negative things to say. But there is a BIG difference between doing that than having family and family friends push a kid to somewhere that he doesn't necessarily want to go to, or at least not a first choice, that offers nothing but a chance to stay close to home.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
But Leslie isn't even my point. It happens with kids all the time. Have you never heard a kid say he wanted to go somewhere but his mom wouldn't let him. Let the kid play where he wants.
And if you want to talk about looking out for Leslie and his best interests, then please tell me what Lowe can do better than Calipari or Kentucky. Anything besides being close to home. Anything at all.#WeAreUKComment

In the case of Leslie, it is a whole lot more than his parents looking out for him.

There are many things that NCSU has to offer, maybe he just prefers Raleigh over Lexington?Comment

BTW for all the WWW gives Cal's players people:
Selby will likely choose Kansas on Saturday. Does that mean that Self is a sleazeball now too that works with WWW? Just curious because I know I have heard that a time or two on here since before Selby de-committed from UT.
"Selby talked to WWW, decommitted from UT and will go to UK" (in case someone here asks me to share where that quote came from, it isn't a quote. It is summarizing some of the comments I have read here and everywhere else)#WeAreUKComment

It was one thing to say that Rose was paid to go to Cal. It was one thing to say that Evans was paid to go to Cal. But after 3 straight years of top 5 draft picks at PG and 2 going #1, if the #1 PG doesn't go to Kentucky the only legitimate explanation is that either he's a genius and wants to go to Harvard or Yale or he's an idiot and cannot qualify.Comment

Last time a high profile player committed to UDM it didn't quite work out (Brandon Cotton, although IIRC he had some terrible injury or something).Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Yes, JUST like Brian Clifton. Wall wouldn't be recruited by Williams because of something that happened between him and Clifton. Clifton tried as hard as he could to keep Wall from going to UK. Wanted him to go to Duke or Miami. Then the other Clifton was hired on at Baylor so there was talk of Wall possibly going there.
But in the end, Wall wanted to play for Calipari. Period. And he wouldn't allow Clifton to steer him away. Good for him. Not a lot of kids can do that to parents or father/mother-like figures.
It's terrible.#WeAreUKComment

B. Cotton didn't commit to UDM, he went to State first and quickly left. Then he got into the accident that messed up 3 fingers on his left hand which resulted in the tip of his middle finger getting amputated. UDM haven't had a high profile player actually commit to them for as long as I can remember.Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Michigan
