Second...one question...if Calipari is so "clean", then why did UK pass on him the first time around and hire Billy Gillespie? Cal was easily the better coach and recruiter, why did UK pass on him then and hire him now?

Let me ask you countryboy, how should I respond to that post? Do you think I should also just shut up and go sit in a corner? The guy not only attacked Cal but he also attacked me. Of course I will blow up.

Because there is a "perception" about him and our AD didn't bother looking further into it then. They did on this search. They spoke with the NCAA and did their due diligence. Found nothing and hired him.

Quick question, has there ever been a time a UK fan came into this forum or any other that you know of, and just started defending Calipari? Or is it usually in defense of someone attacking Cal or Kentucky?

I'm not answering for fear of you getting bent out of shape. Again..it was amusing to me to see you blow up. Don't get offended, wasn't attacking you nor your boys in blue. It was light-hearted in nature.

So three years ago, I think it was, his program wasn't under investigation and they passed on him due to fear of his "way of doing things". Last year, with his program under investigation, they hire him?

no, but I've seen UK fans come into the forums and cast stones at other coaches in the same mannerisms thats being cast at Cal.

OK, I guess. The reason why I asked that is because everyone is saying how defensive we are. Well if we (meaning our coach, school, state) are being attacked, then I think the only thing left to do is defend...no?

Furthermore, have you seen me at any point come in and try to instigate with fans of other schools? P2K has done just that to me and therefore I defended. If that makes me a bad person, then I guess I am a bad person. But I didn't come into this thread or any thread looking to have to defend myself, my fandom or anything to do with UK. He came AT ME, not the other way around.

I will admit that I have allowed P2K to upset me more than I should have. I think I need to take a different tone with UK basketball and the people that hate us or our coach.

I'll figure something out, but I'm quite sure it won't be liked. But hey, nobody likes coach Cal, not many people like UK, might as well make people not like me either.

You made it sound like he doesn't win other than beating bad teams. That is untrue.



Being a good recruiter is much more important than being a good coach.

Gary Williams can coach circles around Roy Williams, but Roy Williams always outrecruits Gary by a margin measurable in light years. Being the best coach is about more than recruiting, but recruiting is definitely items 1, 2, and 3 when it comes to determining the best coach.

LOL...why are you making a big deal out of this? I told you, it was light-hearted in nature, my "LOL @ blowup". I wasn't insuiating you were wrong or a "bad person", just laughing at the situation.

You don't need to justify you're actions to me, nor do I care why you came into the forums or that he attacked you or whatever...I was just laughing at the situation.

Seriously, its not a big deal, nothing to defend/justify yourself over, and there was no ill intent meant by that post.

And that's your problem. I haven't said anything different than what others have. Hell, I was even being nice by trying the best I could to explain the mindset...and not only did you get defensive, you blew up like Donald Duck chasing after Huey, Dewey and Louie.

I don't know if it's a left brain/right brain dealy or what, but the fact that you refuse to even try to listen to reason is strange. What's even more strange and, in fact, kind of scary is that the thought someone trying to reason with you enrages your very being.

countryboy, I have no issues with you and wasn't taking offense to your posts, just conversing. But I really don't want to get into with you because like I said, I have no issues with you at all.

But to respond to your last two posts, a couple of things. One, I am perfectly fine with people not liking UK or Calipari. But if they attack, I will defend. Sorry if you or anyone else thinks that's stupid or silly, but that's how it is for me. Two, I am not trying to say "might as well make people not like me either" because I really don't care. BHut I may take on a different posting technique that some people may not like. If that makes them not like me, then so be it. I am well within my rights to do this if I choose. I try to be respectful of my posts and try not to attack people. If I have in the past unwarranted, then I have apologized. But I think it is my right to defend when attacked. So to sum it up, I am fine with it, I will defend and I will continue to come into these forums.
