Good grief, what did Calipari do that was wrong? He recruited the kid. The kid made a rash decision and called Cal to let him know of such, and he ends up committing to UK afterwards. So please tell me what Cal did that was so wrong?

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Calipari did nothing wrong, nor has he ever been guilty of doing anything wrong. The media and ignorant opposing fans like to twist two non-related incidents involving Marcus Camby and Derrick Rose FIFTEEN YEARS APART and blame Cal for forcing Camby to take money from a street agent and for clearing Rose to play. "Two Final Fours, Two Final Fours!!" That's what sticks in everyone's mind. Not the facts.....Calipari wasn't named in either report yet that fact is often swept under the rug or ignored completely. Why? Because the guy wins and recruits like no other. And now he's coaching Kentucky. It's inevitable people are going to take shots at him (such as in this case) especially when the truth is often neglected. And you know what? I'm loving every second of it. God help America if he wins a national title. I'm sure Pat Forde's head will explode!
I'm still waiting for Outside the Lines to run a report on why the NCAA cleared Rose to play, backtracked, and then penalized the school for their mistake. Of course, Darrell Arthur of Kansas gets into school with a bogus high school English score and nobody makes mention of this. By the NCAA's logic, Kansas should be stripped of their title, right? But whoops, Rose misses some free throws in the national title game, Chalmers hits a miracle shot, Kansas wins, and their title stands while we all have to pretend that Memphis never played in the game. GUARANTEE if Memphis would have held onto that game Kansas would of been forced to give up their runner-up trophy (always less controversey to penalize the losers than take away a championship). But alas, the NCAA plays by the Golden Rule....those with the gold make the rules!
Speaking of Terrence Jones, how is this case any different than Kelvin Sampson getting Eric Gordon to change his committment from Illinois to Indiana? Or Michael Beasley changing his mind to attend Kansas State after he had committed to Charlotte? Why hasn't this been mentioned yet in this thread?Last edited by wildcatchild; 05-20-2010, 08:35 PM."He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph RuppComment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
But you have to understand man, this is CONSTANT from people that NEVER look at the facts like wildcatchild said. You can call him whatever you want. You can say whatever you want about UK. But the FACT remains, Calipari has NEVER been found guilty of anything. In fact, Roy Williams has. Rick Pitino has. Many many other high profile coaches over the years have. Yet because Calipari is probably the best at what he does (recruiting) and gets kids that other schools want, opposing fans feel the need to yell "HE CHEATED" when there is ZERO proof.
I have said this before and wildcatchild alluded to it above, but this happens because UK is back on top again. You didn't hear anything over the past 12 years about UK because we were quite frequently irrelevant. We heard it when Pitino was at UK, but not since. Now we are relevant again and opposing teams fans hate it. Its a fact.#WeAreUKComment

That being said I have no problem with a kid having a change of heart. They only get to play college basketball once so, they need to make the best possible decision for them even if it means going back on a previous decision.Comment

Really pathetic and sad. It's a shame that a 17 year old has to put up with that.Comment

People have called Calipari a cheater when he was at UMass, and when he was at Memphis. Really has nothing to do with Kentucky.
BTW, I wasn't aware losing in the Elite 8 means you are back on top. I thought Kentucky had a little higher standards than that.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
35 wins and the 2nd straight year with the number one recruiting class with a very good possibility for 3 straight years. Oh yeah, and Cal has been here what? 13 months?
Yeah, we're back on top.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Would be interested to hear how what wildcatchild is wrong? I believe Calipari has the best record over a 4 years stretch than any other current Division 1 coach. Don't feel like looking it up but he has like 16 losses over the past 4 years combined. I guess I can see how that is so funny.#WeAreUKComment
