Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
I've pretty much stayed out of these Calipari debates, but this line just rubs me the wrong way:
He told me, "You hurt thousands of people just as much as you make people happy."Last edited by LiquidCrash; 04-30-2010, 11:18 PM.Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
I just hope he doesn't let this change his mind. It just baffles me that a 50 year old man would do crap like this to 18 year old kids. We obviously don't know this, but I highly doubt Coach K, Bill Self, Jim Boeheim, etc. would do something like this.Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Pretty sure you guys read that the wrong way. Jones told that to the writer of the article. Got to love everybody trying to find ANY way to bring Cal down. It's hilarious really.

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
It seems pretty clear that the gist of Cal's call to Jones is summed up in that line. I doubt Jones pulled the idea of "disappointing thousands of people" out of thin air.
But maybe Cal just called to wish him well at UW.Comment

He = Terrence Jones. If Terrence Jones was the one saying that's what Cal told him, it would look like this... "He told me, you hurt thousands of people just as much as you make people happy." The quotation marks being in a different place make it an entirely different meaningComment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Yes, it does. Perhaps I am wrong. I still find it a bit shady to call him minutes after the announcement in an attempt to change his mind. But I'm sure more will come out about this situation one way or another.Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
What the hell are you even talking about? Spin it? Anyone with a 2nd grade education can read that article and figure out what he was trying to say. The sentence right before that he talked about how troubled Jones was with the decision.
Posted on his facebook yesterday:
Sounds exactly the same as "you hurt thousands of people just as much as you make people happy?"
That post by Jones was made before the announcement. It was Thursday not Friday nite. IMO it was shady for Cal to call him after his announcement. We all knew Cal was desperately trying to sway him. It was obvious Cal tried to put a guilt trip on Terrence. How could u do that to an 18 year old? Cal should be ashamed.Last edited by dopeboy206; 05-01-2010, 02:52 AM.Comment

Dressed in black tuxedo, black shirt and tie, he reached for the Kansas hat before picking up the black UW cap, which matched his attire.
In the background, Ross leapt with excitement and pumped his fists as Jones embraced his parents.
"I'm pretty much glad this whole recruiting thing is over," Jones said. "I wouldn't want to go through it again because for me it had to do with you disappoint more people than you're making happy.
"It's just a lot of pressure to put on one person. You hurt thousands of people just as much as you make some people happy."Comment

Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread
Of course it was made Thursday night. I posted it to show that he didn't pull the hurting quote out of thin air. It's obvious it's something that was in his mind for awhile and that's why he said nearly the same thing on 2 seperate occasions. Where are you getting the guilt trip bull from? Like was said already in this thread, Jones called Cal. Jones is the one that said the quote about hurting people, NOT Cal.
It was the other way around Cal called Jones. One of the Seattle sports writer was there and even wrote it down on his blog. Where are u getting the idea Jones called Cal. Also about Jones quoting what Cal told him is obviously giving him a guilt trip. It was an emotional day for a 17 year old kid why would Cal want to butt in like that? As much as u love your UK wildcats and me rooting for my UW Huskies that is low and dirty. U and I both know it. Everyone else not part of UK or Husky nation knows it too. Why would anyone want to put a guilt trip on a 17-18 year old. I completely lost respect for Calipari. He is what I call a cockblocker.Last edited by dopeboy206; 05-01-2010, 03:36 AM.Comment
