No need to give 2k money that they don't deserve

2k deserves the money on the Gameplay alone. The game plays amazing. It's just the game modes that's screwed up. Still worth having IMO over current gen. I was at a point where I couldn't even look at current gen anymore, it ruined any fun I possibly could have had knowing I was looking at an inferior game. I would have just gotten bored real fast playing essentially the same game again.

I have to say that 2K14 is a major letdown when it comes to modes not named MYPlayer. MyGM is nothing but one team association with dialogue between a person making decisions.

I want more control over what other teams do and their lineups. The dreaded sixth man (Ginoboli and Terry) crap has already started after the first month just like Association. The logic is still the same and I question what was actually worked on other than adding text to Association mode.

fix what you have before adding on 2k...

I get the point too. I know gameplay is awesome and I've seen it 200000 times this last week. I just don't feel in the need of telling people that I know and they have to tell me something new.

I'm wondering if this cloud gaming feature both system keep telling us about could fix all this?. If they can change the way players look (hairstyle, accessories, etc) couldn't they in theory add or change gamemodes?...

I don't know why I keep writing about this. I truly wonder what happened to the people who worked on 2K6 and 2K11 and what happened afterwards, why did their mindset change? Did Take Two tell them to step up, change direction?

Whoever is in charge of the Dev team, is it still the same guy since 2006 or is it someone totally new?

This game could have been so good. I just don't get why they can leave basic stuff out and implement really difficult stuff. Doesn't make sense.

Some of you have really short term memory (and that's coming from someone who has horrible memory). If I recall correctly, when 2K made the 360/PS3 leap last gen, the game was mostly a port except for the graphics. And they were roundly criticized on these boards as many appreciated EA's direction of trying to offer completely new/distinct gameplay experiences from what their previous generation's games were. I remember tons of people on these boards willing to give EA years to get those games right. It's only now we see they never did (well with Madden and Live at least).

Perhaps some of you in retrospect are saying you just wanted a prettier version of the game that released a few months ago - and that's your right. But the whole questioning 2K's efforts, or what happened to the team nonsense is ridiculous. They just released a hugely upgraded current gen version of the game which you seem to be completely discounting.

I wouldn't say it was the dev team that changed from this gen compared to last; imo it's more a certain contingent on the boards not having the patience they would've shown last generation. Given that much of the next gen game appears to be new, instead of looking at it from the perspective that things were removed it's entirely possible that perhaps there wasn't time to get things added/tested properly - and so it was safer to go with the new stuff than try to integrate everything, only to have something not work, and people blow the whole thing off as broken. Which I'm sure some will still try to push anyway

2K really has that tendency to remove/brake things that where really good and had became a standard in the series. I can see how people are frustrated by that. They only hype what they add but they never mention what they arbitrary removed or what really doesn't work.

I predicted that 2K14ng was gonna be a more casually oriented beta version type of game. I think I was pretty close.

When I see 2K14 NG all I can say is that I can't wait for 2K15 to come out. If they play their cards right it should be a phenomenal all around basketball game. I see that potential.

I thought they were going to take CAP to the next level on next gen. Allowing us to put our own faces in and a lot more customisation. Instead they took it out completely

I'm giving this year a mulligan because it's the first game of a new gen.....but if this isn't just some one year thing then I'm going to be furious. If they pulled a madden and striped this games customizability to push people online so that people buy their dumba** dlc my opinion of them will be forever changed

Did they not see how ticked off people got when tiburon tried to do this with madden???

Quite frankly 2K...your rosters are awful IMO and one of the things that sets this series above other sports games is the ability to use and share this communities fantastic roster edits

I hope OS and the rest of the media presses for answers about this when interviews and marketing starts to churn out for 15

It's one thing to not implement things due to time constraint and perhaps limitations due to newer technology (ie Create a player - I don't think it would look too good with modified players especially with higher res), but it's another to leave out BASIC features within the interface. Features such as pressing pause and not seeing how much you score each quarter. Features such as not being able to pick Random teams in quick game (which is huge for me during tourney games with my buddies). Features such as sorting the league leaders and being able to see who the top players are(try sorting by Turnovers and see who's leading, you'll be forced to scroll left).

Little things like these not being implemented is just sloppy...not what I expected from 2K.

I agree. But i do have one question for 2k. shouldn't 2k15 completely blow us away? I mean all througout 2k14 release on current gen, they kept saying they couldn't fix stuff because current gen didn't have the memory or what not needed to do all the fixes. I just want to know if we are going to get a better game for 2k15(beyond better graphics and minor fixes here and there, as well as recycled modes that they'll claim as new that they really just took out of the game and brought back). Or was the "we can't improve currrent gen gameplay" an excuse so they wouldn't strait up say we fixed nothing.

Cuz i for one am looking for all around noticeable improvement to ai logic in every mode in 2k15. Because this was something that they claimed couldn't be fixed anymore in current gen cuz they ran out of memory or what not. And this bad ai logic has been one of 2ks glaring weaknesses over the years, that they just seem to not want to improve upon.

Here's what I think might have happened,

Back when the NBA Live actually meant something and 2K was just making baby steps, Visual Concepts had to create a strong brand positioning for their competing basketball game, mainly because, like with all competitors, they needed to offer a different thing. NBA Live was seen as a fun pick up and play game and 2K realized there was a rising market with a demand without an offer. They were looking for something a bit more realistic, and smartingly so, 2K went down the simulation path.

With all the canceled games, the NBA Live brand has been fading well into oblivion since 2010, forcing users to buy NBA 2K for their videogame basketball pleasures whether "sim" was their thing or not. With 2K being the de-facto choice for sim and non sim players alike for at least three releases, the game's popularity (and sold copies) rose to previously uncharted waters.

Here we are now, with 2K having captured two very different crowds. The thing is, they don't want to lose any of their "new customers".
