Yes I agree, it is a little curious. Though, I say that not knowing exactly how these games are put together. But yeah, it's a little tough for me to reason as to how something like create-a-player could be withheld from general use throughout the game, yet VC, MyGM and MyCareer can appear so full in their first next generation appearance.

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
Have to say, I had to this game gifted to me and it's really not as bad as this thread has made it sound. MyGM isn't quite the abomination that I thought it was going to be. As far as paying VC to edit rotations, it's a one time fee. You acquire the Level 1 skill for a minimal amount of VC and you can edit rotations as you please for the rest of your career. That being said, the new menus DO suck and the fact that you can't change season length in MyGM really blows.
Point being, don't let this thread sour you on the MyGM mode before you play it yourself.Tell your line to protect on this play. Heck, tell your line to protect on every play; not just here.

I'm pissed at 2k because it's almost been a week with the game out and we don't even have the slightest idea of when we will be getting a roster update.
I thought for sure there was going to be a day 1 roster update.Comment

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
It's funny (not really), cause there were a few of us that saw this (the influx of VC into MyGM) coming. There was a thread here somewhere where someone asked the VC question, and a few of us commented in the thread about this very direction, only we were "guessing". Funny how spot on our "guesses" turned to be.
I caught holy hell in the Official MyGM Developer's Diary thread from a bunch of ppl because I remarked how I wanted to play a BASKETBALL game, and not a Sims game. That I didn't wanna sit around having fake conversations, trying to keep random ppl happy. I remarked that all they had to do was fix some issues in Association, and that it woulda been beautiful. I was told I needed to "stick to current gen" (even though I passed on it altogether), "grow up" and "challenge" myself. Guess it's safe to say I'm having the last laugh, and contrary to what most may believe, I'm not the least bit happy about it.
I haven't gone near Season or MyGM yet, but from what I've read, all the "legacy" issues remain in full force, plus they took away the option to turn Player Roles off, which adds that much more frustration to the mode. Add the fact that VC REQUIREMENTS are peppered all over the place, and you're talking about a nightmare. I understand that they (atleast some of them) want to progress, and that's certainly to be commended, but you can't "create" a new mode built on top of a foundation that was already flawed to begin with. They stripped away the walls of a perfectly fine house (Association), built a beautiful Mansion in it's place (MyGM), not realizing that the main problems resided in the foundation. House looks great, but damn if water isn't still appearing in the basement. And if you step back a few feet, you'll notice that nasty lean that plagues the house. Gotta fix that stuff before you build on top of it.
But that's not all...They then added card readers on certain doors of said mansion. Wanna access this room? Swipe your credit card please. Hungry? The fridge is over there...please insert your card to the right. It's a shame really, cause knowingly or not, they've skidded right into an unseen slippery slope, and they're starting to build steam with no end in sight.
I actually liked the idea I've seen a few different times: make it a Free-to-Play game, and go nuts with the VC. But don't charge us $60, then incorporate all these VC requirements in every damn mode. It's an insult to us as consumers.Comment

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
we know its not real currency, the point is you would, and sometimes are forced to, spend real currency because the game doesn't give you nearly enough to get the things you want.
so please explain how playing the game gives you a fair amount, have you played this game? doesn't seem like it. i was almost halfway into mycareer(30 or so games) and total VC up to that point was 15k VC. thats about an arm sleeve and some nikes, sundown. ARM SLEEVE AND NIKES. thats a decent amount to you? and it took me 4 days to get there by putting more than adequate enough time towards it.
you all justifying this is really ridiculous.
I completely agree that in certain modes, VC rewards and prices are out of whack, where you gain more NOT playing the mode than by playing the mode. This started with MyPlayer in 2K13.
I also agree that prices for certain cosmetic items and shoes are way out of wack. I can understand higher prices for cosmetics, if they kept VC prices reasonable for game progression (skill points, GM abilities, etc), but these are just arm sleeves and shoes, not unique tattoos or anything.
This reminds me of the total debacle of Eve Online when they implemented a clothing store that was priced the same as real life items, thinking they could entice people to pay for fashion items as status symbols but not realizing virtual fashion isn't the same as something real you can wear. They had monocles that were $80. Yes. $80. The store was a disaster and barely used. It also created massive backlash for associated features that excited me, such as being able to walk around in space stations instead of being stuck in your ship.
We're seeing nearly the same here-- backlash for VC and exorbitant prices, now associated with MyGM even though the mode is all kinds of interesting for some of us.
Come on 2K. Balance the VC for game progression and customization. Cut us a break. We already gave you 60 bucks.Last edited by Sundown; 11-21-2013, 03:56 AM.Comment

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
Attribute upgrades and the like are pretty balanced actually. It's mostly the gear that's ridiculously pricey, and probably because they're looking to create a situation where only the most dedicated players can show up in the park with lots of cool equipment. The biggest problem I have with VC is that you can actually purchase VC with real money - remove that, and let everyone use whatever gear they wish, free of charge, within the confines of the single player game modes, and the problem's done away with.Comment

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
I was also thinking, with so much removed from 2K (or "not yet included" for fans of semantics), even if the plan is to eventually re-instate those features, I'm now wondering if this will open a multi-year process in and of itself. For instance, will create-a-player come back in 2K15 but have a 30 player cap?
Clearly, speculating on such matters is just that: speculation. But point being, I'm not sure if it's always as simple as gamers saying, "No prob, first game on console, it'll probably all come back in 2K15."
Regardless, similar to 2K7, I think 2K15 will likely be the real litmus test regarding 2K's next gen direction and focus. And if more historically standard procedures remain absent at that point (local saves, create-a-player, create-a-team, Association freedom) I'm not sure I'll be able to handle a, "Well they can't add everything in one year, just trust them and wait until 2K16" approach.Comment

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
I've had it. Smoove just released a video, and in that video he mentioned how he didn't like the my career story cuz its too scripted. He played a game where he missed a gang of free throws, and it turns out that he missed those free throws as apart of the story plot for a cut scene that came after the game he played. Really 2k really. You screw with the gameplay itself now just to fit your story. Now they've gone too far. Plus smoove also mentioned the vc glitch where the he isn't giving him all of his vc, and I've noticed this as well. Smh I'm done with 2k, wake me if 2k15 is any good.Lakers

Re: Why I'm Pissed At 2K Sports
From the sounds of it, as alluded in the post above yours, the game doesn't make players miss free throws. It's just, if they do, there's a cinematic playout that results. As someone not a fan of the Like Mike angle, I'm still not sure if I support such playouts, but it's surely better than what was initially suggested (that players are made to miss).Comment
