There has to be some under the hood improvements. Was mygm built from the ground up but they ported over association problems? How can it be built from the ground up but have the same exact problems as association? Makes ya think.
Sim stats horrible with default roster. D12 about 10.6 reb per game, CP3 7-8 ast per game, etc. No changes.

With 2K being the de-facto choice for sim and non sim players alike for at least three releases, the game's popularity (and sold copies) rose to previously uncharted waters.

Here we are now, with 2K having captured two very different crowds. The thing is, they don't want to lose any of their "new customers".
Well said, I think you may be correct on this.

That actually sounds on point. I ignored NBA Live for over ten years, but now I admit I miss it - not from a gameplay standpoint - but from what it meant for basketball gaming in general. I much preferred the time when one game concentrated on pick-up-and-play while the other made no qualms about setting out to be as real and authentic as possible.

You're right, it definitely feels like 2K's trying to cater to both crowds and its created a bit of an identity crisis.

At this point I am hoping for some features that we want will some how be patched into the game this year but I know thats wishful thinking, so I will give 2k a pass this year just becuase its on a new system and the on court experience is amazing. But if they continue in the VC/Fantasy direction over the NBA simulation direction in the coming years I really dont see myself being apart of that new style of play.

I still want the game...but I want it fixed so everyone is happy. Customization is everything. I hope they know this. They have to.

I predicted that 2K14ng was gonna be a more casually oriented beta version type of game. I think I was pretty close.

When I see 2K14 NG all I can say is that I can't wait for 2K15 to come out. If they play their cards right it should be a phenomenal all around basketball game. I see that potential.
The game doesn't play that casual really . It's more sim than CG from a GAMEPLAY standpoint. NBA Live if anything is a Beta.

Out of legitimate curiosity, what aspects do you believe would be patchable? Can next gen patch more than current gen?

Truthfully VD if they could patch in more options and settings in the game modes I would be happy such as turning cpu trades off, being able to edit players apperance on other teams, being able to change the cpu teams jerseys before you start a game just to name a few. I feel like these examples are just things that need to be unlocked instead of blocked from user control.

And to your second question I hope they can patch more content then they could on currrent gen, if not there will be alot of people upset.

There's a budget in place for patching and I'll bet my pants that none of our wishes is going to be accommodated. They'll fix glitches, patch in some quick copy/paste crap like court and jersey textures, but we're not gonna see new modes, and most likely not options that weren't in the game to begin with. It simply requires too many man hours to realize.

It's not good business to throw money at people who've already bought their product. They'll focus their efforts on making sure as many as possible pick up the next game in the series.

I'm afraid that you are right. There's still a glimmer of hope that 2K will miraculously fix up some of the omissions they've made, but I highly doubt they'll be anything major.

I really hate it when people say "wait for 2K15, all features will be there and it'll be amazing!". But WHY!? That should be for features that would be Nice-to-Haves...not for features that we've had for the past several years and have been taken off for no reason!

I wouldn't say it was the dev team that changed from this gen compared to last; imo it's more a certain contingent on the boards not having the patience they would've shown last generation.

Given that much of the next gen game appears to be new, instead of looking at it from the perspective that things were removed it's entirely possible that perhaps there wasn't time to get things added/tested properly - and so it was safer to go with the new stuff than try to integrate everything
I don't think you truly got my message. I would love to know what changes were made staff-wise at 2K. What was their plan going forward? Who came up with VC? Who created it/why, what was their motive? Was it to make the game better, was it to make more money, was it to do both?

All great ideas, but poor implementation when your servers are really bad. They make so much money, invest in your server park. There shouldn't be any problems at all.

Why did they add cloud storage, why is an online connection needed, why ...? Notice that I'm not talking about current features that are present or those that got removed. 2K was driving on the sim-highway and took a wrong exit, no idea what's the name of that highway or/and what direction they are heading in.

What supermati wrote, is something I agree with and what has been posted before. They try to cater to 2 different kind of players.

We're probably a very small sim crowd or relatively sim but I want to play an actual NBA game and not something unrealistic. That's why NBA Jam is there.

i like your post OP but there is worse to be discussed about this game. just to add more to what you stated.

after several days with it i decided to just sell it away, i was caught up in the hype of this game and it was one of those mistake purchases. Yes the game looks lovely, its gorgeous and the best visually looking game on next-gen. However, that doesn't take away from everything it lacks.

one of the biggest problems with this game before i even start is you need to be online to play. Not even going to go on about that, that should say enough.

The Park - great idea, poorly executed. You can't play with your friends (has the option but it's just blank) you'll be standing on a got next sign for well over 30 mins just to play one game. Then when you're actually in the game you probably will get booted. if you play on 2k camera its hard to even see the score.

Mycareer - nice addition but again poorly executed. I can't change my skin color and you are given a certain number of preset characters to choose from. current gen create a player is much more detailed than this, its ridiculous to be honest and truly unacceptable. I don't care what anyone thinks usually because 2k can do no wrong in anyones eyes anyway, no one wants to be an actual realist here. not only that but what happened to all the stats? correct me if im wrong but you dont have award races, the ability to compare yourself to everyone else in the league and hell you can't even skip and only play key games you are forced to play every single game.

VC - this will be the achilles live heel to 2k, mark my words. with each passing year everything goes on the VC shop and basically forces you to use actual currency to pay for VC otherwise in about a years time you probably wont have much to show for it. Paying for kicks now, really??? and most are almost touching 10k VC. try getting 10K vc without vc glitching. to my knowledge there is no vc glitch in next gen so your only option is to pay 2k more money, yea no. You really don't get more than 1k vc in a mycareer game and thats on a good day, im sure its like that for every mode as well. Basically everything is super expensive but you only make 400-600 vc. You literally have to be employed by your system and work 8-5 playing 2k just to get a decent amount of vc. come on now, seriously.

after this im done with 2k. i will only buy their game on black friday or used, i won't be supporting them day 1 anymore. I really only want to pay for it used off someone else (at $20 no more than that) thats how much i can't stand 2k. If we all decided to do this some changes would come, unfortunately no one will so there will only be frustration around any forums for a while.

Hopefully you all do the same if you're displeased with what 2k is setting up here. Its sad as i been a huge fan since Iverson was on the cover. now im really just disgusted with everything and anything that involves 2k.

And they were roundly criticized on these boards as many appreciated EA's direction of trying to offer completely new/distinct gameplay experiences from what their previous generation's games were. I remember tons of people on these boards willing to give EA years to get those games right. It's only now we see they never did (well with Madden and Live at least).

Perhaps some of you in retrospect are saying you just wanted a prettier version of the game that released a few months ago - and that's your right. Which I'm sure some will still try to push anyway
do you even read what you write? question efforts is nonsense? have you played this game? have you even seen the menus? have you played mycareer? have you even seen the cluster f*** that the park is? have you noticed all the stuff that is missing? you can tell it was rushed. it is not the same quality and attention to detail as their previous game. It's broken. whether you like to believe so or not it is.

too many people here are blinded by 2k and thats mainly the problem we have here, people blindly supporting a game like this and throwing them money (i was too but not anymore)

eventually i hope you all open your eyes and understand that this new direction will kill the series and years later we will all be here saying how great 2k once was and its a shame that they don't make basketball games anymore. Mostly the fans will be the ones to blame here because the fans are the ones who support this nonsense.

I really really hope live makes a strong comeback. I just spent time reading some other forums and youtube comments, and people actually enjoy this fantasy land 2k has turned into. Lets face it, we are never going to have the 2k we used to know because the casuals outweigh us. They want fantasy and cheesy game aspects, and until they go back to live(which doesn't look like its happening anytime soon) 2k will continue to cater to the casuals, and the cheesy elements will outweigh the sim ones. Don't believe me? read youtube comments on all the 2k videos on youtube, read other sports gaming forums. This is what they want, for these guys the more unreal, the better, and those people outweigh us. I feel this could be last 2k game, at least until i hear different from other osers. Heck this could be my last comment for a long while. Cuz until the osers who want a better sim game, stop buying the game until 2k goes into a more sim direction, then this mess that we've gotten for the last few years will be the norm. I guess just reading what others have said on "casual" forums, has left me discouraged about 2k ever getting back to being full on sim.

Wow. Just finished my first season of MyGM and it's bad enough that they deduct trust points if you refuse to pay VC to fulfill staff requests, but they made training camps in the off-season cost VC? Why don't we earn VC for the same stuff we got reward points for in current gen?

2K's greed seriously knows no bounds. I hope Live comes back strong next year so they can't get away with this **** so easily. I know Live isn't much better, but hopefully competition will make them scale back this nonsense. I wasn't aware this was a ****ing iPhone app that requires you to pay to play. I thought that I'd already paid $60 to get a full game, yet somehow they've put stuff that was free last year behind what is basically a paywall.
