Re: Running List of Classic Teams That Could Be Added Featuring Players Already In Ga

It is truly a shame that 2k seems to have taken a step back from the legends since 2k12. With the removal of a few teams this year not to mention the focus on LBJ, and smaller things such as the legends jerseys looking TERRIBLE, this has been the first year I didn't buy 2k on release date. In fact, I only picked it up a short while ago - but on PC instead. The ultimate base roster puts 2k's generic legend rosters to absolute SHAME.

With that said, I would be interested in picking it 2k15 for console again if they gave the legends a little more love, but I can't see that happening now, not with the bizarre decision to include foreign basketball teams instead of focusing solely on the NBA.

Re: Running List of Classic Teams That Could Be Added Featuring Players Already In Ga

Everyone on this thread has made some terrific points and from some of the comments on this thread it is apparent that there is a hardcore classic gamers still out there.

I really, really wish 2K will act on this thread and insert some extra classic teams. My personal two teams I am holding out for are 2001 Raptors (VC's) and the 2004 Pistons.

As the years continue to pass by, and legends continue to retire, I am concerned that a piece of history will disappear. By this I mean in 2K15 (as it stands) there will be no T-Mac, no Yao Ming, no Ray Allen (if he doesn't return), no Gilbert Arenas or Baron Davis (granted the last two aren't really 'legends', but they were elite players for a decent length of time throughout the decade) and I think it is quite sad that these players will eventually become "lost" to the gaming community.

Come on 2K, please add a couple of legendary teams.

      Thanks.

I hope next week we will have some news about classic team.

Don't worry Da_Czar has our back now since he is a member of 2k. We just have to continue to think of classic teams so 2k can take notice of this thread.

I agree. I have been disappointed since 2k12 as well. Prior to that game, I remember posting something about Madden historic teams and how great it would be if 2k did that with the NBA bringing teams I used on games like NBA Action, Jam, Lakers vs Celtics, etc to the modern gaming era.

That being said, I don't think adding teams is enough. I want more teams but want a mode or a more enjoyable way to use them.

              IDEAS:
              1. Weekly classic rivalries/greatest games uploaded by 2k (played online via match up or team up by users globally to see which team wins most. Think Laker vs Celtics one week and Bulls vs Pistons another, etc. that thousand of users play out. Lakers won 4,300 times while the Celtics won 2,200 times therefore Lakers win that match up. Stats could be averaged as well for the players on those rosters to see how it played out globally). This could be done for current rivalries as well.
1A. These online match ups could also be set up as a tournament/bracket style set up. The winning team of each global match up would move to the next round. This could potentially set up a mix of classic and active teams where the championship rivalry could be something like the 92 bulls vs the today cavs or whatever ended up happening.
              2. In My League- Have the option to "include young legends in drafts". You could adjust the frequency of tier 1 players (such as per draft), tier 2 players (5 per draft, etc)
              3. Classic MY League or MY GM- My League with a full classic team list. Could also have the reverse of #2 above...."include active players in drafts" with the same frequency sliders. (I believe you can customize these leagues to have only classic teams so the only add would be the drafting of active players)

What do you think? What other modes would be fun for a classic focus?

You make some excellent points but favourite way (well not my favourite, but probably the most viable) is for 2K to have a certain classic match-ups each week. I think that would be pretty cool and give some purpose to the classic teams.

As for your other ideas, I think that they are amazing and I truly would love to be given a chance to redo say the 2004 season on my xbox one. However, with classic player licensing issues, I think that this is just a pipe dream at this point in time, no matter how cool an idea it is!

I am just holding out for some 2000- era classic teams to join the 2001 Philadelphia 76ers. I mean even adding the 2002 Sac. Kings back into the game would be a massive positive in my opinion.

Unfortunately though, with the lack of mention for anything classic related (only one mention in the myLeague interview), I feel that any new classics won't occur in the near future. But hey, we still need to keep the ideas coming....

                  Rookie Dwight Magic squad maybe?

                  Thanks.

Great ideas. I say they should re-visit the greatest mode, but with a brand new engine. For example have new legends to be introduce into the mode such as Iverson, Kobe, Shaq,Vince, etc and keep the same legends that are in the mode but in different years of their prime and new matchups such as Wilt,Jordan, Isiah, Pippen,Ewing,Robinson, Karl Malone, Stockton, Kemp, Payton, Magic, Bird, etc and re-visit 2k Legend Showcase, but this time have it in current gen (PS4/XBOX1).

06-07 Raptors for sure. 01-02 Raptors as well, I know plenty of 2K enthusiasts would love these additions.

I'm not really one for any teams past 1999 - I stopped watching the NBA when MJ retired. (Aside from the Washington years.)

More squads from the 80's and 90's would be fantastic.

I always liked the idea of having a greatest playoffs mode - 2k would give you a selection of some of the greatest playoff brackets in history and let you play them out with your chosen team, to either re-enact history, or change it.

Hell, I'd love to take my Suns and let them get their revenge against Houston in 1995. (Damn kiss of Death......)

                            2001 Lakers
                            Shaquille O’Neal (’98 Lakers, ’95 Magic)
                            Kobe Bryant
                            Derek Fisher
                            Robert Horry (’94 Rockets)
                            Ron Harper (’96 Bulls)
                            Brian Shaw (’95 Magic)
                            Greg Foster ('98 Jazz)
                            Horace Grant ('95 Magic)

Only need: Tyronn Lue (current assistant coach, so his rights potentially owned by NBA?), Mark. Madden and Devean George (shouldn't be too hard to acquire) and Rick Fox.

Would be an ideal team for 2K15. Can play against the 76ers (finals rematch) and it was potentially the best playoff team ever!! 16-1!

                            Thanks.

                                Thanks.
If dev team add Yao and T-mac to MyTeam mode, which makes my dream come true. Kobe&Shaq vs T-Mac&Yao
