Very nice, thanks for the video. You tricked me with those shoes. I think he wore those early on in the 1991-92 season, until the 7's were released.

Also, I think he should have the RED forearm band, as that's what he wore back then (and switched to the black ELBOW band in the middle of the playoffs for some reason...).

      Love watching these videos!
      My Specs:

      ZX Spectrum
      CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
      GPU: Monochrome display
      RAM: 48 KB
      OS: Sinclair BASIC

        You're welcome my friend.

And yeah, he did wear them during the first half of the 91/92 season I believe.

Thanks for the elbow band tip!

          Oh man.

Did I pick the wrong team to have a bad game against.

I figured this video tied in with our 'MJ/legends' related thread here, so here it is, The 87 Lakers absolutely DESTROYING me.

I literally could do NOTHING to stop Magic. KAJ didn't even need the ball in his hands much in this one, Magic decimated me. Even whilst I was using the Bad Boys.

I honestly had to sit back and take a beat after this game. My head was spinning.

Re: Will MJ actually look like MJ this year?

Well for me personally,I can't play vs the computer so I worked my way up online and have been giving all these teams a test try.

First, I will say the Bulls and teams during this era surprisingly play the best and most true to self of the legends. That may be due to the game favoring defense and inside play, but I felt they were way more authentic. I played about 7 games straight with the Bulls just to try em out and it honestly was so much fun.. Not just because they were good, but I really felt like I was using each player as their old selves. And when you need it, mixing things up with Jordan is insanely fun. His baseline fade was rewarding and pretty authentic. Some moments are just spot on.. I was killing this guy with MJ on the post timing a lot of strategic variety of fades (this was older MJ) and he started doubling my strong side so I spun weak side/baseline, but had a center helping a bit so I couldn't just dunk it so I ended up finishing one of his signature reverse layups.. It just looked perfect for the moment. They do, however, sprint their butts off a little too quickly on the break, I could easily fast break cherry pick all game if I wanted to..I love hitting smart jumpers with these guys though just like the 90s when they'd step into them a bit more. Kerr and Paxson in the 4th saving me with kickout 3s is gold as well.

I expected this sort of enjoyment out of the newer retro teams but believe it or not, not sure how, but they all, from 2000 up play incredibly GENERIC. So generic I was almost depressed I can't even enjoy my favorite teams in the game ( retro 2000s Raptors, Mavs, Suns, Celtics, Pistons, Timberwolves, Sixers, Rockets, Lakers). They all had so many errors, so many ugly models or signatures (lack there of). Worst of all is the ROTATIONS. They were so off, if on rotation you'd never see your star in the second quarter, which was not the case in 2000. The movements of these guys..I'd have Antonio Davis constantly camping outside the 3.. I'd have my main pick setter automatically put as Marion instead of STAT for the Suns.. Shaq plays no different than a Zach Randolph. Forget the 01 Lakers, they don't even run the triangle right and just run around aimlessly. No authentic size ups, no authentic fades or dunks. The authenticity is just not there. These types of things were important in the early 2000s. These teams are just a gimmick right now.

I feel you on the new classic teams - they were TOTALLY forced into the game as fan service yet have had hardly any work done to them - having been editing my roster, I've dug deep into these teams, and can tell you, the signature section for some of these guys is SHOCKING.

I mentioned this example a couple of days ago, but players like Spree have been given Generic BIG MAN move sets instead of SG/SF signature moves - next to none of the legends have any size up moves or layup packages - I've worked tirelessly for a couple of weeks now trying to sort this all out - 2k just threw any old thing in there it would seem, and hoped for the best.

Hell, I had 2001 Shaq doing fadeaways recently - had to go in and change his tendencies.

2k, as great as they were to give us all these new teams, definitely dropped the ball when it came to giving them a signature touch.

100% agree, doubt they will change anything until these final guys retire or a lockout..

The Shaq fades were driving me nuts as well, never did he ever shoot fades, he had a right handed push shot he went to instead. He also is weightless on his dunks..

He hasn't seemed to do the fades at all when using the 98 Lakers. Just the 01 team.

I've just adjusted his dunk package and given him pretty much all the rim pull two handers. Seems to do the trick.

i have a different view on this. i'ved played mostly okc and classic 90'a bulls against the current nba teams (cpu). for classic bulls, i took out rose and gang and replaced with jordan's squad.

i would say i enjoyed playing okc much more than the bulls. for both teams, i played the triangle offense. the bulls players are just too slow. pippen didnt play like pippen at the post at all (his 3s are ok). kukoc and kerr shooting form are off (i actually edited it) and they are really slow. rodman is too small for rebounding and i cannot get double digit rebounding with him consistently every game. the only man i enjoyed playing the most is MJ. his turnaround fadeaway, i got 7 consecutive green jumpers (on superstar simulation sliders).

for okc, westbrooks and durant are just awesome. i mixed it up with some pnr plays as they move faster. i am able to get rebounds with westbrooks much easier than using rodman, jus comparing.

i havent tried out the 01 lakers yet. when playing against them, i did see some triangle in their plays. nevertheless, i'll check them out after the second patch release.

I think that's standard for most of the classic teams - seems because they're from yesteryear, 2k have made the players from that era to be slower and less athletic, which is total crap. I tried to go coast to coast with Kemp a few days ago, was like running in mud. The guy was an athletic beast and could cover the floor, end to end, in no time at all.

Same as players like Tim Hardaway etc - they should be lightning quick yet compare them to D.Rose or RW and they feel like they're playing in slow motion, which isn't right.

Just tinker with the attributes, that should help.

I haven't touched a single current team so far, and most likely won't, either.

Yes you can definitely feel his 'edge' more in his look. Less generic than now forsure.

Shadio what do you think of retro Vince?

Some of the expressions/sig style you get from MJ this year is amazing....which is why I actually prefer '16 all things considered
