Can someone explain the strategy behind basketball substitutions? How many minutes to give the bench? Which type of players I want on the bench?

I am really struggling in MyTeam. Really struggling. I have a few silvers and the rest bronze. I haven't been able to win a single game yet. Not domination. Not Challenge. Nothing. I'm running out of contracts too, which sucks.

There were a few things that cropped up that I wanted to ask though other than my general cry for help.

First, despite having play calling set to manual, my team is constantly switching defenses. I want to play 3-2 zone. It seems to be the only thing we can do (I get murdered on the inside by people being out of position in the 2-3, and I can't match up man to man effectively). But people are just out of position, across the court, suddenly going back to man to man. It's driving me insane. How can I fix this?

Also, any suggestions for how to make my offense more effective. I understand the pick and roll game okay, but my team has trouble moving without the ball and I'm not good at creating my own shots either.

Just really frustrated with the mode right now. I improved my line up and lost way worse to the Sixers because my defenders were on the wrong side of the court and they kept getting open 3s. Frustrating as hell.

edit: also, the game locked up once and I lost a contract for every single one of my players and didn't get MT points for it. Boo.

Thanks for perimeter defense tips! I too was getting whipped guarding anyone really. Just blow by after blow by. Feathering is helping and honestly I think I am having a muscle memory problem controlling the right stick for cut offs when also using the left stick and left trigger. Something I am going to work on, but still a bit difficult and this is on pro, ha ha.

Anyone knows how to put your hands up while running towards the offensive player if he already went up for the shot? Everytime i hold R2 and right defense my player just keeps his hands to the side of his body.

Try holding the RS towards the shooter

I just don't get it and I don't think I ever will. My question is, how the hell are people in MyCareer scoring at will and dribbling like AI in the High School and College level. I can't buy myself an open look basket. I just don't get it. I've played MyCareer 5 times already and I still can't seem to score more than 10 points. I have the most perfect wide open shot and yet I can't find a basket. I try to dribble off my man and end up getting stripped or lose the handle. This doesn't make sense and I still don't get it. Someone explain to me what the trick is for 2016 because my blood pressure is rising and I've never been so frustrated with a 2K game before until now.

That one usually works for me. But playing as the current NYK, Posting up Robin Lopez isn't a go to play haha. Usually I have to be patient. If Melo ends up in the corner my guard on the wing will down screen him to curl then cut baseline. You just have to burn a lot of clock to set it up.

Pg/SG and SF/PF are supposed to be interchangeable in the triangle but it seems like any player is interchangeable in 2k's triangle system. No disrespect to Czar, these offenses do some amazing things it's really incredible this year. I'm just hoping he or someone else can enlighten me to what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to lab it a bit but if someone's already got it figured out that would be amazing if they could shed some light on the subject.


I don't like when my most effective plays are iso's and post ups but this game is tough. These Pg's are animals fighting over these screens. OG needs to chill lol. I can't run a pick and roll without every defender playing like Gary Payton 😂

The Triangle is giving me fits this year too. The "X" icon appearing over players is really throwing me off (this is with playart on full) & I can't ever seem to run anything to completion other than a PnR b/c I have no idea what to do. Things take way too long to develop & I'm stuck either holding the ball or passing it right before I should. Mad frustrating.......

I run man to man D....try to switch on to a big as the shot goes up to grab the rebound

you won't get credit for cpu rebounds or steals....so always switch on to them before they grab it

I try to get out on the break and get dunks

in the half court, cheese PnR for dunks/mid range jumpers basically all game

I've breezed through the first 7 or so domination games no problem....I consistently get in between 700-850

I'm dreading some of the later games though....gonna be hard to get the required points to 3 star the Warriors and All-Star teams without playing damn near perfect

Question:

Are tear drops the only guaranteed way to keep yourself from getting stripped or are there other effective moves?

I feel like spin layups for example are good but have a tendency to get stripped.

Try holding the RS towards the shooter

I've tried that numerous times using both options for right stick defense camera relative and absolute and usually get nothing. There are times i can make it to the shooter for the close out but my guy continue running pass the shooter and the cpu makes the shot. I'm guessing the shot quality stays above a B for the cpu shooting because my hands arent up; when the cpu does it to me with hands up my shot quality goes to C- and below.

Has anyone found any good settings, whether stamina/fatigue or any others, that have the cpu opponent showing realistic rotations? Tired of seeing guys like steph curry getting subbed out with 5 minutes left in the first, and then as a result they're not ever on the court at the end of the first half
