Many players pass to the corners, pump fake and attempt to drive baseline. This where I run into a lot of glitchy dunks and blow bys. The baseline keeps the offensive player in through a shield but the defender has no such protection. Example: you've cut the opponent off the drive but you get a bump animation sending you out of bounds and the game registers the offensive player as open for a dunk or an and one layup on the help. Either make it that the defender gets the invisible shield keeping them inbound as well or nerf baseline play and make it so that both defense and offense are susceptible to going out of bounds.

I think the fact that the game is "in" so to speak has a lot to do with some of the flaws being swept under the rug. No one wants to lose access to 2k, those who receive the game early or are invited to special events. They'll never expose the real flaws of the game as it would bite the hand that feeds them and potentially jeopardize their connections and special treatment. Journalists are also reluctant to bash fan favorite games because of the outlash it would create from their die hard fans. That and advertising revenue they receive from such games plays a factor as well.

Look at how long it took for Madden to start receiving bad reviews. The game was abysmal for a long while yet still pulling 8-9/10 scores and still had a devoted following. Why, when the game is so bad?

In general it's just not "cool" to go against something that's trendy and hardcore followers are going to be more lenient.

That being said, I'm extremely critical when it comes to sports games. Extremely, and I still find 2k16 fun. I definitely don't think it's their most realistic title to date, but it's still good.

Oh yeah that has been a legacy issue for years. I could let all that slide as no game can be perfect but that "always a fastbreak in transition" logic this year has just made all other things harder to take being that you are almost always at a disadvantage on transition. Also if you are on defense you stand there guarding the baseline outside of paint and they do go out of bounds they call blocking foul even though you had position. But non blocking players blocking shots and blocking fouls that should be a charge is a whole other issue that I can deal with if they just fix transition defense .

It is fun but it ain't sim enough for me to start myleague or any serious sim modes as i invest months into those with 82 games 9-10 minute qtrs. So I just play "play now" modes. Might do pro am until it is hopefully cleaned up.

Now that Patch 3 has dropped for 2/3 platforms, I think it's a good time to revisit this. How does everybody with the patch feel about transition D and rotations now?

I've only played a few games with my MyLeague save from before the patch, but I'm not really noticing much of a difference. I'm able to fast break at will (by making quick, reasonable outlet passes, and without turning up the POE) and I'm still seeing a lot of 3 second calls.

I am on Xbox one but once the patch comes out you best believe I will back on here with my review. I haven't played 2K in weeks because I am mainly an offline guy and having something that is literally about 50% of a game not work a majority of time is disheartening as I have never not enjoyed 2k until this year even with pass version that had issues that I could deal with and over look. But winning or losing a game based on something I didn't earn or deserve defeat the purpose of me grinding a 82 game 10 minute quarters that I play with no simming games. So hopefully it is at least cleaned up a bit otherwise I will play it casually with play now or NBA today

You'll definitely see the improvement vs. the AI, but the removal of contact opened up some other issues HUM vs HUM...but that's another thread...

No that video and the video I showed you are completely different. In real life do players sink toward the paint on the weakside, absolutely. But the real life video shows Westbrook helping on the roll man to the basket which is normal to protect the rim first. In my video the defender just goes into the paint under the rim for no reason there was no defensive breakdown via pick and roll or on-ball blow by. I am confident you won't find a real life scenario that matches that video but I wouldn't have a problem if once in a while a see glitches as it is a video game but transition defense along with "man crush" on ball handler with the pick and roll glitch is just too many bugs for me.

Defensive AI is the worst it's ever been.

The being out of position, the transition idiocy, the slow reactions, and worst of all the random hard fouls to bail out any drive.

2k apologists can't even defend this

u r right. took a closer look the ball swing to the wing and the weak side defender dash towards the paint. hope 2k can fix this. seem like the "what if" coding got messed up in the engine that attract this unnecessary help.

Yeah. The new engine OG talked about has a few quirk and one being defensive player confusion and off ball defender "man crush" with ball handler even when they are on the strong side which causes easy cut to the basket. Man don't yall get me back started on this lol. Yall don't understand Nba 2K is all I wait for year after year and to not be playing a game that is one fix from greatness makes it worst. But 24 said the ai is better offline so that is all I need to get back in. We shall see ...

i've tested one game with defensive awareness bumped to 100 from simulation sliders. i'm saw one instance my centre sagging under and behind the basket and it gave the cpu opponent the opportunity to score and1 under the basket. will continue to monitor it.
