    Re: Player Archetypes NBA 2k17

My real issue with Lockdown Defender is how there is no differentiation between a big LD and a guard LD, outside of a couple badges. This is especially apparent in their offensive stat caps. A LD big will be ok on offense with an ok post scoring cap of 12 and a low cap of 7 in 3pt. A guard LD has the same cap of 12 for post scoring and 7 for 3pt. Why? Post scoring will not help most guards. Swapping the caps for 3pt and post scoring for a guard LD would make them ok on offense and allow people that wanted a 3 and D guard to do so.

The epitome of balance would mean that just like a defender that is lacking ways to make up for lack of offensive stats. You would have a tough time locking down players - as things like lateral quickness - on ball d - etc would influence your success on the defensive end in the form of limitations. So NO - we cannot assume that just because you know how to play defense - you will easily be able to. Again the epitome of balance would take into account all limitations. Not just offensive ones. Lets hope the lockdown defender build reflects this. The one who will completely outshine weaker defensive builds - just like he is outshined by offensive oriented builds.
I wish it was like that, too. I also wish max height wouldnt be so OP every year. I just dont believe it until I see it. Every year 2k is promising a lot about "cutting the cheese" but very little ever happens. Its great that the dribbling system has been changed. People might actually have to play team ball at the park / stage.

Yea they got pretty lazy with that. Infact i find it funny. What's the point of having a stat cap of 5/25 or something? Just give me 0 and add those 5 to somewhere else like layup which is a basic fundamental. Honestly very stupid.

Lol yeah some of that stuff was spot on tho bro. Like it's gonna be an offense fest because ppl will find a way to get the best offensive player. On top of the youtube guys and the streamers who will make guides on the best builds. Unless you can REALLY lockdown players as a defender with no sliding around. But even a 74 in most defensive ratings is respectable. I can work with that lol.

Yea not only that but as they said - stamina may be big - can't just hold turbo 24/7.

Im not identifying with that at all. Im saying in the 7 years ive played myplayer online, from crew to blacktop to park to rec and pro am, little to nothing has changed. Every year height is OP as hell. People are allowed to spam unrealistic dribbling moves (which thankfully has been changed). 7'3 Centers can do the same dribble moves as Kyrie. If it changes im thankful, I just doubt it tbh

The system will never be perfect but if you play with and against the right people you can have a lot of fun.

Well Mike Wang said they are now locked out of those animations and I hear you about the 7'3 centers though. No diversity..

Honestly though a lot of BS got cut out really. Around this time in previous years I would have been sick of the cheese. In the park though people spam those hop steps shots and fake pass to retain dribble

Respectable? Um, you do realize James Harden has a higher defense rating than us, right? His defense was a 77. Outside of a Lockdown Defender, we're worse on-ball defenders than James Harden.

                            James.

                            Harden.

The fact his defense was a 77 is a joke lol should be a -77

That's just overrating Harden for the sake of giving him a higher overall. 74-79 defense is pretty respectable and should be above average. 80-85 should be for high tier defenders, 86-92 elite defenders, and 93-99 all-time great defenders. In my opinion anyway lol
