I watched some videos . Attribute wise 7'3 centers take some huge it's . I'm sure height will still be Op tho. I noticed the starting encouraged heights . For PFs it's 6'9. For centers it's 7'.

He's dropped a lot numbers for positions. I'll see if I can make a list of all the one's he's done so far.

Now, what happens to 'above average' defenders when they are matched against 'high tier' or 'elite' players?

Your 'above average' defensive stats are going to be asked to stop 'high tier' and 'elite' (all based on their archetype) offensive players. Your 'above average' rating is going to be facing off against 'high tier' and 'elite' shooter and/or slashers. And, if the video is indeed correct, every position outside of LDs/Rim Protectors and Glass Eaters are going to be 'above average' on defense, facing off against 'high tier' and 'elite' shooter (off the dribble and/or sharpshooters) and slashers.

See where I'm going with this?

Personally I think I'm going to make a three and D shooting guard or small forward, abut 6'8" 205 for my first player. Lock down defender and great athlete, eventually getting a respectable jumper.

Then I want to make my stretch 4, about 6'10" 235. Can put the ball on the floor, shoot the lights out, and still be able to grab some boards and do an adequate job defensively.

Problem is, you CAN'T make a 3 and D character. If he can shoot, he can't defend. And if you try to shoot with a Lockdown Defender, good luck. You'll be bricking a lot of those open shots.

I haven't even looked at the attribute caps yet.

Every year height is OP as hell. People are allowed to spam unrealistic dribbling moves (which thankfully has been changed). 7'3 Centers can do the same dribble moves as Kyrie. If it changes im thankful, I just doubt it tbh
Well in the parts that i used sarcasm (most of it - but some more than others). I was basically acting like a guy who has no hopes for improvement and just 100% believes nothing will change. I realize it may not be like that since i don't know you personally - but the first impressions from some of your comments lead me to believe you have that type of mentality that i referenced. I realize it may come from a place of being dissapointed every year. But come on man like in some of the posts i read it seemed that you no doubt believe that nothing will change despite the increased amount of alleged improvements mentioned by reliable guys like mike wang etc - height balance supposedly is improved - rebounding - defense might finally be equal in value to offense oriented builds and there might be balance between the value of limitations for each - specific stats will matter more than previous years - not everyone has the same badges - dribbling is improved - stamina. Like i get that getting your hopes up is often dangerous emotionally when it comes to video games. But you killing my positive hyped vibes man!!. I personally banish my eyes from reading further comments from such a source. Such exposure is dangerous to hype meters..

Lockdown defenders are gonna get lucky to get low 60s 3pt ratings. and sharpshooters are going to be slow and have low 70s d ratings.

You can make a 3 and D player. Stop telling guys they can't.

Yea one of the 2k guys answered this - he said you can be an elite shooter and >efficient< defender. In other words he basically is saying you won't be a lockdown defender - as you shouldn't be IMO. But you can indeed be efficient with things like badges and obviously IQ. The thing is if you want to justify a 3 and lockdown guy. Than we lockdown guys should have more offensive stats. As you don't seem to be getting that we have little to no offense. And yet you are asking for more of the one thing we truly excel at. There has to be a balance people.

74 midrange for a 6'10 Athletic PF. Not too shabby

I feel like Lockdown defenders would have gotten higher 3 point ratings, maybe an overall balanced offensive skill set. Pretty much average at everything.

sure you can. if you want to be great from 3 and below average on D or you can be great on D and abysmal behind the line.
