The most glaring issue this year is that every single player who had body type 3 last year (which isn't too bad looking) now has body type 7. The "High School" body type, or as I call it, the Kerri Walsh Jennings body type. This includes the players the OP listed:

    -Giannis Antetekounmpo
    -Seth Curry
    -Dennis Schroder
    -Ian Clark

    As well as

    -Kevin Durant
    -Steph Curry
    -Mike Dunleavy Jr
    -Brandon Jennings
    -Andrew Wiggins
    -Rudy Gobert
    -Jeremy Lin
    -Evan Fournier
    -Chris Bosh
    -Terrence Ross

And many others including rookie Brandon Ingram.

Zach LaVine of all people does not have this body type because he has bodytype 1, and therefor was not part of the mass copy and paste of body type 3 to 7.

This is a major eye sore as no NBA player, EVEN Ingram, is this skinny. Hence, why it was the High School body type last year.
Why was the Steph Curry body build removed, when it fits many, many guards and is one of the better average builds?

And the cut and paste job to replace his body type with the one shot High School body type from last year-- rendering the last three MVPs high-schoolers with no muscle definition...

I mean if you could make one simple change to negatively impact the appearance of the most players including two of the faces of the league on possibly one of the best lineups of all time, "Replace an average, widely used body with that high school sock monkey body we're not using" would probably be it. It would be near the top of my list of "things not to do to make the game look worse than last year". Honestly, it almost feels like a troll job.

I've never been quite this vocally critical of 2K's art effort. Usually they do great work. Sometimes they take steps back when going in a new direction. We understand that can happen. I don't mean to yell, but with an ENTIRE year to improve on the character art-- HOW IS THIS REMOTELY ACCEPTABLE?

How is this possibly okay in a game of 2K's caliber, with 2K's resources and revenue? And how did this actually manage to pass the art direction? Was this a mistake?

The only thing that makes sense is that they will sell it as new feature next year

I really hate how 2k's art team goes to extremes....someone mentioned this in another thread that they could be a spiteful lot. That skinny body type could actually work for certain players.....unfortunately they forget that some skinny guys have muscles to....

I'm tellin you guys next year we're going to have all the guards looking like CP3.

Saying "it's our fault" is lame on so many levels smh. Come on! These guys are paid professionals that do this for a living. 2K basketball is one of the top selling games every year so they have plenty of resources to get this stuff right. I mean how hard is it for them to do comparison pics & realize most of the player models are off? Why is it that Dwight Howard's hair hasn't been updated in 2 years? Guess that's our fault too right? We're not asking for perfection but some of the models are so off it leaves you scratching your head especially when they changed some that didn't need to be changed. Let's quit making excuses for these devs. As technology continues to advance, these errors are becoming more egregious.

At this point on if someone came up and told me NBA Live infiltrated 2k's art team and tried to self sabotage their work I would believe you because that's how poor of a job they did this year.

2k17 and next gen shouldn't even be said in the same sentence. Player models, caps, courts, jersey, my park court, hairstyle, sneakers all looks bad.

It's quite simple. Don't focus on "too skinny" or "too thick" and just make the people look like themselves. Body scanning was advertised as if it would resolve this issue once and for all; 2K17 models are a step backwards in this regard. Capturing the physique of an NBA athlete has for some strange reason evaded the 2K art team for as long as I can remember.

Human proportion is so fundamental for an artist that I am amazed that this is still the conversation 3 years into Next-Gen. Between this and an odd inability to get colors and other details correct on courts/uniforms, etc. it's really mind boggling. And it is a 2K problem; their sometimes competitor NBA Live was pretty good about these details if nothing else.

Jeez man why is everyone so upset with how the game looks? That picture of Giannis seems to be appropriately skinny. His muscles aren't defined as that picture but the size differences are making for SO much better spacing. Also, I'm not sure who said it but someone said the courts and the backboards look awful? I would love to know how someone could think that.

His traps were still too big, but it was much better than this year. He also had a shorter neck like in real life, tho that probably has to do with the traps.

So happy to see the shine removed from the hair styles in game! I am assuming this will translate to the final game on the 16th!
