Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread

Running a Heat franchise and looking to move whiteside. What are some realistic landing spots for him in a trade? The teams I have in mind are Lakers (as a guy to add before chasing Paul George), Suns, Bucks, Bulls, Grizzlies, Spurs

The only trade I've considered doing is Whiteside and #14 to Lakers for #2 and Mozgov. Thoughts on this?

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread

      Sup peeps,

Finally, 2k fixed the contract glitch in MyLeague, I started a Start Today with the Knicks.

      Trades:
First move, moving Carmelo Anthony. I brought his Intangibles rating up to mid 80's, this brought his overall up to 88 - thus bringing his trade value up. I had to turn his NTC off because he will turn down the trade no matter what.

There are realistically only 3 teams that would trade for him - The Clippers, Celtics and Cavs, and those are the only 3 teams I received offers from in trade finder.

Celtics - offered Avery Bradley & Jaylen Brown
Clippers - offered DeAndre Jordan & Austin Rivers
Cavs - offered Kevin Love & Richard Jefferson

After debating between all the offers, I felt that the Cavs offer would be most beneficial to both teams with the Cavs offering me a better deal for what I planned. (More on that later)

I adjusted the deal to make it sweeter for both teams.

      Knicks get: Kevin Love (87)
      Iman Shumpert (72)
      Cavs 2018 First Round

      Cavs get: Carmelo Anthony (88)
      Courtney Lee (78)
      Mindaugas Kuzminskas (73)

Cavs get an upgrade at both the PF and SG positions to make another title run and I get Kevin Love as trade bait and an extra 1st rounder for next year. I like Willy Henangomez way too much to replace him with Love, I want to develop him and have him play side to side with Porzingis for a long time.

After the trade, I flipped Kevin Love (would have loved to do a 3 way but for some reason Cavs decline it no matter what) for Khris Middleton (he has the stats spread for my ideal SF).

The Bucks get an upgrade to Greg Monroe (made sure he went to FA for sake of fairness) and Malcolm Brogdon takes over at the 2. I move Khris Middleton as my starting 3.

I feel that Lakers trade is too steep for Whiteside -- the dude's a double-double machine, but only in the 10-10, 15-15 range; he's more a defensive stud than a force on both ends and doesn't move the needle for LA.

Add in the fact that the Lakers lucked into that #2 overall pick and don't have their 1st rounder next year, and the 2017 draft is so stacked that -- at #2 -- they could likely get a player that develops into an even more high-impact player than Whiteside is now before that rookie's contract runs out, and it's a no-go for me.

I like the idea in theory -- LA wants to prove to George that they're ready to compete and wants to give him help -- but that's a straight steal for the Heat. Mosgov's contract is bad, don't get me wrong, but the Lakers could ship him off to someone else for something else.

Out of the teams you've listed as potential trade destinations, I think only the Bulls/Bucks would make a move for Whiteside. The Bulls, of course, are mismanaged and do dumb things in the offseason (see, Rajon Rondo) and the Bucks are close to making the leap into a top-4 team out East.

I think Milwaukee would really like Whiteside -- his length and defensive presence helps them. The problem, though, is that their roster is so stacked with bigs already. Miles Plumlee, John Henson, Monroe, and Thon Maker -- you'd have to take one of those back for Whiteside, probably this year's draft pick to even it out, and maybe toss in a shooter for the Bucks.

That's a pretty underwhelming trade in my mind and I feel Whiteside is at least worth a lottery pick to the right team who had an unfortunate year this season but wants to bounce back immediately to get to the playoffs.

Going by that criteria, I nominate either the Hornets or the T'Wolves as they teams you should look at. The Wolves, in particular, could use Whiteside at the five and his defense (Thibs loves defense) and shift Towns over to the four, a more natural spot for his talents. The Wolves don't need more young talent and more players to develop -- they need to cash in on a guy.

Whiteside can be that guy. Thibs might prefer Jimmy Butler, but the Bulls value him too much to trade him straight up for Lavine+their lottery pick. Picking at 7th overall, I think you could swing Whiteside for that lottery pick+contract filler (any interest in Rubio?) and maybe a youngish third stringer from the Wolves bench.

That would give you a 2nd lottery pick, one in the top 10, and position you for another move if you wanted it.

        My thoughts.
        Any comments are welcome.

I like the Wolves idea. Do you think this would work?

          Wolves get:
          Whiteside
          Tyler Johnson

          Heat get:
          #7
Rubio (not a fan but I know they've been rumored to move him)
          Pekovic or Bjelica

I know Johnsons contract is ugly the last 2 years, so if I had to throw in #14 to make it fair I'm ok with that.

Johnson's contract is ugly, I would throw in #14 to even it out and call that game. Whiteside helps a ton, Johnson is a decent combo guard off the bench and the Wolves aren't completely removed from a stacked lottery with that #14 pick.

I'd bring back Pekovic since you're losing a big man, just to fill the gap -- he'll be cap relief sooner than later anyway if I remember his contract right.

                  Hi guys
I'm giving 30-team control a go for the first time ever and i'm still struggling to make decisions for all the teams.

Trail Blazers are currently second in the west with just one W more than Spurs. Ezeli, Davis, and Leonard are all injured and they're stuck with nobody but Vonleh and Nurkic at 4 and 5 for the next couple of weeks. Hornets are the bottom seed in the east and it may be a great for them to ship off Marvin Williams and get a first round pick for 2017 or 2018 draft. So i'm thinking:

Hornets trade: Marvin Williams, 17 2nd round pick (both to Trail Blazers)
Trail Blazers trade: Al-Farouq Aminu/Maurice Harkless, Shabbaz Nappier
Hornets then sign Louis Scola on a minimum contract until the end of the season. (They could play Kaminsky at 4 and use Scola as backup)

Now I need a third team that would take Aminu/Harkless and Nappier for a first rounder. Is there a team with enough cap space that would be willing to go for a deal like this? And does this deal seem OK for all the parties?

Are you going for realism, or for "these overalls are similar"? What roster do you have and so on...Realism its an awful trade for the Trail Blazers in my opinion, especially if its Harkless to Charlotte, and its just a why trade for the Hornets if its Aminu...Aminu has the least expensive contract and yet possibly the worst contract of the 3, and is easily the worst player of the 3, but value wise he might be even with Williams considering age and Williams regression this year...Either way he doesn't help the hornets who are in a "lets be competitive with really no ability to win a championship mode" unless its harkless, and by then its just an awful trade for the Trail Blazers.

Either way I don't see the Trail Blazers making this trade for one simple reason...Williams is expensive, and they are already getting pretty deep into the salary luxury tax.

I keep seeing this show up in trade finder results, is it just a broken mechanic, or am i overlooking something simple in the trade design?

                        Team 1
2017 1st round pick (Team 1), swap worst with (Team 2)

                        Team 2
2017 1st round pick (Team 2), swap best with (Team 1)
                        2017 1st round pick (Team 2), Top 5 protected

Team 2 doesn't have 2 1st round picks, its the same pick.

If Team 1 has the worst record (better pick), the teams swap.

If Team 1 has the better record (worst pick), Team 1 keeps their pick, and Team 2 keeps their pick if it falls inside the top 5, otherwise Team 1 gets the pick for free...?

Guys an idea pop up while looking at the rosters of each team,

Bulls Trade: Robin Lopez, Nikola Mirotic (S&T) + Jerian Grant
Kings Trade: Willie Cauley-Stein + Future First Round Pick!

at the moment, only Harry Giles is their PF, this trade gives them a Starting PF, WCS Replacement and a Back up to Fox!

While us Bulls get younger with a new starting center in WCS and a first!

                          What ya think?

Robin Lopez and Jerian Grant aren't worth WCS alone imo, let alone with a first rounder attached to him.

I started a new MyLeague ETP's 2017-2018 rosters and I decided to do an expansion draft and bring back the Kentucky Colonels. About 30 games in and now I'm getting an itch to make some moves. This trade in particular is something I'm really thinking about.

                            Cleveland gets:
                            Dwyane Wade
                            Robin Lopez

                            Chicago gets:
                            Iman Shumpert
                            Kay Felder
                            Shawn Long

2019 second rounder (Minnesota via Cleveland)
                            2018 Secound Rounder (Kentucky)

                            Kentucky gets:
                            JR Smith
                            Channing Frye
                            Paul Zipser
                            2018 First rounder (Cleveland)

Why Cleveland would do it: Easy decision for them. They bring in Wade to put alongside best friend Lebron once again. Wade has seen much better days but you can stilll count on to average 15-5 in this stacked lineup. Expiring deal so you aren't committed long term if it doesn't work out. Robin Lopez will make 14 million annually the next two seasons but he is still a productive big and a true center that Cleveland currently lacks.

Why Chicago would do it: Currently in tanking mode and have no need for Wade. Able to shed Lopez's contract without having to give up anything. Shumpert's contract isn't ideal but he is much cheaper than Wade and Lopez. Kay Felder showed some flash last year with Cleveland when given the rare opportunity. Shawn Long has potential to be serviceable bench piece, played well with Colonels, Ian Clark is a slight upgrade over Paul Zipser. 2018 second rounder will more than likely be high enough to snag a decent prospect. All for a 35 year old they almost bought out and an overpaid center.

Why Kentucky would do it: Have nearly 70 million in cap, so plenty of room to absorb contracts. JR Smith is one of my favorite players and I've always been killer with him in 2k so the fit is there, would be an upgrade over Jordan Crawford who is currently my 2 guard. Channing Frye I'll probably shop at deadline and see if I can get a late second rounder for. 2018 first rounder has 99% chance of being on *** of the 20s but who knows, Lebron could leave again and they'll be left with Kyrie and Love, if I'm lucky it falls late 10s early 20s.

Let me know what you think. I think it's pretty fair for all sides

I started a new MyLeague ETP's 2017-2018 rosters and I decided to do an expansion draft and bring back the Kentucky Colonels. About 30 games in and now I'm getting an itch to make some moves. This trade in particular is something I'm really thinking about.

                              Cleveland gets:
                              Dwyane Wade
                              Robin Lopez

                              Chicago gets:
                              Iman Shumpert
                              Kay Felder
                              Shawn Long

what if i remove the first round pick and add 1 2nd round pick, remember they getting Niko in a Sign & Trade and they have a replacement for WCS already in the team plus Lopez who can now help them with Hill Joining them!

As for your trades, i like it! Bulls getting anything for Wade is a plus! lol

I personally just don't think they'd want to take on Lopez's contract. Niko is nice but they have the cap to sign him themselves so they don't need to do a sign and trade. Jerian Grant at best for them is a backup, since they did just draft De'Aaron Fox.

Willie Cauley-Stein making 3M>Lopez making 14M. I think a much more fair offer would be Payne+Lauvergne+maybe a second rounder.
