Hey Trekfan, nice to see you! Big fan of yours, keep up the good work on your St. Louis dynasty

I just started it, used the Start Today option to sim to the off-season. Everyone is healthy. I'm trying to get a "whale" as Riley calls them, a superstar I can build this team around long term. Dion Waiters sure isn't that guy, and people like Hayward, Melo and Millsap are far too old. I want to get Wiggins in a fair trade, but without totally nuking the chemistry the Heat built this last season. I really can't see the Wolves doing anything but laughing without at least Winslow and several 1sts being on the table, and I can't blame them - Wiggins is going to be a 90 overall in a few years. Your thoughts?

      Much thanks for the compliment.

As for the Wolves, I agree they'll want Winslow back for sure - I think you could remove a 1st rounder, though, simply because Winslow could develop into a really good player (he was trending that way before his injury this season) close to Wiggins' ceiling (which, by no means, is Wiggins guaranteed to hit).

I'd try something along these lines:

Heat Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Cole Aldritch
      Timberwolves Receive:
Justice Winslow, Josh Richardson, 2018 1st Round Pick

Richardson is not chopped liver -- dude is a good rotation piece and, if necessary, a solid spot-starter on the wing. Winslow is, defensively, way more advanced than Wiggins and just fits a Thibs team better (Winslow could be young Jimmy Butler if you want to make that comparison).

That 2018 pick could be high, seeing as how the Heat were looking pretty bad for most of this last season. I'd slap a top-5 protection on it (or top-3, I can't remember which it is), and call that a trade.

Wiggins is a big get and Aldrich isn't completely useless (he'll work better in Miami than Minnesota, IMO). In free agency, I'd be hunting for outside shooting to help space the floor for Wiggins -- he can get to the rim and shoot some, but he's not consistent enough (in my view) to be a night-in, night-out threat from deep every game.

I think that evens everything out -- really, Minnesota knows Wiggins is, at best, a #2 to KAT and moving him for Winslow would be beneficial, as Winslow has proven he can handle being any role, and is defensively more accomplished/natural fit. Playing him against the wings of the West is much more palatable than sticking Wiggins on the likes of Durant (who'll fry him without issue). Winslow will be a much more difficult defender to beat for those types of players. Plus, Winslow could move up a spot as a four and stretch out the floor, that's versatility that Wiggins lacks at this point.

I also like the plot of having Wiggins on the Heat (a former LeBron team), facing the guy who got him traded in the first place on the Cavs and attempting to better LeBron's legacy in South Beach. Wiggins as the main guy will be an interesting experiment; Spolestra would be a good coach for him I feel.
      Any comments are welcome.

Thanks for your input! I think you're forgetting, however, that I'm moving forward with a healthy Bosh. That 2018 Heat pick is more likely going to be anywhere from the high teens to mid twenties. Perhaps go in the middle and package two first rounders, a 2018 and a 2020?

As for the starting 2 spot, that's a bit tricky. I'm planning on signing Wade (Butler will be traded to the C's) to a 3 year, 24 million deal, but since I'll be keeping Dragic, and given the fact that he's 35 with bum knees, I don't want him playing starter minutes. I have TJ, he's not the best shooter, but I already have Bosh and Dragic to help space the floor. His contract is pretty trash but Dion is going to be commanding around 18 million himself, so I'm thinking I might just try him and if he doesn't work out, trade him in the 2018 offseason.

If you're moving forward with a healthy Bosh, then two 1st rounders aren't bad -- but it really does leave you with no picks for the next four years or so (assuming you started with real picks traded and not everyone owning their own picks). From a talent standpoint, that would leave you in a tough spot in the future, as you wouldn't have access to cheap rookie deals and rookie players for 2018, 2019 (Dragic trade from PHX), 2020, and 2021 (Dragic again).

You'd really have to strike gold in 2nd round to get good rookies.

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing that deal -- I'd keep Winslow and my picks -- but if you want Wiggins, tossing a 2020 1st in would work. I'd subtract Richardson, just to keep him (I like him), but Winslow +2 1sts sounds fair.

So I got the pelicans go trade me Anthony Davis with all my picks which were 4 stars I think, only won 3 games tanking! And a few picks I had from clearing house! So I restarted to not make move to have pf full and I can't get them to trade me Davis again!

I was trying to make a big 3 of Rose,Booker,Davis!!! Damnnnn

              Hmm. Then how about:

Heat Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Cole Aldritch
Timberwolves Receive: Justice Winslow, Okaro White, 2018 1st Round Pick, 2020 1st Round Pick

That would work for me. A wing for a wing, a big for a big, and picks. Go for it.

Re: NBA 2K17 Trade Discussion Thread

Hmm. After looking at the math in-game, I'm definitely stuck with TJ at the 2. Even if I drop Aldritch from the trade and trade away TJ, I only have 17 million in space, just short of what Dion is asking for. Even if I could resign Waiters, I'd rather roll with TJ and Wade for year one then trade TJ for cap space/draft picks/another SG if it doesn't work out.

Maybe throw in JRich instead of cap relief so it looks like

                  Heat Receive: Andrew Wiggins
Timberwolves Receive: Justice Winslow, Josh Richardson, Okaro White, 2020 1st Round Pick, 2020 1st Round Pick

With Wade there for three years, I won't be able to keep J Rich beyond the first year anyways. I forgot he was a FA so soon...

More than a fair trade there -- J-Rich I like a lot, hate to lose him. Is Shabazz still on the T'Wolves? Maybe take him or another (cheap) wing back to help backup Wiggins. Wade and TJ don't exactly have the size to match up with the East's dominant wing players.

You actually read my mind, my dude. The mental image of Babbit as my backup 3 was cringe-inducing. I'd have to look at Shabazz's salary but that would make me feel much better. I'd be rolling with Dragic, TJ, Wiggins, Bosh and Whiteside in my starting lineup, Mario Chalmers, Wade, Muhammad, Isaiah Hartenstein and Roy Hibbert as my second unit and Wayne Ellington, Rodney McGruder, Luke Babbit, Willie Reed and Udonis Haslem as reserves.

Babbit as the backup 3 should induce cringes 10 out 10 times. I like you're lineup -- I'm a big believer in Hartenstein and I will always be glad to see Haslem ready to be brought out of mothballs if an emergency arises.

That's a good squad on paper.

Thanks! I may do a 2k18 Dynasty with them, time willing. Long term, I want Isaiah to basically be a white Chris Bosh.
