Hey thanks again for the input in the trade. I'm close to the deadline and think I might be on to a different option to go after the #1 pick. Boston is the #7 seed in the east right now. Chicago is #11 seed but pretty much out so probably would make sense for them to go into rebuild and revisit the Butler trade. Let me know what you think of this trade:
CHI trades: Butler, Lauvergne (throw in to make the numbers work), Robin Lopez (if they're rebuilding then moving his contract would be a big plus in my opinion)
CHI gets: Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Caris LeVert, '18 lottery protected NO 1st, '19 BKN unprotected 1st, Ezeli
BOS trades: Avery, Jae, '18 BKN unprotected 1st
BOS gets: Butler
BKN trades: LeVert, Ezeli, '18 NO lottery protected 1st, '19 unprotected
BKN gets: Robin (eating the salary to sweeten the pot for CHI), BKN '18 unprotected 1st
Basically Chicago gets a boatload for Butler and gets to dump Robins contract, Boston gets their star to really compete with Cleveland, and I get the BKN pick back for a chance at the #1 pick and just hope they fall in my favor.
To me it seems more realistic to get the pick and hope the lottery works out than to go trade for the #1 pick when the top 2 guys in the draft are likely to be superstars.
