Re: New CAP system
Outside of the art devs, I don't think anyone understands the amount of work that goes into creating a new CAP system, which is what appears 2K is trying to create. To me it appears that they started over and were going to implement more customization next year.
If I recall correctly this is what they did with NBA 2K14 on PS4 and Xbox one. The difference this year being that users can't swap skintones. (Maybe I'm wrong, I'm on PC and 2K14 for us was old gen)
Being a PC modder, I have taken a crack at editing the CAP 3D models in 2K13, 2K14,2K16, and 2K17. From what I can tell the the biggest reason 2K had to change their CAP system was due to the requests to use hair that the scanned models have. I will be looking into the CAP files next week when I get the game downloaded for PC and see if there is indeed any hope for 2K18 on the CAP front.Comment

Re: New CAP system
As already said we need the sculpting back or atleast some form of it, what we are gonna get now does nothing but use a couple preset values with which roster and draft class creators like myself cant do anything with to make an even close to life realistic looking player. The way it is now everyone is gonna look the same in your myleagues, i recommend the devs sim a couple years in myleague with generated draft classes and i bet they will end up with a full roster of duplicate faces.Comment

Re: New CAP system
I prefer my version
Just add some stubble and you're good!
2. Some of the presets, especially the caucasian ones, have ridiculously wide jaws. If possible, tone it down so that we also can give narrow jaws to these presets.
3. Please make the range wider for both the skull height and width. 3-head through 5-head
4. I feel like the sliders are a bit arbitrary, in the sense that there's no logic in how the slider values correspond with, for instance the size of the chin and jaw. It would make more sense if a larger value resulted in a larger chin, mouth, brow etc. I understand that with this system, changes in slider values adjusts size in all three dimensions, but I would still like to see the sliders be more intuitive.
Overall I think the new CAP system could still be an improvement. It's fundamentally a good idea with the presets, because it will result in larger variety. Last year every preset was based off the same template, so there was an issue with many players ending up resembling one another too much.
From a CAP-makers perspective, it's now way easier to share my work as well, just copy the slider values! Sure, it still needs some tweaking, but when you factor in the new hairstyles and possibly more body types, I'm still optimistic about the situation.Comment

Re: New CAP system
My biggest problem:
I see no options to edit signatures and hot zones, this is gonna be a killer for gameplay!
Is every CAP gonna have the same signatures?Last edited by gu8lal8; 09-09-2017, 07:26 AM.Comment

Re: New CAP system
- Sculpting be reintegrated
- Be able to change skin tones for all presets
- To be able to choose one of the many body types available, or have sliders with even wider ranges to alter (length, width, depth) for arms, legs, torso, chest, waist, shoulders, heads, as well as positioning and size of facial features (jaws, foreheads, eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth, ears ... tattoos would be a bonus)Last edited by ffaacc03; 09-09-2017, 07:19 AM.Comment

Re: New CAP system
I think this is one of those features that had more impact than they were expecting. It's true that there aren't a ton of guys capable of making really good CAPs, but the amount of users who actually take advantage of their work is exponential. Now if their plan all along was to take a "one step back, 3 steps forward" approach next year, then be honest and transparent about it so we can go ahead and get over it. (Or as one poster said earlier, wait to start implementing when you have the whole system upgraded.)
I am hopeful they will be able to do SOMETHING to enhance what they've done so far. We know they are getting the message. We will just have to wait and see if we can get a fix or an explanation.
