Unfortunately I've seen this happen a lot throughout the year. I play with someone who does have 3 pointers maxed out as a slashing glass cleaner (It's a 55) but he gets quite a few excellent releases...

I don't give a damn if it's a hall of fame dimer, nobody should be able to get an excellent release if your attribute is a 55

Pure Sharps kind of ruin this mode in my opinion. Ain't no NBA teams that can shoot like that.

This....people want to whine about OP bigs....but you have an archetype that can LITERALLY shoot better than the greatest shooters who EVER lived....and they do it on a consistent basis....as long as kids can create a build that shoots 3's BETTER than Steph Curry....I should be able to create a 7"3 340lb player that moves like Shaq

Depends I make 3's with my Pure Paint Protector but it's still only 25% or whatever.

I've gotten fouls just by standing near somebody doing something. I saw a big man catch the rebound on the right side of the basket, and I was right in front. Couldn't intentionally foul, block, or steal in that spot so I just stood there and let him have it. The game called a foul on me even though I didn't press steal or jump.

I'm getting real tired of passing the ball to guys and it just bounces off there chest and goes out of bounds. Happens to me once a game.

Has anybody noticed a change in shooting? Im seing alot more missed open shots, in a recent game vs a 39-8 Elite 1 team they went 3-17 FG to start the game and we weren't playing lockdown defense.

Had its flaws but I feel like team cohesion and stick skills won out more often under that system. It was balanced.

More variety in games with the way it is now though, for sure (Other than the multiple amount of squads that run 5 out).

90% of Pro Am teams run a 5-out offense with a speedboosting point guard spamming dribble moves at the top of the key simply because that is easiest strategy to consistently score with in this year's game.

There are a number of gameplay elements that 2K could tweak to prevent 5-out from being so effective in Pro Am:

                            1) Make the blowby animations much rarer and more dependent on height/weight/strength/bruiser badge instead of allowing 6'4" minimum weight playmakers/sharpshooters/shot creators to consistently blowby taller/heavier/stronger defenders.

                            2) Give the defender full control of his movement during the hip ride + snatchback combo move instead of forcing the defender into an unbreakable two-man canimation that automatically pushes him backward, regardless of controller input.

                            3) Increase the rarity of ankle breaker animations (especially during the snatchback and momentum crossover dribble moves), and when one does trigger, it should have a higher probability of being a stumble animation with a quick recovery time instead of those lengthy falldown animations where it looks like a courtside sniper pierced both of your defender's legs with 50 caliber rounds.

                            4) Stamina should drain faster and recover slower while performing right joystick dribble moves to encourage more teamwork and passing; the current system allows one person to dribble out the entire shot clock without any fear of stamina penalties.

                            5) Decrease the effectiveness of the tireless scorer badge, so that people have to be more considerate of shooting when they have no stamina left.

                            6) Every instance where a player takes his stamina meter all the way down to zero should permanently remove a small portion of his stamina bar for the remainder of the game.

                            7) The basketball needs to be more vulnerable to body/limb collisions and X button steal attempts during right joystick dribble moves. The excessive amount of ball clipping that is currently allowed just encourages bad dribbling habits and bails out reckless players by allowing them to warp through defenders without losing the ball.

                            8) Remove the pro 6 moving behind the back animation from the game, since its combination of forward acceleration, lateral movement, and ball protection make it an overpowered move.

                            9) Make people lose their ability to dribble after performing one of the escape dribble moves (these are performed by holding turbo and flicking the right joystick in any cardinal direction), and treat these animations as gather moves that must be followed by a shot, a pass, or a forced jump stop animation if no shot or pass is made after the escape dribble.

                            10) Increase the difficulty of achieving a perfect "green" release so that 20- to 30-foot jump shots aren't as reliable as they are on the current shooting sliders. Good Pro Am teams will consistently make around 70% of their field goals, which is way too high for a game that claims to be a basketball simulation.
Didn't see many statements here that I disagreed with, especially as far as the ball clipping goes. In previous years this was not an issue, however, this year every game I find myself saying "he's just going to dribble through my guy and not lose the ball?" it's quite ridiculous. A lot of the other suggestions I believe will help the eSports & simulation perception.

In all fairness, every pure archetype is better at their specific skill than anyone in history except in instances where you make your player is a position/height where the ratings/badges are nerfed for abuse reasons such as tall Point Forward.
                              • Center post scorers are better post scorers than Hakeem.
                              • Pure slashing wings are better dunkers/finishers than Vince Carter, Dr. J, Michael Jordan Jason Richardson, LeBron James, etc.
                              • Finisher Bigs are superior to Amar'e finishing in the Pick 'n' Roll.
                              • Pure Playmakers under 6'4" are equal to the maxed out ball handling and ankle breaking of Kyrie.
                              • PG Pure Playmakers are the greatest playmakers in history.
                              • Pure Shot Creators are better off the dribble mid range scorers than Jordan or Kobe.
                              • Pure wing defenders are better at defending than Pippen or Kawhi.

Mixed archetypes with good synergy are often better at their combination of skills than anyone in history... For instance:
                              • Finisher/Rebounder bigs are better at Pick 'n' Roll Posterizing with Rebounding than D12 or DeAndre
                              • Playmaker/ShotCreators are better at the combination of Dribbling, Pick 'n' Roll and Mid-Range Scoring than anyone ever... I guess Allen Iverson and Chris Paul are the closest comp, Magic Johnson is there but as previously noted this archetype doesn't scale with size.

The problem is that for all of these examples, the historically great players mentioned are better at everything else than the MyPlayers. If you input your MyCareer ratings in a roster, you'll find that even a 99 overall player is somewhere in the 80s overall. Basically, you have super power badges with the ratings of one-dimensional high-end starter. The type of player that we'd considered flawed. This means online MyPlayers with a historically unmatched skill are generally guarded by players with subpar defensive ratings or defended by an incredible defender that has very little offense.

I think the imbalance with sharpshooters is the easiest to spot simply because shooting is so intrinsic to a good offense. If you can't shoot, then you need space to maximize your output and the ability to punish help with shooting, so it's really wise to have only 1 or 2 guys at most who are any of those non-shooting archetypes if you're looking to maximize offense. Thus sharpshooters are the most abundant archetype.

In the NBA, I think the trend is if you have a defensive player that struggles to shoot and a shooter that is adequate on defense, you take the shooter. I think that trend holds true in Pro-Am, except as previously noted the non-denender you're choosing is a historically great shooter and you get as many as you need.

People want to go online and have fun. Balance probably requires that online fun have a lot less "OMG! I'm a [dribble/shooting/whatever] gawd!!!" I'm skeptical that's a deal 2K wants to make...

                              Unrelated note about ratings:

There are other weird quirks to the ratings... My personal opinion is that people doing ratings for each online mode do not communicate. There is a lot of imbalance. For instance, an average pure sharp wing has a contact dunk of 50, but in a default roster LeBron, Dominque Wilkins, MJ (not 95-96) and young Kobe have 50... Kawhi, current Westbrook have 45... And so on.

                              Unrelated random complaint:

Why can't we turn up the difficulty and have experience scale for our trouble? I'm so tired of playing games on Pro difficulty so I can have a grinded player for Pro-Am...

if pro am is supposed to be an esport why do we play under park sliders?

i read around oct/nov they assigned more difficult sliders to pro am in anticipation of esports and the community pretty much cried cause they couldnt hit every shot and dunk on everyone.

makes sense cause recently ive seen bigs stick 3's and more contested stuff go down.
