Dave why is there a hard cap just curious? As Ive described before in my CBA corrections blogs last year and the year before, a "hard cap" as used in 2k, does not exist in the CBA.

The hard cap that exists only comes into effect when a team uses an exception that they would not be able to use if they were over the luxury tax apron.

Example: If a team who is over the cap but under the luxury tax uses their non-taxpayer MLE, they are "hard capped" and not able to exceed the tax apron. This also happens when a team acquires a player via sign and trade, as taxpayers are not aloud to use S&T.

Off topic but on the note of Mid Level exceptions, they are cap holds as well. Teams must renounce them to get under the cap. Teams that use cap space only end up having the Room Exception and do not have MLE's (nontaxpayer or taxpayer). They still have the Bi-Annual exception, as every team has this unless they are in the tax or used it the prior year.

Yeah, it's not a CBA thing, but something put it to make it a little harder to just exploit things since the team budgets don't matter as much as they do in real life. It's something that the game has had since pre-Me.

Thanks for continuing to answer ?, and keeping us informed on whats going on with this type of stuff. It may not seem like much, to some, but for those of us who are diehard basketball fans, these things are very important for our enjoyment in MyLeague and MyGM.

Can confirm that teams are no longer using G-League or 2-Way contracts after year 1. There are maybe only 5-10 call ups/send downs a year and will often be the same players over and over.

Also encountered a Rookie 2nd Team award bug where it would be given to players who logged little to no minutes. Also saw a player who was currently stashed make it.

I'm also seeing the restricted free agency issues people have posted. If you extend a qualifying offer to your player they still show up as unrestricted in the moratorium period.

So I just got the game, just messed around, added two expansion teams (with an expansion draft) and the teams won 51 and 46 games.

This simulation engine is so ****ed.....

Yeah, The Sim Engine randomness in-between games is definitely too random and needs to be tuned some. There are WAY WAY too many instances of terrible teams blowing out extremely good teams compared to real life. Frustrating how often i'll see a team like the hawks beat like the spurs by 30 points.

The variance from game to game 100% needs to be tuned to represent nba simulation, or at least there needs to be an option for those who like it to be more consistent with real NBA/not as random(since im sure some people don't mind the unpredictability). But me personally, I don't like seeing the jazz beating the Warriors in 5 in the finals etc, or sixers making it. Stuff like that too happens often. Part of the issue to some extent is the tendencies for players that affect simulation stats are really off in some circumstances which I've taken the time to fix in mine but even after still too much randomness from game to game.

If you actually look at the teams net ratings over really large samples(such as the season) in the 2k sim engine they're not too bad at all, issue is just the variance from game to game. For example, one season I simulated the Warriors had a net rating of 12.7, which is a better net rating than they had in their historic 73-9 season, as well as both of their 67 win seasons but they only won 56 games in the simulation.

Game to game variance def needs to be tuned, we've had 3 straight years of Cavs vs Warriors and barring injury it's almost certain to be the same again this year but too often random teams will make the finals like the Jazz, Nuggets, Hornets, Sixers etc.

Maybe team specific "hard caps" in the future? To simulate different markets and owner spending habits?

Despite whatever bugs, oversights, decisions that we do not agree with that there might be, most of us (OSers, 2K my league and editing hardcore guys) do recognize your guys effort, that you are being in constant touch with us and your guys contributions to the franchise and to our enjoyment.

Big THANK YOU to all of 2K devs and producers, specially those that work along and close with you ... take a deep breath and know you are appreciated, keep going further and further ... what usually works to me, when in those down or congested days is to try and appreciate those things that we normally take for granted: being alive, having friends around the office, eating my meal, listening to my favorite band or artist, having families to look for, etc.

Hang in there. I don't think we old heads blame you or your dev team. Though you could never comment, I expect your team is under-resourced with allocated labor hours per cycle to fully build and test what you target for yourselves, since you're maybe considered overhead higher up the chain relative to game modes that generate in game revenue.

Two issues I have come across that I don't see listed.

1) in year 4 all the top centers in the upcoming draft class were ranked as bottom tier players. Upon free agency they were all there with high ratings and undrafted bc everyone's draft percentage was 0% on them. some top 5/10 talent.

2) in single draft I picked two euros to stash in first round. One had 1 year other 2 years of stash time. Upon picking up contract of first guy (1 year later) I was told I couldn't continue to retain rights of other fellow. Too many players overseas. Odd that I was able to hold two, but now cannot hold any.

This was a new start, test after patch FYI

Mannnn, as Lorenzo and ffaacc said, us old heads at OS appreciate both you and your team's work, and especially your transparency. I can most certainly say that of all the devs/reps/producers you Dave are the most open with us as far as what exactly is being worked on, why something is or isnt included, etc. We may be QA testers during september, but to me, I appreciate the fact that we have the line of communication to find and correct these issues as well as add more to the game.

I feel the same way about Dave, out of all those who work on this game, Dave is the most opened and honest about issues within the game, and if they can or will be fixed, and just his overall communication with us. Not saying others there lie, but over the years, it was hard to get a straight answer when dealing with some of them, and obviously I know they cant spend all day on sports forums answering questions, but I appreciate that Dave comes around and is hearing and willing to talk about issues. Its been a few years back, I think it was NBA2k11, and I emailed 1 of the guys, not going to say who it was, thats not of importance, but I explained the team stat glitch issue, and teams averaging as many as 40+ free throws a game, that was ruining the Association along with other issues that made Association mode unplayable for any hard core basketball junkie who si into stats, and I never got a direct answer from him. It also wasnt long after the game came out as well, when I emailed him. All he said was Ill let a dev know. Not that I was expecting some long explanation, but I expected more than that,lol. I doubt he ever even told a dev, and there cant be anyway anyone who is a basketball junkie would have known these were major issues, so you would think the devs would not only know, but fix them. And if I remember correctly, these issues were all still broken in NBA2k12 as well. I think they got fixed in 13, but then team werent averaging enough fouls then.
The last few years, they have gotten much better with communicating with us, and while I still support them, and get the game day1, because it wasnt but a few years ago when I was fed up, and close to giving them the Madden treatment, meaning I wouldnt be buying it,lol, or atleast waiting to hear all thats wrong with the game, and with Madden, that means I havent bought Madden in I think 7yrs now,lol.

Found another to add to my list...

Upon being prompted that a players two-time contract has expired and a decision must be made. No matter which selection I choose, the game crashes and sends me to Xbox dashboard. I have saved game just before instance, and tried to address in multiple ways but still crashes. Obvious work around is to handle decision before getting prompted.
