It's funny you say that, because without badges your player really ain't that good. You could have 99 driving dunk but your player will do a layup because no Posterizer. And if he does dunk you miss because no relentless finisher.

    2k Can't make a good basketball game.

I know one thing, whoever is responsible for posting the stats and badges of every build is the GOAT. They work quick and hopefully they'll have everything done by early access that way us normal folk can plan what build we want by the time the game come out 4 days later.

Slashing Rim Protector is actually a big surprise as it has Gold Rim Protector and Gold Defensive Stopper. Big surprise. I'm definitely thinking about a Dwigth build.

With that said, why the FK would 2k change this. Are there not Great Post Scorers with Great Defense in the NBA? It doesn't make sense. I wouldn't be surprised if they were on VERY HARD drugs from all that VC money

I'll say it again, sometime I think the developers don't know what they're doing
Two way post scorer had silver defensive badges in 2k17 too.

There is clearly some kind of logic behind badges and attributes allocation, and they made some changes from last year.

E.g. slashers now are better defenders; post scorers are better passers

Edit: In 18 it was different..

Nah, 2 way post had Gold Rim Protector. I could lose out on gold defensive stopper, but Gold Rim Protector? Completely different story. Yes there's a big difference between silver and gold.

So in order to efficiently protect the paint you have to be Defense 1st. No exceptions. Not only are you dealing with Rebounding Slashers, you gotta deal with SG/SF Slashers. All those Archtypes will have a minimum of Gold Posterizer. And I didn't mention post scorers. My 2 way on NBA 2k18 was able to deal with all of that with just Gold Rim Protector.

Silver Rim Protector ain't enough considering most people with have gold Posterizer. So this really changes things.

Don't have to be defense primary, Two Way Athletic Finisher C gets Gold Rim Protector.

Pure glass cleaners also get gold rim protector and silver defensive stopper.

But if you want to make a post scorer, then the best you can do this year is get silver rim protector + bronze defensive stopper, and just accept the fact that you won't be an amazing defender, but you'll be able to make up for it on the offensive end with your overpowered post animations:

              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BlGQwgBCTWY" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If you want your character to play like Hakeem Olajuwon, all you can really do this year is replicate his offensive skillset by creating a PF shot creating post scorer, and then make sure that your team's center is capable of protecting the rim, because there's no way to build a MyPlayer who can fulfill both of those roles in 2K19.

Slightly confused with the free throw badges

Meaning if i get "bronze" badge its not limiting your max free throw rating?

Can i still get to be a "good" free throw shooter regardless of player type pending practice etc? I.e. as in 2k18?

For example PF with Defender & Driving / Finishing gets no free throw badge. What does that mean? Shaq fu type free throws?

FT badge is the free throw rating, i,e it went something like Bronze=65, Silver=75, Gold=85 for a 6'11 build, taller players are lower than shorter ones. 7'3 bigs withouy FT Ace are probably going to have 45-55 FT, so Hack-A-Shaq could be a viable strategy.

I used all levels of rim protector on bigs in 18 except HOF. To me the biggest difference is the ability to block dunks .

Two way rebounder (gold ) - definitely stopped a lot of contact dunks .made him 7’3 though and his help blocks weren’t as good . Think I killed too much of his athleticism . His jump was slow. 83 block .

Reb / sharp (silver ) - I was surprisingly happy here. Combined with 6’11 , bruiser gold , good strength , and vert , dude seemed to have it gold . Good help blocks too. This build rarely got dunked on and IDK how . Quick jump . 76 block .

Pure athletic ( bronze ) - not happy here at all. Couldn’t block anything especially dunks. Most blocks felt lucky . Also had low strength . Bruiser bronze . Quick jump though. 7’. 77 block .

Bonus two way SC SF ( bronze ) - actually decent for a foward . But I think that had more to do with silver def stopper and chase down artist . Block rating is second highest on this list at 80.

I think your right in terms of the badges, but i think you might be able to split the difference by maxing the wingspan on a two way post scorer PF this year.

Youd still have gold badges in all the post scoring moves and yeah i know i know everyone is obsessed with HOF badges, but youd have silver rim protector, defensive stopper, pick pocket, chase down artist and hustle rebounder (reboundings part of defense too!) on a 7 footer, throw in a i dunno 7'7 wingspan and youd have block roughly in the mid 80s and steal in the low 80s. Splash in a gold quick reflexes and keep the weight around 240-255 range and i think you will have the athleticism needed to be able to protect the rim plenty.

(Not too mention if you ever got to 99, that would give you HOF post scoring badges and elite level defender badges - i know i know #thegrind, but still, a guy can dream)

I made a max height SF of this build and the badges come out a little different, but I dropped the same number of points in the prelude that i had been with a shot creating post PF i tried before (30+), but instead of being a pushover on D, I was able to come across from the weak side and meet the 'Flying Dragon' at the rim and send his corny *** dunk attempt into the 3rd row. Thats at 6'10" 225 with a near min wingspan and SF geared ratings, so all that said, i feel like you could really wreak havoc with a 7 foot PF long armed version.

Just for fun I made a 6'4 playmaking shot creator, to see if he felt better than a 6'6 pure shot...

A lot easier to get to the rim and can still finish just as well.

Just as good of a shooter and being able to separate myself from the defender helps.

Now the question is, do I value 2 inches of height and hall of fame badges more than speed and ball handling?

Also made a 7'3 minimum weight maximum wingspan pure defender.

His lateral quickness is slow but his speed was still okay. Vertical took a big hit too

Just kind of wanted to see if they really did anything to 7'3 guys...well..honestly...seems like it only depends on the build.

Imo, just off feel not stats, he still felt extremely good.
In my first game I had a few crazy blocks and 8 steals with 8 boards and 30 points.

I know my strength obviously isn't high either, but with badges I can probably make that up...I always play with low weight centers cuz movement feels crisper to me....
