My pal and I are running the 4/5 for our team. I haven't decided a build yet but he wants to be a slashing defender. Should he be the 7'3 C with long *** wingspan or should he play PF? And what would you recommend to pair with that build? Thanks.



Made a sharp rebounder in prelude but didnt like the stats at all

Check out the "assuming archetypes are same what you making in 2k19" thread, jyoung had some nice suggestions for me there cause my friends who are in frontcourt are trying to figure it out

Shot post PF and 2 way finisher at C, both 6'11 sounds like a nice balance

If he wants to be a slash rim protector. Have him be the 5. 7'3 max wingspan or a shorter C around 6'11-7'1 can be viable too its pretty much personal choice. I'd make some sort of offensive big to complement him like a shot creating post or some sort of stretch. Knowing you have a rim protector to cover you in case you get beat is always a good thing.

It's going to be one of those builds that's reliant on badge boosts/hot streak boosts to shoot consistently.

If you can get hot, or you're able to trigger at least two of these three badges before you shoot (difficult shots, ankle breaker, pick & roll maestro OR dimer, catch & shoot, corner specialist), then you should hit a good percentage of your open looks.

Just looked at a pure rim protector PF that builds looks crazy . I would run small ball as the 5 with that build

Go 6'10 200lbs and you get 92 Vertical and 91 Lateral Quickness!

Kinda crazy pure post gets the same rim protector as a two way post. Hmmm oversight? Two way should get that on gold.


2 badges are pushing me towards a pure post center and not power forward pure post or a shot center or power forward


Pure post gets silver rim protector and hustle rebounder. That’s going to go a long way In stopping the influx of players switching from stretch bigs to shot creating post scorers. And glass cleaners. No builds other than athletic finisher primary gets gold posterizor so in theory we shouldn’t get dunk on a lot one on one

And that is expected so I’m ok with getting dunked on by them

It’s when non athletic finishing or slashing primary archetypes were yamming on my pure post because his rim protector was only on bronze. That was a HUGE problem


It’s literally became the only thing ppl would try on me after a couple plays of realizing I’m not gonna jump or fall for pump fakes

How deep can i get you under the rim and dunk on you with no skill

Why not go Slashing Post Scorer, still get Silver Rim Protector and Hustle Rebounder and the threat of the spin and dunk opens up for fades and hook, plus it's a bit more athletic.

If you run that build at the same height as a centre you get HOF Rim Protector instead of gold too.

Yeah I know but the PF has pick pocket gold compared to silver on The C , quick reflexes HOF compared to gold , pick dodger gold compared to silver , and has free throw ace compared to no free throw ace .

Seems slightly more balanced .

I been trying to figure out what is more valuable

HoF Def Stopper & Rim Prot plus silver pick pocket or Hof Def Stopper, Gold, Rim prot & Pick pocket ....................

True. Rebounding Rim Protector PF was my build last year, and the HOF Rim Protector was really good. I don't know if I could go without it. Really depends who you play with, I had some good scorers on my squad so I could focus on defense.

Also toying with a 6'10" pure lockdown SF, you get HOF defensive stopper and gold rim protector but only silver hustle rebounder. You do get a bronze corner specialist though which at least gives a bit more offense.
