Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

Tried the Magic Johnson build, 6'8" SF with playmaker and post scorer takeover.

I really like him for offline mycareer, but fitting him in online play would be more difficoult.

    and now some showtime

I might have to try that. I attempting to create one with my second slot, and I didn't like how it played. I leaned too far towards rebounding and defense.

A trapping/Olé defense that denies the three and forces the ball into the paint (where your big with 5+ HOF defensive badges is lurking) is going to be the best form of perimeter defense this year IMO.

I just don't think that any perimeter defensive build will be able to go out on the island and stay in front of a good ballhandler this year like they could in 2Ks of the past. At least in this demo, the dribbling is just too explosive for even max rated defenders to keep up.

No kidding. In 2K19, even playing against Lebron on Hall of Fame, my Lockdown could stop him from driving 8 out of 10 times. In this Demo, I'm getting cooked all day.

I think you might be right. I made a paint beast with the giant red pie for that reason. Only 6’10 for added mobility but I’m hoping I don’t get bullied too much with all the badges I can equip and high strength. I play too much Rec to worry about post skills anyways.

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

i made a 7'0 Center Rim/Sharp that can grab boards. Maxed out my shooting and defense/reb category because that is what my pie chart excels at so it would be kind of pointless to not max everything out... my inside is trash regardless but i did max out my standing dunk/Shot close.

                Goal
(Locking down the paint / spacing the floor / Rebounding)

                Shooting

i mainly want to be a catch and shoot type of player from the corner.. nothing fancy

                -silver catch and shoot
                -Gold Corner specialist
                -silver pick and popper
                -Deadeye silver
                -Range extender bronze
                -flex release - silver
                -steady shooter bronze

since i maxed my wingspan out i tried to get useful badges that increase my ability to make the shot

i forgot what else i actually did here but it looks something like that im pretty sure i had more shooting badges to upgrade here. ill have to wait for the game to drop to redo it but thats what it looked like for the most part

                Paint protection

i want my opponent to always feel insecure when matched up against me at all times

                intimidator - hall of fame
                Post lockdown- Gold
                Rim protection - Gold

if i happen to get switched onto a guard i also want him to at least feel my presence (which is why i went for clamps, tireless defender and chase down artist on bronze)

                Tireless defender- bronze
                clamps- bronze
                chase down artist -bronze

                Rebounding
                Reb chaser - Gold
                Box- Gold
                Brick wall- Gold
                Worm- bronze

                Weight

i think i did a steven adams type of weight around 265.. ill tweak with this on release too.

*will most likely tweak things on live but for the most part that is how my player looked

                  Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

More reasons that guards are OP.
Same exact builds between SG, SF, PF. Same “exact” allocation of attribute points, with an exception because in some places SF and PF can’t go as high as guards. So what I did was try to even out badge points to get an equal amount in every category.
After allocating all attribute points the SF had 12 points left and the PF had 24. This might sound like a lot, but it’s actually nothing. Those points were put into Post Moves to even out badge points for SF and PF.
Again the guard has higher ratings in every category, but also more badge point upgrades. 7 more than the SF and 11 more than the PF.
That equals out to 3 HOF Badges for the guard, 2 HOF Badges and 1 Silver for the SF, and 2 HOF for the PF in Finishing.
3 HOF for the guard, 2 HOF and 1 Gold for SF, and 2 HOF and 1 Silver for the PF in Shooting.
3 HOF for the guard, 2 HOF and 1 Bronze for the SF, and 1 HOF and 1 Gold for the PF in Playmaking.
2 HOF and 1 Silver for the guard, 2 HOF and 1 Bronze for the SF, and 2 HOF for the PF in Def/Rebounding.
Please tell me again how guards aren’t OP.
And before you try the argument that guards are supposed to be the best players in the game, take into account that the majority of best players currently and historically are 6’7” or taller.
All I’m asking for is balance, because at this point everyone, including me, will be making a 6’5” Guard.

Guards are supposed to be the best ball handlers so if you pick a guard with heavy playmaking that does a better job of maximizing attribute/badge points. Again you want all the skill of a guard with the height of a forward.... so if you could make a sf who could do the exact same things as a pg why build a pg? You want to be taller? Cool but suffer slightly in skill. You’d get more attribute points as a sf if you picked a more traditional sf role. The more versatile you are, the less of a specialist you become and that’s for ANY position when it comes to 2K

Fine but the solution isn't making everyone taller than 6'7 just a decent ball handler with decent speed w/ ball at best by default.
The solution would be locking speedbosting and certain dribbling animations to players taller than 6'6/6'7, because those are the real game breaking mechanisms not the ratings per se.

Same logic they already apply to dunk animations and was supposed to be applied to jumpshots before the "techinical reasons" mentioned by beluba.

And SF’s are supposed to be the most well rounded players.
Again, 6’5” guards are the best most OP builds in the game.
I never once said anything about wanting the Playmaking of a guard and again currently and throughout history the best players in the game are mostly 6’7” and above. However, since were talking about the Playmaking of a guard, you might want to take a look around the league and through history to see all the guys that are 6’7” and taller that have as good if not better Playmaking as a guard.
No, you don’t get more attribute points for a small forward through power forward regardless of what build you chooses. A 6’5” guard gets the most attributes and the most badges regardless of build.
How many 6’5” guards can you think of that are the best players in the game? Look that up and get back to me.
If you can make a 6’5” guard that’s better than any other height or position, why make any other height or position?

No guarantee that 6'5 is the META for guards. Everybody was running around saying the 6'2 guard build from 2k16 was the best until 6'7 guards were discovered. I'd hold judgement until the actual game comes out. Ronnie said SF's were getting a buff so things can change once the game is released.
