Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

Today I should get the demo.

The idea is trying to create a Magic Johnson build, probably a 6'7" SF.

Shooting, dribbling and (if necessary) dunking won't be a priority while I will pump up post hook and post control to increase the number of finishing and playmaking badge points.

Then I will equip him with all the post badges and see if I can activate some of them (e.g. post spin techinician and backdown punisher) from the protect the ball stance at the 3pt line.

A big SHOULD be one dimensional with a slight increase to secondary.

If you go post you shouldnt be able to defend or rebound as well. If you go defense you shouldnt be able to rebound very well.

I'm sure they will tick up the versatility before release, but I'm hoping not too much.

Shorter players should be more diverse.

      Idk what people want man...

I know this post is old, but I had to take the bait...

I believe KAT, Joel Embiid, Jokic, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, Miles Turner, and Porzingus just to name a few, can all shoot, dunk, rebound and defend the basket. All very good players but only one is arguably a top 10 player.

If I mentioned guards with elite handles, elite shooting and the ability to finish at the rim, it would be Harden, Curry, Kyrie and maybe Dame. Two of them are MVPs and HOF locks and the other two are border line top 10 players. More importantly this list is much smaller and is exclusive to ‘superstars’.

I’m fine with penalizing athletic ability for height, but don’t limit a player’s skill level because he’s 6’10 or taller. I feel bad for the 16 year that will grow 3 inches during his junior year. He’s going to mysteriously forget how to shoot.

I’ll throw out a question since 2k19 was flooded with them and I’m sure 2k20 will be as well, What player in the history of the NBA was able to speed up their ability to move with the basketball when they dribbled behind the back or did a cross over?

A big that can shoot wide open corner 3s, dunk/rebound and defend under the basket sounds like the NBA I watch and the players the GMs are looking for. I’ll take it a step further and say this is the bare minimum otherwise you cannot play in the league (ask Carmelo Anthony). Only in 2Kville will you find a plethora of elite athletic dribblers that makes their living 30 feet away from the basket.

        Lol...

In 2k19 you had bigs shooting 3s with a 48 three rating from TOP OF THE KEY if left unguarded. So lets recap....

You want a big that can rebound, defend, shoot, and finish? Probably want to be able to post fade also?

THE MOST DOMINANT BIG IN NBA HISTORY was Shaq. Hands down. Not even close.

Shaq caught the ball in the post in his LA days, he was scoring no matter what. You could double, triple, and he would finish over you or through you.

But the man was an absolute snail end to end. Towards the end of his career he literally DID NOT play defense. He played one end of the court. But STILL was putting up 18-8 WAY past his prime.

Shaq NEVER made shots consistently outside 8 feet. Struggled with free throws. Was an average rebounder his ENTIRE career for his size, and was horrible defending smaller, quicker players.

You want to go more recent? Sure...

Lets to KP because he is BY FAR the most versatile player you mentioned and ia SEVEN THREE.

KP has been a HORRIBLE rebounder for his size. 6rpg at 7'3 is awful. He gets bullied by players like Drummond on the glass. He might get you a block or two on defense but thats almost exclusively due to his size.

Shooting? Sure... Post? Absolutely. Finishing? Can dunk but isnt finishing THROUGH or OVER people like a Giannis. And though QUICK for his size, guards will just blow past him because... Well.... Physics.

Neither of those players have been able to be replicated for years by big men in the MC mode, and rightfully so. With the build system last year we were SO hyper specialized that in My Career you could average 50rpg if you wanted on the CPU. You could grab 25-30 rebounds in a 5 MINUTE QUARTER GAME in JRC.

Plus, without any badges or a rating you could GREEN threes? You had a 70 post game so the most DOMINANT big build could rebound, defend, finish, post score, and shoot?

        Fohhhhhhhhhh

You go rebounding? You should be able to rebound and dunk. DONE.

Defense? Block shots and be pretty solid on the glass.

Post? Score a lot in a half court set but middling to awful in the other big functions.

Shoot? If you have a 70 three you should have 60 everything else if above 6'10.

Were not factoring in badges or animations and you KNOW there will be a "money" jumper in 2k20. Its a problem with 2ks engine, period.

I said before the demo came out i wanted to see if a 6'7-6'10 build could even have every statistical stat to a 70 in order to be decent everywhere and great nowhere. With the ability to select our badges, my thoughts were I could be a threat in any situation. I'm actually glad that isnt possible unless you go shorter.

7'3s need to die in MC modes. The average center SHOULD be under 7'. Taller wings (like my,6'10 slashing shot creator in 19) SHOULD be penalized harder. That guy was awesome but he was CHEESE. I could shoot, defend, dunk, post, EVERYTHING. If I had to give up his rebounding, defense, and ball handling to be that big... I'm good with that.

While i can concede that there are likely going to be changes made already. I just wish people, would let the game come out before they make any sweeping changes.

          16 we had demi Gods
          18-19 we had roleplayers
          20 we get rotation players

I predict next year we’ll be able to make benchplayers at most

C'mom man, it seems pretty clear that this year my player builder is penalizing too much wings and bigs.

Forget lebron or KD, I'm very doubtful that I can recreate a batum or igoudala type of SF in 2k20.

They should have better understand what was to remove from 2k19 (e.g. 6'9" point forward speedbosting, glitched jumpshot, etc.) rather than making all forwards and bigs role players or something near that.

lol ya ok, I'd love to see how fast this board blows up in a hissy fit when that build waltzed onto the park.
Nah my perspective is different since I don't play online at all. So most of the complaints I see in these threads, I never experienced because I don't play park and other online modes.

Me personally I wouldn't want to have a player with multiple 99 attributes or even one 99 attributes. If that was the case, I would make a CAP in ML. That would be the easy way out and as a offline gamer, that wouldn't fun to play as a 99 OVR demigod. I don't have a problem with those 10 pie chart builds. If I could choose one of those 10 preset pie chart builds and that be our full potential builds, then I would be good with that. I like playing MyCareer offline despite its flaws. Most times l dont care for the story and the overall AI decision making is clueless at times. I like playing MC for the grind. That's why I don't necessarily try to make a CAP in ML. Because its easy just to make him how I want. After a part of the season, I'm not playing for anything. In MC, I am always mentally playing for some thing.

My problem now is that we are still glorified role players who are reliant on badges. If it wasn't for badges, most of these builds would be useless. I want to create an athletic 3 & D Wing. I'm not asking to guard like Kawhi and shoot like Steph. I just want to be able to guard multiple positions at good level, shoot 38-42% from 3pt off of Spot Up looks and off screens, be good in transition. I actually like the preset pie chart build for a 2 Way wing. You get Mid 80s Defensive ratings, 80 3pt and Mid Range, high 70s Finishing, 80 pass Accuracy, and 75 Ball Control. If that was my true build, I would be okay with it. My only problem with the build would be the 80 Lat Quickness. I was okay with everything but that. Felt so sluggish on defense. If I could have 88-90 Lat Quicknes, I would okay

All the long paragraphs aside , instead of criticizing everybody for not liking the pie charts why not just help us find a good build ?

I’m still looking for a Bosh -Esque PF. I would appreciate the help a lot.

Those max height max wingspan stretch big power forwards are going to be dominant now that 2K decided to let them have access to any jump shot animation. They get 30 shooting badges and 9 defensive badges with an 81 three ball and a 95 post fade.

I expect to see those all over the park and in pro am lineups that just run 1 guard or 1 lockdown.

If dual takeover is still possible on myplayers then it will get post/sharp takeover.

Yes I have gotten the Shaq comparison.
Used the piechart with finishing and defence.

Think the Physical Rating boosts are temporary. Not sure if they are one game or for the week. If it is weekly then you have to play career to get them. It'll help as you are leveling up player to get temp boosts to physicals ratings. But for those with 95 speed, it'll allow them to get up to 99 speed.

Yeah for physical ratings it'll help those with high 80s or low 90s. But for skills, the skill boosts doesn't increase the ratings, it increases the percentage of them.
