I presume it's the wingspan. I noticed the block and steal ratings were increased. 7'1" is a pretty long wingspan for a 6'8" player.

Here’s a screen shot of the builder when you’re picking vitals. So this guy is a bit taller than the 6’5 guy. His weight and wingspan are almost the same as current gen standard 6’8 guy so I’m not sure what’s causing the green and red numbers on his stats. Still gives you a decent idea on where you could dump your stats.

This was an early leaked screenshot of the builder before the announcement. Looks like a small Center or a big PF. Only about 936 stats allocated if I estimated right. So less than the guard in the video. Gives you a rough idea on what the caps on a guy of this size might be though. Averageish weight but fairly long wingspan for that height. Don’t know how accurate this pic is but for a “leak” it looks pretty identical to the one they release in the announcement.

The body does seem to affect the green/red modifiers as it did in past. The 7'1 wingspan lowers Shot while increasing rebounding. Height & Weight affects the Ball Handle, Speed with Ball, etc.

That first picture is ideal for me as my PF would have very similar vitals. So if it is around the 936 points to allocate, it would give me an idea how I could possibly create my build.

Ah, I see now. The body settings screen lets you determine your max caps for each rating, but....we can allocate points to the ratings on the next screen??? I wonder if that points allocation screen that they're showing is where you get to test your build?

I definitely think they'll keep ability to test builds. The more I try to theoretically create my build, the more unappealing it seems. I'm essentially creating an All Around PF. With an All Around PF, there's not many ratings I can skip. The only rating I feel comfortable skipping is the Post Control. It seems like I would have to have most ratings around the 75-80 mark. Maybe with the Build tester with maxed badges, the build might be worth grinding out.

I've been leaning towards a SG build. It feels as a big unless I create a specialist defined build, have to make a lot of sacrifices and rely heavily on badges. I just don't want to feel like I'm spending significant time grinding for badges with related ratings sitting at 75.

The weird thing is I busted out the builder for current gen to check and 85 inches (7’1”) was the default. So it had no impact on stats at all. Maybe they changed the default to be lower in next gen though.

Yeah like I said to ksutton, it’s a bit weird because 7’1 is the default wingspan for 6’8 in current gen. And the weight is close to the default in current gen too. That’s why I was surprised to see all the green/red modifiers. You’re probably right and it’s not the body shape but I just found it curious that there were so many apparent stat changes for what was default in current gen.

Well since the guard build had close to 1000, I sure hope they don’t decrease your points as you get bigger. That would definitely make me a bit chapped.

I hear you on that. Hopefully “balanced” builds come with a mess of badges to make it worth the lower attribute ceilings. Otherwise you’re going to have to specialize as a big and it might be frustrating to see guards who can attack you from everywhere and play solid defense. Of course this is predicated on the whole 1000 points to spend thing which seems likely but not a certainty.

I swear. If bigs get less points to spend for whatever reason, I'm going to be heated. It's already bad enough (in theory) that we don't have ratings that we can just flat out ignore, but to get less points then wing players would just be a slap in the face.

I'm starting to feel like this going to be a guard/wing-heavy game.

You'll definitely get more badges. On the video, I paused at the 2 second mark, he only had Mid Range at 52 but that was enough to get 2 gold badges(but had no badge points). So as long as you get a rating over 50+, you can get certain badges. But, the issue is the assumed grind for those badges at those low ratings. Grinding for shooting badges with sub 75 shooting ratings is a chore.

It’s always been like that for some stupid reason. Bigs are super limited in 2k. But 6’5 guards can damn near replicate Jordan. Meanwhile We can barely replicate any skilled bih like Hakeem , Duncan , KG , AD , Kareem , Charles , etc

It does suck. I really want to create a big. But you can't recreate any skilled bigs. The thought of all the sacrifices and grinding for badges is a turnoff for creating a big. Creating a specialist big is only fun when you're a Pro-Am/Park only guy and you know your role.
But for a 6'5 Guard , I can easily skip out on some ratings and have athleticism make up for it.

I feel like this is my 10th time saying this in this thread but people are just going off the video of that 2K posted of their myplayer builder where it appeared you could max out all those stats on a 6’5 build. There could be things we don’t know like stats having different weights or what they showed might not even be the final version but it’s the only concrete evidence we have at this point.

Your faux Rodman/Kobe builds aren’t really relevant as over half the stats you listed aren’t even customizable in Myplayer. On top of that, 2K has never used the same formula for calculating myplayer overalls as they do for NBA players.

Wings are pretty much limited as bigs.
if you want to make a 6'7-6'8 forward you have to live with huge drops in key stats as speed, speed with the ball, ball handing and shooting.

Some big probably ate Mike's lunch during a mocap session and ever since then bigs got the crap deal. Trend better not follow next gen but I'm not holding my breath. They really hate the idea of a demigod big but they have no issue of guys greening half court. Makes my blood boil just thinking about it.
