I couldn't agree more about the subs. There is a way to set up custom rotations but when you are controlling all 30 teams it becomes a nightmare when injuries pop up to keep adjusting those custom rotations. The work around I found that kinda helps is making sure each team has a really good 6th and or 7th man to avoid those scoring draughts by 1 team or the other. I'm also on current gen and not having that pro-play feature detracts from my chances of getting 24 too. AS of right now lol

Edit: He did. My apologies. That's what I get for spending all year in the '80s.Last edited by VDusen04; 08-16-2023, 12:54 PM.Comment

He did. People over used it because it was one of the faster ones in the game.Comment

Lol I mean it was kind of obvious. Probably won’t really see any likeness updates until a few weeks into the season. New animations are cool, but the little details stand out to some of us lol.Comment

I don't know what people mean by "canned animations" - every time you see anyone move in the game it's an animation that's playing. The characters do not move by physics or something like that..Comment

I think people are trying to figure out how ProPlay actually looks in live action because it doesn't seem it'd make sense for entire sequences to be mimicked as they are in that Durant example.
I'm not really expecting new ball physics but if I'm understanding Mike Wang correctly, I am kind of expecting 2K24 appear to appear to be much more visually organic in ways we learned to not notice over the years. We've just sort of accepted that there's going to be a limited amount "in-between animations" but there's a chance we could be blown away about how much extra detail it brings to the game to have those fleshed out.Comment

Very little in this game is realistic.

I guess it’s how you define revolutionary
Devs have been using mocap for 20+ years to capture hyper realistic animations. That’s a process in itself. With this technology they’ve captured about 25% of how players in the league RUN without having to do that. That’s pretty amazing in a Y2Y cycle…and that’s just running animations, lol
I realize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for someone who loves signature style (it’s what literally made me buy my XBOX 360 once I played 2K7)…..I’m beyond excited about the possibilities.Comment

I find it difficult to get Shaq to dunk period.. I don't know if it's issues with his sig or something coded weird to his player model for whatever reason, but you can max his standing dunk rating and tendency and rarely will he actually do it. Movement dunks are fine, so no issue when he's a dribble away, and when the game defaults to one of those post dunk on the defender animations he will do those as well.. But his dunk package just seems broken. Like open under the rim and just don't dunk broken.Comment

With all these gameplay changes, signature styles, ProPlay and what not, the best piece of advice I can give to those who care is: Create an unpatched version of 2K24 at launch and store it away in an external hard drive for later use.
Last year I did just that for 2K23 but was forced to return to the updated version because of the sheer amount of missing players, updates and etc. Hopefully everything is there at launch for 2K24 this year. But man the gameplay for me was so much better at launch then the patched garbage we got towards the end for 23.Comment

According to Mike Wang ProPlay will bring new passes. I'm interested to see what these new animations look like and if it also effects ball physics/angles on some passes.
Mike has great info on his Twitter. Recommend checking it out as there is to much to post here. One that stood out to me was his mention of a Steve Francis dribble package. Does anyone know if this is new? If so that could be indication that legends will receive ProPlay updates as well.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
I think folks are referring to how the Kevin Durant sequence was 1:1 to real life in terms of exact movement sequences from both the offensive player and defensive player over a series of maneuvers (literally like a replay but in video game form).
I think people are trying to figure out how ProPlay actually looks in live action because it doesn't seem it'd make sense for entire sequences to be mimicked as they are in that Durant example.
Would love more technical information and some raw footage to be able to make a better assessment about ProPLAY.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
I'm not sure how I feel about defensive bumps costing the ball handler a adrenaline bar
It might work to balance out online play with left/right dribble spamming
But how would it work for the AI in offline play?
The AI is notoriously bad at attacking the rim without colliding into the defender several times before forcing up a bad shot in the paint
If the AI gets bumped more than twice on a drive would the cpu have any new logic to know all it's offensive attributes is nerfed and pass the ball?
Or would the cpu be completely oblivious to the nerf and continue to try to score regardless?
I'm hoping (like I do every year with 2k) that there's new logic coded for the AI to adapt and utilize all the new additions add to the game this year (hopefully new customizable tendencies as well)
If not, we might be dealing with one of the worse 2k to sim/play because the AI was not upgraded for all of this years changesLast edited by Peaceful dash 88; 08-17-2023, 01:34 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Gameplay Enhancements Revealed with Trailer
People are thinking WAY too hard about this ProPlay system. Think automated mocap for animations. That's it.
They're not copy/pasting IRL moments into the game to perfectly mirror things we've seen. They're using existing footage to essentially add mocap-quality animations so that players move like their IRL counterparts. Dribble moves, dunks, passes, shots, etc.Comment
