That's exactly what he was saying. I didn't expect folk here to be sensitive of the analogy he used. Though it's 2023, you literally have to think 2 days ahead before you post anything today, in case it causes offence.

Anyhow, I digress. I've watched a reasonable amount of footage so far, and very little has been on offer that makes me want to put down 2k23.

I'm thinking 2k delivers to the consumer best, when we skip a few cycles.

I dunno; I feel like not descending to Al Bundy levels of crudeness towards women (or whomever) is a pretty low bar to clear in terms of basic decency, and at OS in several years of semi-regular posting here, alabamarob is the first person I’ve seen trip on that bar.

      Totally agree.

I have to strongly disagree with your assessment there. Everything with 2k24 looks better besides the jersey physics for that era. Looking back on that makes 24 look even more impressive.

Guess it depends on the individual. I'm not taking shots. Maybe I'm just a relic who hasn't changed with the times. Sometimes it's difficult to navigate today's standards in society coming from an older generation where this sort of thing wouldn't have been much of an issue. From my personal stand point, at least.

Anyhow, enough of that, I don't want to derail the thread.

No doubt I'll be full of bluster as usual, cry that I'm not going to buy the game, then buckle in the first week. I'm a sucker like that.

Though to put the track on repeat, yet again......just an option to port rosters over, puulease. I'm begging! Help us lowly roster makers out!

But how, Kobe looks so thin in 2k24. He wasn't that thin in 2010. Just something that stands out to me. I really like 2k14 body models more. Players look more human.

After watching the videos. They have gotten to the point where they can turn up paint defense and physicality.

The perimeter defense and jumpshooting realism look very accurate. Floaters look useful again.

Once you unlock perimeter scoring and penetration, you have to get more contact and quicker rotations in the paint.

There is alot of rim running and straight line drives. The defenders should be in position to force the pass, as opposed to trying to block dunks.

Game looks much improved outside of the paint though.

This is how 2k invitees should play this game to show what really is PROPLAY is about in this Broadcast cam and this way of playing.

Steph movement here is really smooth did not saw too much from Dame nowim excited to get this game. really wish they can update Nurkic someday

Don’t know how I missed this particular video

                  Those Dame sigs are CLEAN

That sequence at 5:15 where AI Dame dribbles up court, sizes up and hits that 3 was nasty…

Liking what I’m seeing from the AI offense so far

Good slider baselines should be updated and hopefully there will be a couple of sneaker/likeness updates.

I’m optimistic about about a few things, a little underwhelmed by a lot of other things. I hope there will be some pleasant surprises along the way since there weren’t any huge changes made to the overall game. Maybe less unexplored bugs will allow for more focus on updating the little things that have been looked over.
I would be pleasantly surprised if things like All Star Uniforms in MyEra were corrected (hated seeing players from the past wear today’s uniforms). Another overlooked oversight that has been in 2k for YEARS is when you check the box scores and click on a players highlight reel, they NEVER show that player’s assists. Kinda dumb considering at the beginning of the 4th quarter, they’ll show the assist of the game. I believe they also show assists when you win player of the game.

This was the best video by far. AI Dame was pulling off some moves. Scoot's euro baseline was nice. The AI jumping at CP3's pump fake into a pullup around 4:39 and didn't instant recover.

I think 2K is trying to set a baseline to smooth the game out and ProPlay was the first step. I know everyone has their gripes but 2K has gotten way better at the way they implement things even playbooks got team specific plays that most probably don't realize.

The little things thread is gonna explode even more this year (CP3 was sitting on the subs table to check in).

They're revamping many things with the time they have.. it's just a matter of time before they really have this game so close to real life.

Yes not only that they made Proplay avoid getting block when driving into the lane as you look at Dame Scoot and Curry driving layup and euro's. but they need to fix that spin though as it doesnt flow smoothly with every player unless its Lebron.

That one body type, sure. It definitely looks more accurate than the current Kobe body type, but that was the 1st of 3 body types back then. 2k has hundreds more face scans and face models that are more accurate now along with many other details that didn't exist back then. On the whole, 2k24 looks vastly better than 2k14 did.

I would like for them to put physicality in the hands of the defender. Like allow you to use some button combination to determine how physical you want to be in the paint with the trade off being you risk being called for a foul.

Havent played this is in years but i remember with FIFA you have the ability to tug on the jersey of the offense as a defender but if you over do it you get carded.

Think if they made physicality a risk/reward thing it would be good for the gameplay. Would at least require a focused effort to make sure its balanced for the online park/rec modes. And all offline modes would benefit from that.

The bodies do seem to be worse this year. They’re either too muscular or too thin.

This. In 2K23 Giannis definitely had his own jog animation and most don't notice or look for that.

I did think it would be a more substantial leap though, I thought all mannerisms and shot animations would be like the trailer but I can still see the improvements.
