I feel like ProPlay will pay huge dividends for folks like myself who play 10-12 min quarters. I find it hard to get deep into a Modern Era franchise because of the draft classes and overall lack of immersion. Now, I feel like I can just slow burn a season or two in the Modern Era and enjoy all the "little things" ProPlay provides. I'll get my deep franchise fix from the Kobe or LeBron Era's.

When you can have fun just watching these videos and notice all the subtle new animations and how fluid everything looks you know 2K did something right with Proplay. Can’t wait to get my hands on this. Imagine Proplay in NFL 2K!

The Insomniac games (Spiderman Remaster, Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart) are great examples of this. The Ray Tracing Performance modes look and run great. There are obviously some concessions compared to the Fidelity modes but if you are looking for the best of both worlds it's hard to complain about those permonace RT modes.

Also a shout out to Metro Exodus on PS5/Series X. That was one of the early games that I played on PS5 that impressede. I couldn't believe that:
        A. It was technically a last gen game
        B. The next-gen upgrade was free. They easily could have charged for a remastered version like we've seen with other remastered next-gen games.

There are plenty of other examples but the games mentioned illustrate the point that you can maintain 60fps and have a great looking game without sticking to native 4k. I'd argue the average person playing on a 4k tv would struggle knowing if a game is native 4k or upscaled. Obviously depends on the game, upscaling techniques, the range of dynamic resolution, etc but it's usually comparable.

Agree but if they didn't fix player tendencies, we will still be waiting user roster edit.

Live had an army of 2k shills to go up against and issues outside the devs control that put the nail in their coffin. If they had made the right moves and listened to the right people they had every opportunity to still be around and be better than what we have to put up with from 2k today.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the case and 2k know it.
This is a bit hyperbolic. We could call out 2k but it's really no worse than any other sports game. It's not like the EA sports games are getting more substantial upgrades year to year than 2k. I think Madden just updated their player models this year and that was a long standing complaint. Not to mention that it took a viral campaign just to get the Madden to put any effort into Franchise mode and it seems like they still have a ways to go.

I'm fine with the 2k criticism, but when we start holding them to a higher standard than other annual sports games I feel like we are being unfair. To me, it's not a 2K problem or 2k being lazy, it's the current state of annual sports games. Between the short dev times and the emphasis on microtransactions and the modes that support them we aren't seeing the same upgrades year to year that were more common in PS2/Xbox and even PS3/360 era.

With all that said, there has long been the stigma that sports games are the same every year. We can act like this is just a 2K thing or that this is a new thing because of microtransactions, but this is a conversation people have been having about sports games for a long time.

Checking back on some gameplay videos, I'm seeing organic real basketball being played that looks less strict which is a big plus to me. One awesome play I saw is Mitchell driving against Randle and knocking down a step back mid because Randle is overplaying the drive. I really hope this type of give and take action isn't tightened up in future patches.

Unfortunately whatever gameplay we see won’t last more than two months at best. Patches will always change everything.

Help defense, and paint contact on standing layups/post moves. If Czar has got those 2 at a decent point then they can leave the perimeter unlocked. Otherwise we will be patched back to bumper cars, or ghost contests.

Maybe there's an explanation somewhere but I don't understand why they ever removed the different gameplay styles (casual, default, sim). Even Madden has them. This would allow them to cater one of the styles to a certain portion of the fanbase (the "online" community for example) while using the sim setting to appeal to fans like us that prefer a more realistic basketball experience.

It would also help sort online games. I might actually be interested in playing online if I could select the sim game style and know I'm going to play with/against like minded people that are going to at least try to play a realistic style. For people that are just focused on winning by any means necessary, there could be a competitive option (like Madden).

I know this is one of your major gripes (and this is only one example) but early in this vid has Jonas backing down Allen and there’s no double team (starts around 1:16): https://youtu.be/7avV3MSHNbw?si=Wb5isQLYaqnUFIzJ

That’s pretty egregious, especially considering who Lopez and Giannis were guarding. I think you can live with Herb Jones or Zion taking a jump shot if it means helping Allen from getting bulldozed by Val.

Player models (bodies) need major improvement. The have a very cartoonish look to them outside of the face scans. Disappointing. Looks like every player has the same leg length no matter how tall they are as well LMAO.

Didn't Czar say that post double-team logic should have been working in 2K23 on next-gen, so also presumably in 2K24?
