I think this highlights what some of us have been saying. The improvements made by ProPlay are nuanced. Players are still performing the same moves (crossovers, behind the back, floaters, etc) the movements are just captured differently and, based on this video, there might be better awareness about triggering appropriate animations in certain situations. It's natural that things look similar. 2k was already trying to replicate these things through mo-cap, the animations are just a little more believable and accurate.

I think it was 24 who mentioned how different things stand out for everyone. For some of us, ProPlay is a noticeable difference. Maybe not night and day, but far from being no different from 23. Other people have an eye for detail when it comes to player likeness and other visual inaccuracies (body types being off, show and accessories being incorrect, hair/facial hair being off, etc).
I hope the part of the video showing off the halftime highlights is indicative of 2K24's.

I thought last year's highlight show really sucked ***, TBH. [emoji1][emoji1][emoji1]

It'll be very minor to most, but I'm hoping 2K worked on that aspect (for individual player highlights too).

If you look close in the video below I believe he is in street clothes (black suit) at the end of the bench. Adam Morrison is also on the bench for the Lakers in a black suit as well.

Pretty impressed with a lot of the new pro play animations. Hard to take much away from some of these videos but the jumpers and dribble sequences definitely seem more authentic to each player.

One small thing I liked seeing was the variance in pull up jumpers and floaters from close range. A lot of the close range jumpers had players fading away just like in real life. Nice touch there, something I’ve been wanting for years

Player ratings that mattered, cut scenes, differences between good and average players. Immersion. The games of yesteryear did alot of things better than today. The sad part is that 2k could take all of the old tecmo, and early EA stuff and add it to the game with minimal effort.
Tecmo Super Bowl was the only game I would bench a star player for a bench player depending on if the star player was in bad health and the bench player was in excellent health. Never bothered to make substitutions in Madden. Ratings mattered and there was a strategy to it in Tecmo Super Bowl.

I think what he was trying to express was that while today’s games are prettier the games of yesteryear, while not as attractive were a lot more fun and addictive to play

I dunno if it’s arena specific to the kings but I like the smoky effect 2K23 has. It adds a dynamic atmosphere. Also it really seems like outside of adjusting those filters we’re talking pretty much identical graphics. I wonder if any arenas in 2K24 maintain that smoky effect?

The differences in proplay are subtle but little things like Fox almost losing the dribble(?) at 2:25 are nice touches.

I don’t think proplay alone will convince me to get this game. If I only played with modern players it would though.

But being that I use all time rosters with mostly legends, it just doesn’t feel right having different players using different tech on the court. Or seeing someone as smooth and graceful as MJ or Hakeem moving more jarring and less refined than a Luka or LeBron who are naturally clunkier and more briutish in movements.

Would love for proplay to be applied to legend sigs for 2K25 but I don’t know if 2K will ever have the necessity to do that. Then again since eras was such a selling point I can see them doing another big legends feature in the future touting how you can really play as MJ or Magic etc.

I predict a lot of roster creators and sig editors for classic players will have a tough time deciding between keeping the mocap animations designated for those players or finding the most accurate proplay sigs to give them instead.

I think I prefer the smoky/hazy look of 2K23 as well but I like the overall lighting of 2K24. While I'd obviously love for ProPlay to include the older Era's I like that it gives the Modern Era its own distinct look and feel. I played the Modern Era the least in 2K23 because the Jordan and Kobe Era's were just so much more engaging. I know I am gonna spend a lot of time in those Era's again this year but now when I do jump into my 2023 MyNBA I feel like it'll feel a bit more unique.

To add - Mocap hasn’t been done away with…

We got new legend passing, movement etc. signature style in 2K23 without ProPlay

Been watching videos when I can. So far things look smoother, especially on court collisions. Since I only play myleague/era’s these days I’ll probably buy after the first update. Good slider baselines should be updated and hopefully there will be a couple of sneaker/likeness updates.

I’m optimistic about about a few things, a little underwhelmed by a lot of other things. I hope there will be some pleasant surprises along the way since there weren’t any huge changes made to the overall game. Maybe less unexplored bugs will allow for more focus on updating the little things that have been looked over.

This is how 2k invitees should play this game to show what really is PROPLAY is about in this Broadcast cam and this way of playing.

Steph movement here is really smooth did not saw too much from Dame nowim excited to get this game. really wish they can update Nurkic someday

Nothing wrong with his point; the problem was the distasteful / insulting analogy he used to express that point.

And I mean, body models, animations, it looks smoother and better IMO. I might have to install nba 2k14 again.

This jersey fit cannot be replicate in any 2k games anymore which why i cannot take the my era game seriously especially the late 90's to early 2000 when the golden era of hip hop is at its peak.

Iverson with a jersey sticking to his body just kills me.

In this video, Jerseymade talks about how the layups are contextual in that the offensive player will now avoid the defender with shot attempts because of ProPLAY. Sounds cool.

My thing is, it almost feels like it was pure chance that this mentioned. Why wouldn't the 2K devs talk more about good stuff like this prior to launch I wonder..

Anyway... I'm an OKC guy when it comes to current NBA and hearing that SGA (still) doesn't have a signature jumpshot, that's kinda killed my excitement. Damn...
