Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
Maybe a glimmer of hope for help defense at 10:13 and 13:24. You can see Reaves rotate to presumably help on the ballhandler. He's egregiously late, but maybe increasing the Help Defense slider would make him rotate faster. Didn't Czar say help defense was improved? No sign of tagging the roll man or pre-rotating.

Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
Wow!
How is this game already going backwards graphically this early into the new generation. The lighting or lack of looks terrible. Last gen games lighting look better.
It’s becoming glaringly obvious what lack of any competition is doing to this game. Certainly taken the throne from Madden.
So disappointing this game has fast become nothing but a cash grab to have kids spending and playing longer with the nba logo slapped on
2k isn't perfect, but it's no worse than any other annual sports title and there is an argument that they do more year after year than any other sports franchise.Comment

Interesting. That thicker body type is perfect for wizards Jordan but I hope they don’t also apply it to 90’s Jordan. They finally made him appropriately lean again in 2K23.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
So after watching a lot of the gameplay clips from community day, I don’t know. I’m a little underwhelmed. I realize I shouldn’t expect too much on a yearly release cycle, but I think I thought Proplay would bring more to the game. Visually, it looks identical to 2K23, which is disheartening. I think that’s why some people are upset is because graphically the game is way beyond needing an overhaul. Is the art team even working? I mean jeez. PC mods on last gen doing more work visually right now. I want to be wowed visually as much as I do with gameplay and Im not the only one. If you go into the replay system during a game in 23 and you take individual stills of a game in motion, there’s a great lighting to the pictures and all kinds of stuff that make the game look great in stills and that’s what they sell us on. In motion, outside of smoother animations because of pro play, it looks just like 23. Player models look the same overall. Faces weren't updated very much, if at all. And body types? Do we really need to keep talking about the awkward character models? Don’t misunderstand, I’ve been with 2k since the Dreamcast. I want this game to be a quality all around product, not just a glorified roster update with better design in one area. Is it worth $70 or more when all I want is sim basketball with my Mavs and could care less about all the myplayer, myteam, etc. crap? I just don’t know. Maybe it feels different and better? We won’t know that till we play it individually. The question I have is - even if it feels great day one, will the constant patching change everything eventually? I remember 2K23 being great out of the box too.
I don’t think they should be charging $70 or more, until they take the game visually and gameplay wise to truly NexGen. Gameplay may be becoming next GEN being a few iterations into this game now on next GEN consoles, but visually, it’s still very last gen and it’s maddening! (See what I did there?)Last edited by TheDon7727; 08-30-2023, 07:28 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
I said this in another thread. EA consistently has outpaced 2k in overall art. Why? I wish I knew. But outside of face scans, art/presentation for 2k games have always came off as an afterthought in regards to resource allotment. Whenever there's resources put towards it for a back of the box feature (MyCareer, Jordan Challenge, etc.) the ability and details shine. Unfortunately, that's not the case most of the time since City and the moneymaking modes get the resources for the most part.Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
Incredibly small and probably pointless non-gameplay detail lol, but they finally added accents for international players last names. I noticed the back of Jokić jersey in one of the videos.Comment

I kind of had the same impression until I watched a couple videos, mainly this one https://youtu.be/Bm-h8RUasuY?feature=shared. ProPlay is there, but it doesn’t jump out at you on every offensive possession, instead, it can be seen in little things like celebrations and movement styles.

Question is for those of us playing with classic players or eras, is there any difference in smoothness considering those players don’t get proplay? So far we only have the Kobe challenge footage and I haven’t really delved into it much, but it seems very similar there to 2K23(?)Comment

Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
I guess I also expected more from ProPlay. So far it looks more like PRplay, but maybe it's a game changer if you actually play the game.
I don't have a current gen console yet, so I didn't get a chance to play any of the new versions of 2K21-2K23. I guess you can't judge it too much without actually playing it, so I should be more open-minded until I try it myself. My Specs:
ZX Spectrum
CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
GPU: Monochrome display
RAM: 48 KB
OS: Sinclair BASICComment

Re: NBA 2K24 Videos
I was very excited for this game and pro-play until the videos released that I’ve seen. Dropped my excitement a lot. Hope I am wrong and it plays a lot different than the past few years. My flame for 2K been dying out more and more every year.
